Didn't realize how tough Fairbanks was, but we managed to get the win in OT, so hopefully that got a lot of those in attendance convinced.

Nice CB signing for us this sim.
Chesapeake, what's your schedule like for our nearly annual tilt? Kids are in bed by 8:30 here, I can start as late as 10:00 (both eastern), not sure if I'll have much time in the afternoons.

Wow. I just had an amazing unbelievable game against Michigan at their place. Michigan jumped to an early lead and was dominating in the 1st quarter, but we drove down the field with our young freshman QB to make it 21-14 just before the half.
We then dominated the 2nd half and took a 35-21 lead as our defense was doing everything right. They made it 35-28 with about 2 minutes to go in the game and drove down the field with ease. I got worried about defense so I wasn't content to just run clock off on 3rd and 4 and I went for a 1st with our young scrambling QB, but he got rocked, fumbled it, and they picked it up and ran it all the way back for the tying TD. Tied at 35 with 40 seconds left, I decided to go for the win still and brought back our JR QB for his more reliable passing. But, his first pass was a pick to their middle linebacker. CRUD. We held them to a FG and used our timeouts but things were looking bleak. However, Colby Johnson who has been incredible all day broke free for a long pass that would have been a TD if it wasn't underthrown. As it was, we got into FG range and tied it at 38 with the clock running out. The first OT was routine as they ran it down our throat and easily scored. We worked hard and barely got in for a TD to tie it at 45. Our next possession, we were moving it well but on a short pass to our TE, he fumbled it inside the 5... our T caught it up in the air without it ever hitting the ground and rumbled in for a TD!!! They scored to tie it at 52. They had the ball first and on 3rd and 9, we managed to hit the QB as he was throwing it and they had to settle for a FG. We ran play action to our TE for the first play that got us inside the 2. Next play, we ran off tackle for a TD to win the epic battle, 58-55. Wow. That was one of my most exciting games against the CPU ever. |

Man, recruiting is kicking my butt this season. I've never had this much trouble getting people signed.

I could play tonight, kicking off at roughly 9:30 EDT. Otherwise it probably gets pushed off to Monday. I don't have a job at the moment so I can play in the afternoons on weekdays as long as it is wrapped up by about 3:30 so I can go get my kids. |

Getting my arse kicked in recruiting and then I managed to get my tail kicked by Wake Forest. I couldn't stop them on the run and they did what the rest of the schools I previously played against didn't.
Pounded it right up my ass.

My run defense is awful as well. Especially against running QBs.

Add me to the list of horrible running defenses. We doubled up Southern Miss, 48-24. We got up 14-0 early, and the lead never got threatened.
On field we are playing well, as we are undefeated. Now I just need to get some recruiting success.

We tried to choke away an 18-point lead in the second half, but managed to hold on for a 28-23 victory over Pitt.

On running defense, I blame most of mine on a below-average defensive line. My guys cannot get off blocks, and AI RBs are good at dodging tackles. Usually blitzing safeties helps me slow down a rushing attack, but that only works if they aren't throwing well. Overall I like it, but we'll see once I get a good D-Line back if I still feel the same way.

I feel the same way. We can stop the run pretty well if we make a full force effort to do that and that alone, but 90% of our lack of run defense in normal situations is mostly due to lack of athletic ability on that side of the ball.

34-14 Duke. We managed to stay in it until falling apart in the fourth quarter, done in by a pick-6 on a bad throw into the flat. Until that point we were being slowly beat, then it all went to pot. Mostly we could not get any consistent offense, and could not hit any big plays. Good game Chesapeake, you were the much better team today.

Your TD on your opening drive in the second half made it a very tight game that could have gone either way. But that pick-6 late meant I didn't have to play the run anymore. I also realized that I needed to be more judicious about my blitzing.
Sorry I was so rude and uncommunicative during the game. I didn't realize until after the game that my headset was on mute. |

After being down 33-7 with 2 mins in 1st half end up pulling out a 50-40 win. (This game is difficult if you are not focused.) |

We're on to Week 8. Indiana faces our toughest matchup of the year at #4 Notre Dame. An upset in front of their home crowd would be awesome...

Just not a good day for the freshman QB.. Bad time for that to happen, too.. We played well enough early that we could have built a solid lead if we could have done anything offensively. Thats ok though, there will be some bumps.

Lots of missed tackles, lots of dropped passes, and somehow we still beat Florida State 20-7. Mostly we seemed to never give up the really big play, and timely blitzes backed them up. They kept going for it on fourth down and we kept stopping them. The key was a 16 play, 93 yard drive by our offense in third quarter, where we finally got some running going. Huge win, and apparently we should have had more recruits here this weekend.

It was a game of two halves. Couldn't stop them at all in the first half, and we trailed 41-31 at halftime. I guess the halftime talk fired up the defense, and we pitched a shutout in the 2nd half, and cruised to a 59-41 win. Hopefully we'll crack the Top 25 this week.

Had the game in hand until the late 3rd and 4th qtr, and then Miami turned it on.
Defensively, we can stop the pass and do it well. It's just that running game wears my DL out! 55-44 loss to Miami.

Colby Johnson with a big game to lead us past Washington, 38-17. Johnson had 6 catches for 175 yards and 3 TD's. But, he had lots of support including our HB who had just under 200 yards and 2 TD's and our #2 WR who had 4 catches for 109 yards.
We are also doing well on the recruiting trail and I suspect we'll get several commitments soon. |

I was getting soundly beaten by UVA, heading into the 4th down 17-6 and unable to generate consistent offense, mostly due to poor pass protection and what ended up being 9 dropped passes. But then I started making some plays and finally got the lead, 21-20, with less than 2 minutes left. Forced to throw, the UVA QB made an awful pass into the flat that I returned for a TD to take a 28-20 lead. But UVA wasn't done. They drove to my 1 yard line and had 2 shots to punch it in. I stuffed both running plays to preserve the win.
I had a number of recruits in the house, so this is a very big win for us. |

In-laws are visiting, and I'm having a hard time finding a window to play my game. Due to flooding in our spare bedroom, their bed has been moved to the room with the TV, so I can't play after they go to bed. Hopefully an opportunity will present itself over the weekend. Or I can bring the 360 upstairs and play on the small TV. Anyway, CU Tiger is MIA until Sunday, so I have some more time to work.

Man, we led on Pierre Jones for so long, but Indiana kept creeping up and finally stole the home-state recruit.
