Wow, this was an old thread and I posted in it like it was brand new. Always makes me feel like an idiot when I do that. No more so than being a lifelong Saints fan, but still.

The Giants' chances are looking awful grim. We're close to a wildcard berth, and we have the best Starting Pitching in the National League, though...if you can make the playoffs, anything could happen.

6-10 times, sort of.

Philadelphia Wings - 6 (Had season tickets for eleven years and only one of those years they didn't make the championship)
Phillies - 1
Flyers - 2 (though I didn't appreciate the wins as much as I would have if they happened 5 years later)
Sixers - 1

Being a Philly fan is tough but I had no idea just how tough when I started getting into sports. At that point the Flyers were always in the playoffs and in the finals many times, the Sixers were always battling some great teams in the playoffs, the Phillies were on the run of division titles and a couple of WS appearances and the Eagles were in the Super Bowl - then things went sour and returned to "normal" for Philly sports.

A's - 89 (the only one I've been alive for)

The last couple of years have been pretty exciting and heart-breaking, all at the same time. Most recently, the Oilers run last season was insane, especially since I live in Edmonton...the whole city was so Oilers' crazy that you couldn't drive by a corner and not see an Oilers' logo displayed in some way or fashion...and to boot, my daughter was born the day of the triple overtime win against the Sharks that sparked the big run to only come up a period short. For a while there, when people asked how old she was I would say that she was 4 or 5 Oiler wins old...LOL!!!

The year before was the Eagles' first SB appearance since I've been a fan (started following the Eagles and the NFL after seeing an NFL Films show about Cunningham) and it was so hard to watch them lose knowing that getting back to that game would be damn near impossible.

And, well, the A's of the last 5 years or so have been great teams during the regular season...well, actually pretty much during August and September...but can never seem to put it all together for the playoffs...when it matters most. So needless to say, I'm getting sick of the "happy to make the playoffs" crap...just win, BABY!!!!

Yet, every season, here I am, watching and slipping further into depression. At least Peyton and the Colts won the Super Bowl once. So I now have one trophy on my mantle. Overall, sports fandom has been a real slog.

In my fandom lifetime, still just the White Sox in 2005, unless I count the Bulls during the Jordan years, which I'm not inclined to. I liked them a lot, but wasn't a fan in the truest sense of the word.

All the other teams I was or am a fan of, for however long a time, either won before I became a fan, or after I stopped being a fan.

It slowed down but still a great 15 years in Boston sports. 8 championships, one I got to see in person (Sox/Rockies in Denver), 4 other times in the final game/series. And my college team Syracuse has one basketball championship and 2 other final four trips. Much better than the 15 years before that (no championships between '86 Celtics and '01 Patriots.)

Miami Hurricanes - Titles in 1983, 1987, 1989, 1991, and 2001.

I am also a fan of the Yankees (5 rings) and NY Football Giants (4 Rings).

So I can proudly wear 10 rings, one for each finger! I'm pretty spoiled.

I consider myself a fan of the Pistons and Tigers and they are clearly my favorite teams in their respective sports/leagues, but I am just not a big fan of either sport, so while I am happy and excited when they win, it's not nearly the same. Same goes for all college sports that aren't football.

Nine years ago I voted 'never' and it still applies. We did have the unexpected summers of 2010 and 2014, but I suppose Oranje doesn't fully fit for this particular topic, plus silver and bronze still doesn't equal gold. FC Utrecht remains to be a very unlikely championship team, despite that the big three have been beaten twice since the poll was posted, I don't see Utreg pulling that off anytime soon...

AZ Cardinals - none in my lifetime
Newcastle - none since I became a fan in 2006, although they won the Championship in 2009/10. I don't count that.
Coyotes - none

Most of these teams not only have never won in my lifetime, but never won period.

Royals got within 90 feet of tying Game 7 of the World Series - yeah, that one's a bit unexpected.

My teams have faired decently well: All numbers are in my sports viewing history

NFL (1): Colts - 2006
NCAA Basketball (1): Hoosiers - 1987 (too young to remember the others)
NCAA Football (1): Irish - 1988/Hoosiers - 0

(Fan of both and since they seem to play in different universes I never have to worry about them meeting in a bowl game

)
NBA (2): Rockets - 1994, 1995/Pacers - 0

(I grew up a Rockets fan because I was a big Olajuwon fan. I've always been a Pacer fan as well, though I did give up on the NBA for awhile after the Malice at the Palace.

My favorite teams were the top two champions on the list.
