It's lame how the giants go 3 months without playing the dogs (may 10th to aug 10th). Or really, it's lame that any team goes 3 months without playing their division leader.

I'm sitting down the left field line in the first deck up from the Giants bullpen. I went two a couple of games over July 4th, one in 101 down the right field line (next to the loft that they did the broadcasting from last night) and once in the left field bleachers. I'm just loving the chance to get to some games this summer while I'm out here for an internship. I've also been to a couple of A's games ($2 ticket, $1 hot dog night and then one A's-Giants game).

Yeah, but Correia will find this time to get his revenge on us. I used to have such high hopes for him.

Too bad there's not much momentum heading into the bottom of the 1st.

Is this a bad time to mention that I picked up Zito the other day in my fantasy league?

Bengie Molina just needs to leave this team. There isn't a more frustrating hitter (and I'm including Rowand). Between him and Zito...

John Sickles takes a look back at Sanchez as a prospect. Interesting that he also thought Sanchez might excel as a late-inning power reliever.

Nice game pitched by Zito, but another loss. Squadoosh for support for Lincecum and Zito this series.

Another decent outing by Barry.

Make that 7IP 3H 1R 1ER 5BB 6K. Nice late implosion by the Braves to help the Giants avoid the sweep. Losing three of four to the Braves has to be demoralizing.

Really curious what Sabean is going to do. Standing pat is pretty highly unlikely, even though it is probably the smart way to go.

15 K's for Timmy Franchise. Lincecum gave the Pirates so many rights they were begging for lefts. Well, here they come.

6IP 6H 0BB 5K 3ER 2R...winning the series 3-1.

Not too shabby against the defending champs. Turns out, having major league quality players on the right side of the infield is a good thing.

Nice outting for Zito today.

6 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO

Got the W to improve to 8-10 and dropped his ERA to 4.40. If he continues at this rate he'll be looking at a winning record with a sub 4 ERA.

But more likely, a losing record and a plus 5 ERA. (Crossing my fingers you're right and I'm wrong).

fwiw, I listened to this song only one time 4 days ago, and I cannot GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD! My brain is in a constant loop of: But a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, said a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, said a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, But a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, said a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, said a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, But a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, said a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, said a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, But a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, said a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, said a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do

Zito 4.44 (8-11) vs. Arroyo 4.74 (11-11)

The offense is showing signs of life. Regardless of how the Giants fare the rest of the season, they are set up for a key winter. A trade for a big bat and a free agent SP signing could turn this club into a genuine title contender. Of course, continuing to develop from within is paramount.

It has been a rough few years for SF but the club is clearly on the rise.

I find it odd that you feel the need to post something in anticipation of every Zito start.

With the pen worn down from Coors Field, the Giants really need Zito to come up big.

Zito came up big. The duds in the bullpen and the shoddy offense let him down again.

It takes talent to make a rival hate you worse when you lose than when you win.

When I saw this on SportsCenter, I was excited at first when I saw the last three runs. As soon as I saw the Rockies bat in the highlight I knew it was over. I turned off the TV in disgust and went to bed. So frustrating. At least I probably won't have to get MLB.tv for the last month of the season.

Two games out in the wild card race. Lincecum was a beast last night. If Barry can keep up his hot streak today, Cain may be pitching Sunday with a chance to catch the Rockies.

See, this is where I'm torn.

I WANT Zito to beat the Rockies. If he's been on a hot streak while I've had him starting for me in fantasy, is the correct play to leave him there, or would taking him out of the starting spot to avoid jinx him be, in fact, the jinx play?

Best case scenario: Zito beats the Rockies and the Giants somehow win the division by one game. Bad-example gets a new signature for the post season. Everybody wins!

You have an awfully strange definition of "best case scenario."

But that still doesn't help me with whether or not to bench Zito.

Heh. I am in charge of shirt mojo. Fantasy BB mojo is someone else's area of expertise. If it were me I would start him. So, you probably shouldn't.

Yes, absolutely agree about identical goals.

And I wanted us SOBs to sweep the Rockies, too.

The problem is, I'm trying to determine which move is least likely to jinx Zito *today.*

I'm inclined to think that if the jinx has failed while I've been starting him, the correct play is not to touch anything.

On the other hand, it could blowback on me if the jinx takes effect on the one day I *don't* want it to. At least this game isn't in Coors. That gives me some confidence.

A week ago today some people were declaring the Giants dead. Now they are tied for the WC. Still, the Rockies have the easier remaining schedule.

Big weekend series versus the Phils. Sanchez-Lincecum-Zito.

Wondering if Buster Posey will be among the September call-ups.

Make that Sanchez-Penny-Lincecum for the upcoming Phillies series.

Penny seems like a rich man's Tomko to me, but he should be an upgrade over the current 5th starter options.
