My plans just aren't enough to keep Gramm from quickly rising to the top. Damned whippersnappers!

David Conti - we need a big game out of you! Go Plague!

Colvin had an amazing 1st half going 18 of 19... until we got greedy and tried to score late in the half. He underthrew a pass, they intercepted it and got a nice return. Then, Navy's option broke us down and they had a 31 yard run for a TD. We were still up 16-14 but they get the ball for the 2nd half. So, we decided to try to strike again quickly with 21 seconds left. 2 incompletes before I completed 2 deep passes. Alas, we were stopped on the 1 yard line as time expired in the half...

Navy got the ball to start the 2nd half and ate up 3:30 before settling for a FG but we injured their QB on their last run of the half. He has been hurting us on the ground. 17-16 lead for them.

Colvin responded with a perfect drive ending with a 2 yard run, but he got hurt when he dove for the endzone. We lead 23-17.

Navy's backup QB was even faster and more pesky. I was glad when their starter returned in the 4th quarter. But, they are driving down the field thanks to their backup QB's running...

We reinjure their starter and their backup! Wow. That helps us stop their offense. But, we get the news that Colvin is done for the day due to a concussion. Can our backup milk the clock?

Our running game and short controlled passes eat up most of the 4th quarter clock and end with a TD to our star TE. 30-17.

We beat Navy by a final score of 30-17

Colvin was the player of the day. Despite getting injured and only playing 3 quarters, he finished with a nice stat line: 25 of 28 passing for 297 yards with 2 TD's and 1 INT. He also scrambled for 1 TD.

We outplayed Tucker in the first half and went into the break tied 3-3, but the Tucker defense started to assert itself in the second half, and 4 turnovers did us in. 27-3, Tigers.

Well, the Plague played tough for a quarter. But then they faded. I face the Chits next week. They threw the ball all day long last year and beat us pretty bad. It might just be a tough day.

I think we are ready to advance.

Asheville played their most complete game in the first half as our TE had a huge half and our defense forced them to settle for FG's. That led to us jumping to a 24-6 lead at the half.

In the 2nd half, they scored quickly. They forced us to punt. They scored quickly. Suddenly, we were in a dog fight. 24-20.

We managed to put together a great drive that ate up clock and led to a TD. 31-20.

A few plays later, our safety made a very acrobatic interception after their WR had it bounce off his hands. Even more impressive, the safety managed to maintain his balance and took it to the house for a pick 6. 38-20.

They kept fighting back. Quick strike and it was 38-28 (after a 2 point conversion.)

They forced a stop. They moved quickly down the field but we stopped them at a FG. 38-31.

They managed to force a stop again and we punted with 1 minute left. A great punt started them at their 1. We managed to get a stop at their 30 when we held them on 4th and 2. We ran out the clock for a 38-31 win

Hey Gramm. When is a good time for you to kick my butt? I can usually play at night during the week if I schedule in advance. Saturday morning 7ish could work too.

Dang. Had a chance at upsetting Gramm with the ball late and down three, but couldn't move down the field and get that final score.

Gramm was dealing with no ST or goal line formations, so he was playing with a handicap all game. He was forced to always go for 2 pt conversions and go for it on 4th down. So I had an unfair advantage. Beating him would have felt a little cheap. Sorry the restart didn't fix your playbook issue.

Good game, Gramm. I've at least figured out how to slow down your sack machine. Baby steps.

The workaround for the playbook issue for me on extra points and punts, etc.. Is to back out of the playbook and select "coach suggestion".

I thought we had a good chance to win at Wake Forest as they aren't super powered, but I threw 2 bad picks early and their speedy WR beat me deep 2 times early. We got into 21-0 hole that I could never climb out of. We lose 31-17.

We could try for Monday or Tuesday night around 10 pm if that works. I'm off those nights, so that might be the easiest.

I'll look for you Monday night, and if that doesn't work I'll check back again Tuesday night.

