Lions and Stafford agree to part ways, Lions looking for a trade partner.

As much as I understand it from both sides that leaves the Lions with some bare-assed cupboards. They better get a windfall, cuz the prospects of a rebuild based on a rookie GM, a rookie head coach, only 5 picks in the upcoming draft, and the 2nd worst scoring defense in the history of the league sounds a whole lot different without Matthew Stafford attached. I can't imagine it makes FAs Kenny Golladay or Marvin Jones more likely to sign either.

Stafford to NE is the perfect fit for both.

I'm mostly speculating, but I didn't get the impression that Stafford particularly enjoyed his exposure to 'the Patriot way' (or Matt Patricia).

Even before this news came out there was talk about a Watson/Stafford swap.

I think there would have to be more going in the Texans direction to have them consider that... and does Watson really want to go to an empty cupboard (as noted above)

For sure. There appears to be a handful of teams that want to trade their starter-level QBs next season, it will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

I have to admit that I'd take Stafford over a sharp stick to the eye in Indy.

Probably why Barnes got a 5 year deal and Campbell 6.

I think the only way Watson ends up in SF is if Watson forces the Texans' hand. And he doesn't hate his other options enough to do that. SF won't give up Bosa, and the Texans shouldn't let him go for anything less than Bosa + picks.

Watson's NTC kind of forces the Texans' hands like he was an NBA star. He can basically say "Trade me there" and after they're done pouting (which could take months if they're really bitter), they'll trade him.

I like Watson to the Jets, which seems to be getting traction. Since they are not getting Lawrence, give that pick to the Texans for Watson. I wouldn't give much more than that though. Jets still need a lot of players. A #2 for Watson seems reasonable to me.

Unless Urban Meyer is really high on Zach Wilson.

As a Dolphins fan, not excited to think about the Jets landing Watson and having to face a division of Allen, Watson, and whatever Belichik comes up with.

I don't care how unhappy he is, there's no way I trade Watson for a single pick. He's a stud and the new coach might be able to fix the relationship.

The more I see of Brady in TB, the more convinced I am that it was Belichick riding Brady to Super Bowl glory, and not Belichick as some kind of mastermind mad genius.

Last season, Green Bay's defense was murdered by the run in the conference championship game. Decided to try the pass this time.

I mentioned it in a previous post about Stafford, but I could see both New Orleans and the Rams as possible landing spots. Pittsburgh as well, depending on the Big Ben situation, although it looks like the Dwayne Haskins is their quarterback of the future (and I don't mind that move oddly, I see Tomlin getting more out of him than anyone else). Finally, as mentioned, I could see Stafford to the 49ers and Handsome Jimmy back to the Pats.

Based on the last three possessions, maybe not so much

Rodgers should have taken off on third down there. Worst thing that happens if it sets up a much shorter 4th down but he had a lot of room.

This last quarter has been absolutely bizarre. Like 2 of the best teams in the league with 2 of the best QBs of all time are daring each other to see who can play the worst.

I love that idea of giving an automatic 1st down there. I've always hated stopping a guy 1 yard short of the 1st down in situations like that.

Still better than if one of them was named Rothlisberger.

I saw the jersey pull, but that Bucs receiver went down like a center back caught his ankle in the 18 yard box.

Almost my exact comment to my kid.

You do that, and still lose, you probably fucked up something somehow.

You do know that I actually live in Australia. I just picked the Bucs as my team when I was 14 since I have always liked the underdog.

Oh, and the TB Rowdies FTW.

If my FOF team kicked a FG on 4th and goal down 8 with just over 2 minutes to go in the NFC Championship, I'd be so pissed and would blame my whole season on the AI, throw the laptop out the window, etc. etc.

I know KC has weapons everywhere, but Kelce is the glue of that offense. Dude is always open in clutch situations and on 3rd down. You just can't take away the threats on the outside without paying a heavy price in the hook to curl zones and down the seams with ihm.

I've been working all day.. but why didn't Rogers run the ball on that 3rd down late in the game? I'm no football player and watching it from my TV is easy but it looked like he might have been able to get either into the end zone or close to the goal line, setting up an easy 4th down decision.

I have to hand it to the Chiefs defense, they did great. Now I can put my Bills hat back into storage and break out my Chiefs Maclin jersey.

There were a few spots where it looked like a pretty obvious run where Rogers decided to try a throw instead.
