I think what I hate the most, is the series where there aren't ANY pitstops. Takes all strategy away and it all comes down to qualifying.

the V8 has some races like that, but it's also got some reverse grid starts and these can be craaaaazy. And let's not forget starts with total mayhem. Those are great...
Was talking about adding a Le Mans, well, it's done. I just took over a funky looking Audi LMP1 in a series with still 5 races to go. Just looked at the race strat screen a little and woah, this will need some getting used to. Quali is done and there's still 18 hours before race time, so I got some time... FM

Nice first race in the PRC Breedlove wins!
I was all over the place, I think my settings were a bit too agressive |

Not sure if that link has ever been posted here, but some very interesting stuff if you wanna get a sneak peek at future carsets, BATracer Workshops.
The one they seem the closest to have finished is the FIAGT. They seemed to have something going toward a NASCAR carset at one point, but it looks to have cooled off... FM

Just got into this. Pretty neat.
What's the usual wait time for Public games? And are there any FOFC Private games around? (other than the one that just started)

I started 10th... and only had the 10th fastest lap. A lot of luck to get this finish. |

One other thing I use is, at the start of each series I save a copy of my setup with all 50s for the settings. I find it easier to change from that to the engineer's advice than to start from my setting for the previous race.

Also, if anyone wants to hop into the ongoing FOFC Champcar private game, I think Dutch (for one) has disappeared. I believe it would take up a midseason slot. The gameid is 15590 and if I remember right, the password was Vroom.

Double dola, I've hopped into a midseason V8 ride where I'm sitting in 30th, and my driver characteristic is control freak (OK, but not great, especially in a one-characteristic series). Gonna be a challenge to see whether I can pick it up into, say, the mid-teens by season's end.

So is the Engineer's Advice just a rough guide? He'll say something like "medium," and the ending setting ends up being like an 80.

The Engineer's advice tells you what the range of the average setting value is (for ones with front and rear) or the specific setting value is (for singular stuff).
Other than brake bias, low is 0 to 33, medium is 33 to 67, high is 67 to 100. Rarely, you'll get an average one or two points beyond that range. You can take advantage of this to cut down on the possible values for a front/rear setting when you already know the rear/front setting, e.g. if you have front wings at 34 with engineer's advice of "medium", then you know that rear wings won't be lower than 32. (If you've got, say, 0 to 38 range, then you don't even bother testing at 30, you maybe test next at 34 or 36.) For brake bias, safe is 0 to ~45 (typically 40 or lower), medium is 40 to 60, and loose is ~55 to 100.

Dola, there may be more slots open in the Champcar game. kingfc bounced Jesse Leimkuehler (one of the single-car teams, good luck with that...).

if you go to "join midseason game" and enter our game number, it will tell you if there are any drives available. Jesse was the only one available when I checked after you posted the number.
open midseason slots in private games need to be advertised, they don'T show up in the regular "join midseason game" page. Because of that, anybody who would want to join our game should simply enter the game number in the midseason page and see if any drives are available and join at will... FM

See, now I was figuring that Dutch had been gone long enough that he would be eligible for midseason replacement.
Maybe we should try messaging him in-game. Edit: I sent him an in-game PM. If there's no response tomorrow, I'll initiate a sacking.

man, that race was awesome! To give everyone some insight, it's in a V8 Supercars series in which Emiliano and I are teammates. It's the second race of the season, the second of the twin races at Adelaide. Starting order for that second race is the finishing order of the first race so Emiliano started 6th and I started 11th. As I said, that race was awesome! We were so much faster than the other cars, it was scary. I ended up running up the pack all the way to 1st while Emiliano stayed close and despite a driver error that pushed him back from 6th to 16th in the first lap, he finished right behind me, giving Tasman Motorsports the 1-2!!! Oh geez... so I'm 3rd in the series after the two races (with one me being 2nd place), and I had a decent warmup/qualifying, so I'm expecting big things this race.
Here's the start: There is a collision as Posavec attempts to pass Peter Farish for P7! Posavec is out of the race! Peter Farish is out of the race! Farish won the first two races..... his comment: Peter Farish: "for christs sake" What a game. haha. |

So I signed up for one of the academy races as an "instructor", and landed on the same team with another instructor. Oops.
(Yeah, we can still do instruction in driver chat, but I think it'd work better if we were to mentor a teammate.)

Here's a neat little I came accross the other day, it's called the BATracer race exporter. Basically what it does is allow you to save one of your race for reference, or simply future replay.
For example, here's that V8 win I was talking about earlier: http://frogbatracer.googlepages.com/tasmanwin.htm The race exporter is simply a website in which you copy/paste the source of your race page and it will spit out a page of code which you can then simply copy/paste in notepad and save with the htm extention, veyr easy to use. you can find it at this link: http://www.playstation-racing.co.uk/batracer/export/ FM

One of my teammates hasn't been around for a couple days so if you are looking to join a midseason game his spot might be available soon. This is a Champcar series.

if anybody wanna come and help me, SirFozzie has had to put himself on holiday and is out of my Super Aguri team. The game is a public one, but you can enter this number, 15832, in the midseason game page. Driver to replace is David Yellope.
It's not an easy task, but we did challenge the big teams early on, when both of us were doing setups. Now by myself, it was a bit tougher, but still is fun... FM

So is Batracer starting to die down? I made a clan for FOFC. If you go under WR, and do a Clan Search for FOFC you'll find it.

Dan, I think you need to send us some invite if you want us to join the clan. And yes, it seems to have died down quite a bit. Last I checked, 5 seats were available in the FOFC ChampCar series, although this might also be because of Summer vacations...

Dola, it may help that not a single one of my series titles comes from cherry-picking, although only one of them (V8s) is from the post-midseason-replacement era.
