Not exactly a situation you plan for. They're not going to continue tonight.

Since it affects playoff seeding, including the bye, I suppose they try and finish it tomorrow night, but it's not a good situation. I feel terrible for the players - hopefully Hamlin is somehow OK.

You're well behind social media.

I'm personally inclined to wait until there's medical information before engaging in that discussion.

He does have a different non-ESPN Twitter account. I feel bad for him if that's not real. It's set up like a real account, including the ESPN part.

I just told my daughter about that one. Clearly the closest incident I can remember, but that was a west coast CBB game, not the most anticipated MNF game of the year. I think I heard about it the next day.

I was watching the game on the NFL plus app. And as soon as they officially called the game, the ESPN feed cut. I guess someone somewhere in New York realized that once the game ended, they could not keep sending out that ESPN feed for free. Heh

I have to think the shot to the chest caused some issue with the heart. Maybe an underlying condition but I think there have been cases in hockey and soccer of this happening.

I guess from a positive perspective, an NFL game is probably the best place to have this happen. And it seems like there is a very good hospital in the area. Hopefully this is one of those situations where quick medical attention saves his life.

If the NFL hadn't gone to 17 games the season would have been over yesterday and this game never played tonight.

Though it does make me throw up a little bit in my mouth, I agree with the sentiment of what you are saying. Like it or not, best case scenario for the NFL business wise would have been for the game to continue AND getting good news like 10-15 minutes later that Hamlin was okay. I am sure the league has to chat with CEOs of their business partners to figure out what the ramifications of the suspending the game would be for them and the league.

I am glad that the right call was made in the end.

How horrific. My wife guessed heart arrhythmia or lacerated spinal cord. Not good prognosis for either. Hope we hear some positive news tonight.

I bet it caused a heart arrythmia. This has happened in baseball/softball when kids take a hard hit ball to the chest. There's a chest protector you can buy for kids to help protect the heart from that kind of situation.

I mentioned it upthread. One of my best friends is actually a paramedic in Cincinnati. This was his speculation as well. apparently the Bengals use their own medical staff so he couldn't get much info. He said the amount of time the did CPR is a really bad sign. UC Med is indeed a great hospital.

Yeah, I was thinking possible spinal injury as well. It could be numerous things really, but those are the two most likely.

Hamlin's charity is blowing up. I'm watching it increase by $100K every 15 minutes. Incredible.

I donated a few bucks to his charity about 25-30 minutes ago. It was at $390K. It's now at $690K.

That is good news that it is normal. Worried he has brain damage from the heart stoppage and that's why they put him on a ventilator. Hoping it's precautionary.
