Is the record even the same with the extra game? It's kind of like when they tried talking about Jeanty breaking Barry Sanders record. Not even remotely the same.

I think Saquon sitting out is good. I don't like records being broken due to an extra game.

My fantasy team is in the championship game (2 week format, I am currently up about 15 points). I'm happy that my QB is Sam Darnold and my main RB is Bijan Robinson. I like that my big horses have a reason to play hard in Week 18. My opponent has QB Lamar Jackson and Jonathan Taylor as his top players. He'd be in better shape if he hadn't inexplicably left two guys who were out in his lineup in the first week of the championship round. Hopefully that nets me a $320 payout.

As a Rams fan I was trying to remember if they only played 14 games in '84. But ED did it in a 16 game season. Looking at Barkley this year, he and ED would end up almost even in carries if Barkley plays one more game. As a Rams fan IMHO Barkley breaking the record wouldn't need an asterisk. Though I'd certainly understand those that thought it should.

The Rams in '84 were 28th in pass attempts and 4th in rush attempts. Eagles this year are 32nd in PA and 1st in RA.

IMHO where Dickerson wins out is the era he played in and his QB was Jeff Kemp. To me that's is something, but not enough to deny Barkley if he were to play and surpass ED.

With all of that said, we're I the Eagles? I'd shut Barkley down and not think about it twice. As a Rams fan with the team in the playoffs, that could end up playing Philly, I would want them to play Barkley for "bad" reasons.

I could totally understand Barkley wanting to get the record for selfish reasons. Good on him if he isn't protesting being held out.

This is a great line. Jon Gruden is getting talk for job openings, and people are wondering how everyone is just ignoring the emails that got him drummed out of the league in the first place. One persons response:

If the record is considered the same going from 14 to 16 games, it can surely be considered the same going from 16 to 17. The basic 14 game comparison between Saquon, ED, OJ and Jim Brown is fascinating.

JB- 291 carries 1863 yards 12 TD 133.0 YPG

OJ- 332 carries 2003 yards 12 TD 143.1 YPG

ED- 326 carries 1792 yards 12 TD 128.0 YPG

SB- 299 carries 1802 yards 11 TD 128.7 YPG

The college record would not be the same. First off, Sanders set the record in 11 games, Jeanty set his mark in 14. Also, Sanders rushed for 222 yards in the Holiday Bowl that season which is not included in his final mark. The final lines for Sanders and Jeanty are not close.

Sanders: 12 games 373 carries 2850 yards 42TD 237.5 YPG
Jeanty: 14 games 374 carries 2601 yards 29TD 185.7 YPG

If Saquon would need an asterisk then so would Dickerson.

I will probably repost this in the Offseason thread when it is created. It is a pretty good resource of the top HC, OC, DC candidates with a write up on most of the potential head coaches. This list was created before Belichick went to UNC.

Not considering the emails, I think Gruden was still a good coach for the Raiders. His problem is that he had final say on roster decisions and is absolutely awful in those responsibilities. If he goes somewhere where the GM has all the roster building decision making power, I think he can be successful.

I have mixed feelings on his emails. They are awful and he deserved to be fired at the time but I also think he was scapegoated and theres almost certainly similar emails or verbal comments from many currently employed in high positions. I just dont think anyone should be naive in thinking that theres not likely similar talk (or was around this time) among some employed by (or owning) your favorite team.

IMO, that's not an argument for giving Gruden a second chance, it's an argument for digging much deeper into the correspondences of people "employed in high positions".

I support that argument. I generally think he should not coach again but I also hope he wins his lawsuit as someone definitely screwed him over while protecting quite a few others. NFL has allowed a lot of that tyor of behavior for many many years and they should be accountable as well.

Zappe is the tenth quarterback to start for the Browns since Mayfield's shoulder injury messed up his 2021 season.

It's a good thing the Browns' season is almost over, or we'd probably see an 11th scoured from somebody's practice squad for next week.

Looks like we'll have another Harbowl next week.

Uh doesn't he need to complete the catch all the way to the ground?

Can't believe they'll stay with single coverage on Chase after Burrow promised that he'd get the triple crown. He's going to see a lot of targets if he's singled.

I been listening the radio broadcast for both games today. Are the commentators making a big deal of every incentive reached by players today? I just found out that Mike Gesicki made an extra $125,000 for going over 600 yards receiving. I also learned about Derrick Henry's incentives for breaking the franchise single season rushing record. I don't ever remember that being a thing.
