We select:

Popeye the Sailorman
5'9 190 pounds
NFL comparison: Bill Romanowski, David Boston

Positives: Been around for DECADES.(70 something years) Spawned years and years of cartoons, a popular eatery, a few morning variety type shows, and a bad movie. Don't let his age fool ya though, he can always be ready to fight thanks to his strong juice. Wait, are we sure that it isn't Romo?
Negatives: Spinich may contain banned substances. His 40 time is probably in the 6.0 range.
Conclusion: Projected as a franchise player and a bruiser of a RB

Its ok, our errand boy on the draft floor needed a workout anyway. Damn I would have liked to have gotten Fat Albert's run stuffing ability in the second. Although hes no Gilbert Brown after a Shoney's breakfast.

Their should probably be a line with Duos shouldn't there? I mean some duos are only known together but they have distinctly different characteristics, whereas some blend together to almost form just one character.

Edit: well nevermind

Geez, somehow I missed Popeye on my list. Good pick.

And I thought Fat Albert might fall a couple rounds, where I could grab him. Another quality pick.

I think it depends on the duo really. Like Ace and Gary would have to go together b/c of the ambiguously gay duo thing.

I think there is the problem of "who is a duo and who isn't" since, say, Tom and Jerry were always together but Robin had some shows without Batman.

however, doing a duo could be interpreted as Jane and George Jetson, so preferably no, unless their completely irreseparable.

Yea and take the characters named after famous furniture and that share the name with male strip clubs. I SUPPOSE you could pick them seperate, but it would make more sense to pick them together wouldn't it? Because its like they are half and half of one personality? Or maybe I am thinking WAYYYY too much about cartoon characters.

Oh, and some analyis... Fat Albert is a large African American male. I think he's influential b/c of his skin color, but unfortunately it hasn't translated into more cartoon roles for blacks. (Besides Wendel and Carl Carlson in the Simpsons and Cleveland in Family Guy)

Popeye is a good pick. A guy who you can easily forget until you remember that he got some fine ass pussy. Plus he's buff

Well I wanted Tom and Jerry...

But I'll settle for the main aprt of the duo, Tom. The true artistic force of the pair. There are many cartoons where Jerry is replaced by his nephew or the stupid duck or some such. But Tom is the constant.

They were the biggest cartoon act of the movie era. Their fame built the Hanna-Barberra studios which in turn gave us the majority of the famous American cartoon characters that we know today.

9-time Academy Award winner... Tom is known, literally... all over the world. In an indirect way He's even responsible for Cartoon Network, as it was Turner communications acquisition of the Hanna-Barberra studio that allowed CN to be established.

Tom was so big in the movie era that MGM used to replace the roaring lion in the logo witha hissing Tom before their cartoons.

Yes, yes you are.

People will keep pushing the limits of duos, ok now I meant to take Goku AND Vegeta as a duo since they are so intertwined in DBZ... so much easier to only take single characters.

MY PICK! The one's where Tom hisses I think are the best shorts they made, I just liked the animation better and thought they were funnier. And don't forget the board game!

Note: If I happen to see someone reading this thread and their choice is up, they had better pick. If I see someone reading the thread during their term and they don't pick, I will pass on to the next choice.

There was a Tom and Jerry board game I had when I was growing up. That thing was fun, too bad I have no idea what happened to it.

Ill have my pick up one minute, but here's a quote I found about the TV guide list of top 50 cartoon characters "ten monkeys on drugs could have picked a better list by throwing their feces on the wall and trying to figure out what character it looked like."

NEW RULE!

You now have 12 hours from the last pick to make a pick if you are on the clock. After 12 hours, the next person gets to go. You do not lose your pick, its just like the NFL draft, but you will have to pick from who is left.

This will only be done one at a time, however. So say 2 people in a row need to pick, someone else cannot jump them. Otherwise it gets too confusing.

Will this be known forever more as the "BigJohn" rule?

My dear lord, statistics class sucks. On top of that, the prof barely speaks english! I'm sure he's doing a much better job of it than I would with chinese, but everyone in the class just looks at each other like we're a bunch of morons whenever he says something. Well, so much for my 3.95!

Just got home from work and I'll take the Goofy pick. A couple of movies and numerous tries at sports. The guy was up for anything.
