Apparently, womenfolk think the soccer players are quite easy on the eyes. At least in my small sample.

Erm, best I can tell the app probably isn't doing this.

As mentioned below, the earlier rounds were doing something like 9 million hits per day total (likely including repeat visits/non-uniques if this is reported in typical TV press release fashion). About 600k simultaneous streams at peak.

The crossover would have to be enormous to produce the sort of straight-up on TV numbers mentioned in the figures you quoted.

Much more likely, especially looking at a list of the highest rated markets, this is largely a function of improved network reach (i.e. available on more systems) + improved performance / availability of their over-the-air simulcasts + steadily increasing Spanish-speaking audience.

Damn, finally got to watch the game. I knew how it ended but wow what a kick in the teeth. I shouldn't feel down, but damn. I have to think that it may be on their minds on Thursday. I'd hate to see them really let down. But I can feel that it might be coming.

So, THIS is where ESPN3 is glorious. Top two screens the live FIFA World CUp games. Bottom two screens: Highlight reel from the two games

Unfortunately no ESPN3 for me, but I have been enjoying the BBC Sport stream for the games I've watched.

Apparently van Persie being out means this is the first time in 221 games that the Netherlands have started a game without a player who's name starts with "van".

Nice way for Villa to end his Spain career with a goal.

Klinsmann with the ICE BURN today, When asked if he would work with Germany to get the draw both teams need to clinch advancement... "The US is known to give all they have in every single game.... otherwise Mexico would not be here."

Arjen Robben has been the best player of the tournament so far. What an amazing assist just now.

Nice goal by the Dutch to seal the game. They have been very impressive through the group stage.

If the first few minutes are any indication, the Brazil-Cameroon games has 5-0 written all over it.

Cameroon seems to have woken up. They looked like they were in a daze the first few minutes, and Brazil was putting tons of pressure on them. Cameroon has had control the past few minutes.

Neymar again showing me something. In the Confed Cup he already was really good under considerable pressure (that tourney was a big deal in brazil) and now delivers under even bigger pressure.

Fred and also Hulk are very iffy when it comes to actually participating in offensive play. Maybe it is time to try playing Hulk up front and see how that looks.

So apparently if you add up ESPN and Univision viewers (not counting those who watched over streaming), you get 24.7 million people watching the USA vs. Portugal on Sunday night. Fantastic numbers!

I still think the worst part of Brazil game this 3 rounds was Paulinho, just pathetic. Cant stand this guy any longer.
Fred aint doing much, but ball aint getting to him either.

They must have heard you. Paulinho pulled at the half, and Fred almost scored right there.

And now Fred does score (although should have been called offside). 3-1 Brazil

also, i will never blame a wrong offside call that close, no matter the side or if it is for the attacker or against. All players know it is difficult to judge, both sides constantly try to use it to their advantage. Risk comes with it naturally.

And in the last replay from the opposite it did not look like offside, at all. Fred behind the ball when it was crossed.

Yeah, that replay did show he wasn't offside. The first angle made it took like he was in front of the player with the ball.

One of the replays they showed had him being a good half yard ahead of the blue line, but the ball was also a good half yard ahead of the blue line.

I can't find myself rooting for Mexico, but wow they're getting screwed by officials this World Cup. 2 obvious handballs, the 2nd in the box, to go along with the missed offsides calls vs. Cameroon.

Can someone explain to me when it's a foul to collide with the goalie when you're on offense? I had confused with it in the first Croatian game, and am still confused now. Someone said contact with the goalie was called 9 times out of 10 or something, but I've seen two or three times in this game where it wasn't called?

It's basically like hitting the QB in American football. You basically have to treat them with kid gloves because there is a preference for calling fouls when you collide with a goalie.

What counts as a hand, is it the forearm too?

Croatia isn't fast enough or something. They've had control and attacks, but nothing has come of it. Mexico has had the better chances.