Man, Gramm.. When I threw that pick late in the 4th I couldn't stand being in the same room with myself. I hesitated on the throw and then panicked and pushed the wrong button and your LB made a hell of a catch but I thought I had thrown the game away on that play. Thankfully we were able to take the time off the clock we needed to on our last drive and we were able to finish with a TD and win it.

This was a game most certainly decided by mistakes, both teams made one, but we ended up with what amounted to one extra possession in the end because we got lucky and the clock fell in our favor. Otherwise, it was TD for TD all the way, both teams moving the ball like it was self propelled.

GG Gramm, good luck the rest of the way.

Yeah, he's a beast. Couldn't even slow his offense down really, got a lucky pick on a nice play where one of my CB's just made a hell of a break on a ball, but that was the only positive play we had the whole game on defense it felt like. It wasn't even frustrating because it wasn't like he was converting 3rd and long over and over. In fact, he hardly ever saw 3rd down at all. I was just calling a play and trying to mix things up with movement and late shifts, but nothing worked in the slightest.

Luckily I was able to keep the pedal down myself and pull off the same feat. I had a little more trouble slicing through his D though, had to convert a 4th down on one drive to keep my foot on the gas. Had a frustrating dropped TD that turned into a FG on a drive before the half too. I thought any one of the few miscues I had could have ended me.

Good game JR. I was hoping that late pic would make the difference. I was not sure if it would be worth calling time outs or not. I thought I would just try to stop a TD. I was surprised to see your RB only had something like 3 broken tackles in the stats. I felt like he was shrugging guys off right and left. I think he got over a hundred yards.

That was one of those games where you can point to 3 or 4 plays that made the difference in the whole game.

I was getting that crap where my special teams, goal line and now dime formation would not show up in the play book. Your "ask coach" worked for the special teams.

Yeah. It's the downside of custom playbooks. Only seems to happen against other human players.

It seems like a toss up as to who ends up on the wrong end of that playbook bug too. Sometimes I get my whole playbook, sometimes I only get the non goal line formations.

I set a personal record today against Vicksburg, as I threw 4 pick sixes. Sherman Stokes broke some big plays too. We got smoked 52-13.

We overcame 9 drops to pull out a 34-26 win over Frederick. It was insanely frustrating, we had 2 drops that cost us 8 points directly, and 3 or 4 more that ended drives. Luckily our defense was pretty good and got a bunch of stops when we needed them, and the run game was pretty effective.

Outer Banks is ready to advance. We beat Tucker by jumping out to a lead and keeping the pace. Another weird playbook issue occurred. I totally got a different defensive playbook. It looked like a 3-4 book. Threw us off a little, but we adjusted and ran a lot of vanilla stuff.

We started off really well against Fairbanks and I thought we were going to upset the talented team. We got a defensive stop. We marched down the field with ball control offense, running and short passes. But, we stalled in the red zone and settled for a FG.

We stopped them again and marched down the field again. Again, we stalled in the red zone. But, we ate up a lot of clock and were up 6-0 with 1:30 to go...

Then, they got their offense going with a 52 yard pass and before I knew it, we were down 7-6.

We managed to run a good 2 minute drill and got into FG range and made it 9-7 at the half and we were receiving the ball.

We ate up clock and marched down the field, but I felt we couldn't settle for FG's and I tried running it for a 1st and on 3rd and 2 with my QB and he fumbled it.

That turnover led to a quick strike TD for them. Ouch.

Down 14-9, we marched down the field but had a 4th and 2 on their 38. I threw it to our usually reliable star TE, but he dropped the pass. Turnover.

They had a quick strike and we were suddenly down 21-9.

We turned it over again and before I knew it we were down 27-9.

We lost 27-17 to have a 5-7 losing season

Chesapeake had their way with us offensively. It was ugly.

We got bombed on by Tucker. Couldn't slow them down and our WR dropped 8 more passes.

Well Ohio didn't pose much of a threat, we ran and passed almost at will in this one and cruised. Now to see how well our all freshman OL develops for their first action next season. They'll have a really good RB to block for, and our receiving corps doesn't look like it is going to get much better than it is. Next year is probably going to be the first year we have a real shot at a BCS bowl.
