My house is available. It will be 85, sunny with low humidity all weekend. You can come watch my daughters play in a soccer tourney.

Good luck to all. I hope the storm shifts way east. Stay safe.

Well off to bed for me, hoping we have power in the morning. Pretty steady rain and wind gusts here in Myrtle Beach. Good luck to everybody else yet to be "introduced" to Irene.

Starting to strongly debate whether we should head further inland. I am concerned with how long it could be before we get back home though. Most of my neighbors are sticking it out. My biggest concern right now is flooding. I am just not sure what to expect.

Well would you rather stay and then try to escape from a flooding house? Having to wait a long time to get back to your house when it means you are all safe and sound is a good exchange I'd think.

Yeah we have power! Haven't been out to look yet, but looks like we weathered the storm fine-just the usual branches, pine cones, leaves all over the place. Still gusting here, but the rain may be over for us.

just did a check of house and yard-branches, pine cones, leaves, and pine straw all over the place-and one small hedge tree down, but otherwise ok here. We live on a man-made lake that was low before the storm and now is full and close to overflowing.

Just heavy rain and some wind right now - but the wind is really starting to pick up.

My house is pretty safe. We're not in a flooding area and in a new, mostly clear-cut neighborhood. Power would be our biggest concern.

Thus far, about as expected here. Some rain, a fair amount of wind. Pressure is still dropping as the storm hasn't quite reached due east of here, but it shouldn't worsen over what it is now.

However, areas east of I-95 are getting a lot of rain and, of course, the coast and the Outer Banks are getting all the heavy winds on top of that. This will definitely be a rough couple of days for the Northeast upcoming.

Stay safe.

From someone who lives in a country that gets battered by almost 20 typhoons each year... being over-prepared for a typhoon is always, always better than being underprepared.

If it isn't as bad as they say it could be, then good.

It started to rain here (Central NJ) a couple hours ago. The ground is saturated from all the rain already this month, and the rivers are at the tipping point.

Surprised we still have power here in New Castle, Delaware. Have had a number of flickering light moments, but so far still good. Wind and rain picking up.

So, blahhh.

My basement is flooded. We kept it at bay until 3:30AM or so, and then BAM. Water started pouring in. We had a shopvac and a pump, so THANK GOD the power didn't go out. But now there's about an inch of water covering my entire basement floor.

It's gonna be a shitty week, but glad that so far there's no damage anywhere else and we have power.

Woke up shocked to find I have power. A few trees down in my yard, but no damage. Very thankful we don't have more damage.

Same thing happened to my parents in Freehold. They stayed up all night keeping a shop vac going and 2 sump pumps. Not really happy about that since my Dad is 80 and had heart surgery in May.

They also lost their inground pool. Liner completely flooded with about 10,000 leaves.

all in all could have been worse, my sisters boyfriend had 2 cars destroyed by a falling tree.

My town appears to have escaped fairly unscathed. I think there is some flooding down closer by the bay and ocean but other than that no downed trees and no flooding in the streets. Feeling rather lucky considering that the hurricane was supposed to make landfall in my town for most of the tracking.

Scariest part was the tornado watches at the very beginning around 9-10 PM last night. Apparently there were actual tornadoes sighted to the west of us and out by LBI.

Same here. We were down in the basement and it was scary. Only other scary thing was watching a huge tree that is in my backyard sway back and forth over my skylights.

Hmm, I'm now experiencing some brownouts. Effects being my UPS is working as I hoped and washing my clothes is a pain in the ass.

I have not yet experienced the total anarchy I had come to expect from the news.

27 or Landshark happen to know what the roads are like? Wondering if they may be good enough to come back today.

Heard from our neighbor. Sounds like the only question may be if there is any water damage. The water got up quite a bit but she doesn't think it would have gotten to the level of the house but isn't positive for us (just that it didn't get into her house).

Central Va hit hard by winds; rain not so much. 360,000 still without power; as many more in Tidewater.

We had a dozen power blips, then it went it off at 6PM and came back at 8. All our lines are underground and that was the longest hurricane outage we've ever had. Clean-up was nothing but raking and toting one branch. My neighbor had a tree come down and clip his garage. He's 3-for-3 in hurricanes always knocking a tree onto house in this century.

Traffic lights are out all over, so I don't think we'll venture out far this afternoon.

Looks like things are over here. I didn't see Thomkal's brothers fly past. The yard looks like a rice paddy and the basement has about an inch of water with more leaking through the walls, but we kept power and didn't lose any trees.

Power just came back on here. Was out for about 3 hours or so.

My garage is flooded but thankfully the basement survived (I had put in new drainage yesterday to try to deter the water around the side of the house and it seemed to work). My back yard is pretty much a swimming pool now though. Some parts of it have 2-3 inches of standing water on top of the grass.

And I'm very glad you didn't see my brothers. Haven't spoken to them yet, but assuming they are okay as they have not called us or my other brothers. Glad you made it through relatively unscathed. Is looking like you guys got about 6 inches or so of rain there?

I definitely am still worried. I keep going down to check every hour or so, but thus far it looks like all of the water is being diverted by the drainage I installed at the foundation.

That's about what I'd guess. The rivers around here are schedule for some record breaking crests over the next few days.

With the exception of one road closed near consumers square, the roads are all fine.

I went out earlier and after three road closures I turned around and came home. Every time I came to a place where the road crossed water, the road was closed.

Bit of water in the basement and 15 hours without electricity... but otherwise pretty good here in North Plainfield, NJ.

Back home. Live near consumer square but luckily the road was closed in the opposite direction of where Iwas headed (that would have sucked to make it that far back home without an issue and then be blockaded less than a mile from the house).

No power here since 3 in the morning.

My wife's grandfather has a cottage on Long Island sound. Went to check on it tonight. The front was smashed into the living room. The rock wall in front of the water was completely gone. A foot of sand covers the road. Bad stuff. Worst since Hurricane Gloria.

The good news is our house was unscathed.

I've been without power since 1:00 PM on Saturday. I have power now since I'm at work, but some rumors say it could be a week or two before everyone in our area has power.
