I just got a little-known Rush song, followed by Led Zeppelin.
I like this thing.

Big thumbs-up on this one. I'd love to know what Pandora considers similar to this.

I think you're listening to "Everbody Wants to Rule the World" Radio, which is what the station was called before I renamed it "FOFC Radio" -- I don't know why it would be called that for you. On the left side, does it say "FOFC Radio" somewhere, with a little curvy arrow by it? If so, you should be able to click on that and get it to work. If it's not there, I can share it with you again. |

If you have the Pandora website open, and it says FOFC Radio on the left highlighted around the box in orange, then you are listening to the station. I don't think you can just listen to random music... you always have to start "a station" by telling it an artist or song you like... so the station is sort of random music, but it is supposed to be music that is similar to the seed music we've given Passacaglia.

I had it all along.
I just figured there would be a window or something that would identify it as playing. Plus the first few songs weren't listid here. Listening to slayer now. ahh memories. |

I have it seeded on my station, but I've also got bands like Lemon Jelly and Air so sometimes it's hard to tell which is which. I'm pretty sure that any Wagon Christ that comes up relates to this.

I wish the site would just tell you what the seed you're listening to is based on. I guess that the best way to do it is wait for a seed to play that song, and assume four songs around it are from that song? |

So the site doesn't listen to the actual songs we pick, just songs of similar genre?

I have gotten the exact songs that have been picked, but it tends to pick songs that sound LIKE the songs picked, not necessarily the songs actually picked.

Right. It will play the songs we've picked...sometimes. It has a thing about being sute not to play songs "on-demand" since that would violate the terms of their license. Basically, it plays what it calls "seeds", which are groups of four songs that are based on one of the songs or artists in our collection. After a while you'll see the pattern.

Yeah, pretty much. I've got like eight or nine songs seeded on my station, and in a day of listening I'll probably hear five or six of them.

Dola, we're going to have so many seeded songs and artists in a couple weeks that I'd imagine the odds of hearing any one particular song will drop pretty drastically.

Yes. Otherwise, it might get stale as you hear some of the same songs over and over again. (It has tried to play Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" for me at least 5 times in the last week. I do not wish to hear this song, but can't give it the thumbs down.)

We could also have a rule where if a certain percentage of people vote yes that Pass or someone else can thumbs down a particular song. It hasn't come up for me yet, but I'd be VERY MUCH IN FAVOR of thumbs downing Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now......

That sounds like a good idea, too. It's only played that song for me once. I don't particularly despise the song (I'm all for cheesy 80's music, generally), but I'd probably vote to thumb it down if I knew other people didn't want it. |

Gotta say, today's a pretty blah day on the station for me. Lots of adult alternative types of songs. Feels like the local Mountain/River/Meadow/ station.

Last three songs were Billy Joel, Journey and Pat Benatar. I want to drive a letter opener into my ears.

That link doesn't point to an article. It wasn't your spelling -- I was able to locate the band name, but when I clicked on all the albums it listed, Skin wasn't a song on any of them. |
