I had to Google your other pick, but once I saw it I said, "oh, the Dragonball guy" and it made sense ... or at least relative to the other 1st round pick I had to Google.

I think both of us have made picks so far on categories that we thought were top-heavy. But I've definitely shifted my feelings on the depth of a couple of categories this evening as I actually sat down and put some work into compiling more detailed lists/classifications rather than just the free-form association I did when seeing I had pick 1.2 this morning.

I think getting Superman with #2 was about the best pick you could've made. When I realized I had #8, I knew I wouldn't be getting him.

Right, there was no way I wasn't ending up with Superman/Batman to start the draft - just depended on where CR went. But after that it was time to start thinking about categories more than stuff like my personal favorite (as in, semi-obscure and underrated) comic book characters.

Anyway, I've watched enough of these in the past to have ideas about what I wanted to do but it is fun/different to actually be making the picks and worrying about the "Shia LaBeouf" moment.

I don't know the Shia reference. What draft is it from?

Poor Marilyn Monroe. One of the most obvious 1.1 picks in any draft and she loses out to Shia Labeouf. Maybe PurdueBrad = Cam Cameron and Shia was a close family friend.

I enjoyed that draft immensely. Re-reading over the first few rounds is hilarious.

Good pick, was wondering when we might see the top choices in this category come off the board.

Actually, thinking further on the Death Star one ... not really a lot of heroes holing up in that particular base.

That's because heroes are smart and would cover minor defective aesthetic abnormalities on the outside of your massive space station.

Hoping oykib shows soon, or that he submitted a list to larry ...
But if he had sent a list I expect larry would have updated it an hour ago.

I had him locked in as my number three pretty early. I think Science/Gadgets is a category like RB. There are different #1s depending on viewpoint. But another one of my possible #1s for this category was cleared fairly early. I wanted to make sure to pick him up.

4.2 Al Capone, Firepower, 19th Century ([insert deity of choice here])

This was a last minute change from a different choice in the same category I had mapped out. I felt like this was the most likely on my grid to be "knocked out", so even though he'd be available later, I was worried about real being blocked in this category.

Different category. Each creator can be used once per category and contestant.

I was wondering about that. Stan Lee likes to stamp his name on everything at Marvel. My gut tells me it shouldn't be allowed, but I'll defer to larry.

Spidey was taken as Protector. Same category as you've used for Thor.

Edit to add further clarification: The secondary categories (film, tv, 20th, 19th, etc) do not have the same limitation.

see above

While I'm not a fan of your Goku pick as a first rounder, your next 3 picks have been absolutely stellar.

I'm assuming the overlap rule only applies in the first category. If it's the second category too, I couldn't have used either of these guys.

Yes, the rule only applies for the main category, so you are fine.
