Mizzou could be in the NC game. Heard it here first.

The Sooners finally woke up and scored 18 straight to get a 5 point halftime lead.

Actually, I heard it on the radio before the Georgia game, but it didn't pass the smell test then, either. IF Mizzou makes the SEC championship game and IF they're still undefeated then they'll probably be in the conversation. But beating a depleted Georgia team and a depleted Florida team, while personally thrilling to this Mizzou fan, doesn't spell "national championship contenders." Still some work to do before I'm willing to have that conversation. |

Jordan Lynch is now at 259 yards rushing and 3 TDs. Looks like NIU will remain undefeated.

It's pretty much the whole northeast. Syracuse, BC, UConn, UMass, Buffalo, Army (I give them a pass). And the worst part is all of them seem to have a hard on for old-school football and ex-defensive coordinators and won't hire a new coach who'll try something different. There are always going to be the inherent facility and recruiting disadvantages, and yet plenty of FCS schools make noise with high-octane attacks, but guys like Chip Kelly, Brian Kelly, Mark Whipple, Bobby Wilder all had to leave the area to get head coaching gigs. Even a guy like Paul Johnson would be a good hire because he would bring something unique and different, which is your best chance of beating teams with more money, fans, and better recruiting areas than you.

Btw, Johnny Manziel should absolutely declare for the draft this spring. Not because I think he's ready for the NFL, or because I don't want to see him play college ball for 2 more years (I desperately do), but because his numbers are going to plummet when Mike Evans is gone and not winning 1-2 lobs in traffic per game.

I wouldn't be surprised if Michigan ended up not being bowl eligible at all this season. This is a very mediocre team.
Missouri? Some impressive results, but a rather lackluster non-conference schedule to overcome. I think they'd need to run the table to play in the NCG and would be a two-touchdown underdog to Alabama in the SEC title game. |

In fairness, though, I think most of the SEC would suffer the same fate. Alabama's just a notch above the rest of the conference right now. Last edited by SackAttack : 10-19-2013 at 08:08 PM. |

Apparently going to the local game store and playing games versus having a heart attack keeping up with the Michigan versus Indiana game was the right decision.

Coastal Carolina wins an OT thriller against Liberty to remain undefeated 55-52. Came back from a 28-14 halftime deficit, to score the game tying TD and conversion with about 40 seconds left on a drive that had a successful 4th and 4 play to keep it alive.
In OT, both teams got TD's on their first drive, Coastal then settled for a FG on the second drive...and then blocked Liberty's attempt at a FG for the win! I'm pretty stunned at the win and just how successful they've been this season. |

Remember when OSU beating Northwestern was Meyer's biggest win at OSU? As much as I hate Auburn, that team is slowly getting less fun to play against.

Interesting to see 'Bama use Drake more. This goes away from 'Bama's typical smash mouth running game, and it gives them two speed backs. I know Arkansas is terrible, but the duo is putting up huge numbers. If the OL continues to get better, any issue the offense has might be going away. The defense is only getting back to their norm.

Winston is the real deal.
Tough for Clemson after the big UGA win to start the season. Could be interesting to see who plays ALA if both FSU and ORE are undefeated.

Why didn't LSU call a timeout immediately there?
Ball is snapped with :32 left, LSU lets it run down to :06 on 4th down with a FG coming up before using their final timeout. Last edited by mckerney : 10-19-2013 at 10:44 PM. |

I wonder how many people would have bet the Iron Bowl would decide who goes to the SEC title game after watching last year's Iron Bowl.

This might just be as good a college football day, overall, as I've ever had.
Tennessee gives Butch Jones a signature win Georgia Tech sets a new record for an ACC win (who cares? but still nice) Georgia lost. LSU lost. I can't ask for much more out of a Saturday.

Southern Cal played at Notre Dame today ... and best I can tell, virtually no one cared.

I don't see it unless Oregon ends up right down to the wire or wins on some Pac12 officiating thing. The polls are already going to be majorly fucked up tomorrow as it is, I don't see anybody being gung-ho to make that kind of change along with it.

I'm not sure I could easily pick one over the other, but Oregon's win over Washington doesn't look as good now with Washington getting beat three in a row with a really bad loss in there. Clemson at least beat Georgia when it was healthy. If I'm Oregon, I'm praying for the rest of the ACC since FSU seems to be in FU mode, and they have two games of note Miami and conference title game and the Florida game might be another game to pile on the SEC since Florida can't score against a stiff breeze. This is going to be the year the BCS is going to have chaos unless Stanford or somebody offers a gift up.

I would rank Alabama, Oregon, and Florida State 1-2-3 at this point. Your analysis is spot on; when Georgia was at full strength, the Clemson win was (and still is) impressive. Watching Florida State demolish Clemson 51-14 tonight on Clemson's home field convinced me that they deserve to be in the discussion for the final season of the fraudulent "BCS National Championship". |

LSU will still have a decent record, and they are to my knowledge healthy compared to other SEC teams that got beat. Auburn may only have one loss when they face 'Bama. I'm aware that the schedule is rather soft considering it involves the SEC and an OOC one loss team, but I find it rather difficult for any voter to not send an undefeated two-time champ back to the title game. While impressive, people understand the FSU/Clemson score isn't something that would happen that often if they played 10 times. You give FSU cerdit, but you don't put them at #1 either.

Great game by FSU last night. Combine a great game with a folly of errors and that is what you get.
I told a friend last night if these two teams play ten more times FSU likely wins 7 or more of them but they don't score fifty again. Stupid stupid fumbles and uncharacteristically poor passing decisions haunted the Tigers lat night. Let's see of this team really has exercised past demons and shows up next week in Md. If the Clemson team through the first 6 weeks shows up that one will be over early and ugly...if this loss hangs around it could beat us twice. |

Dola (because for some reason I can not edit my previous post )
I would not want to be a pollster today. Bama, Oregon, FSU are your top three and a case could be made for any order there you wanted I suppose. But beyond that...who's 4-10 Stanford, LSU, mizzou, Ohio state, Miami, Baylor, UCLA, , Texas tech, auburn, and Clemson all probably in the conversation for those next 7....and who goes where...like I said glad I'm not charged with that task.
