if SD was a balla he'd have replied "that's obviously a farce, everyone knows i don't wear pants/underwear when at home".
i'm sure Gary is loving this. amidst announcement of an exciting new game, talk has devolved into whether or not his site should incorporate a flash intro page and naked black men who are graphics-adverse. titilating! |

Main Page
DDS:PF Manifesto Page Forums There you go - direct links to all the information available about the game - that is if you're interested in a game. Now you don't have to visit a flash webpage anymore if you don't want to. Feel free to even use the bookmark feature of your web browser to save those direct pages so you can access them from any website you are browsing. That way you don't even need to waste time typing!!!111!1! For those of you who hate the flash that much I don't know what to say. I like modern things. I like showing that we may not have 3D graphics capabilities but at least we're willing to try and make things look interesting. Don't worry, its only temporary - we've got more announcements to make coming up and when we do (or actually have some more content regarding the game we're making) it will be replaced by that. In the meantime feel free to go about complaining about a webpage we made. If you would like info or to discuss the GAME let me know or come post on our forums. |

Flash intros are so unprofessional and cheesy. You don't need flashy animations on your webpage if your products are worth buying. It's a lot like those stupid animated gifs from the 90s that people would plaster all over their pubescent websites.
And I think the main question one should ask when they consider putting a flash intro on a website is: "What does this intro tell my customers? Does it bring them closer to buying my product?" The answer is almost always "nothing. no." |

No. Disposable razors tear my face up. I use a Quatro, and change blades once ever 6-8 months. Keeping them dry works like it does with the disposable one. Clark would be disappointed in me, but I can't help that my face is as sensitive as a baby's ass.

The point is the content and Gary agrees - when there is more content, it will replace the gimmicks. And yes, the content pages have to be cool and great to look at and read, not like the amateuristic solecismic.com pages. When a text sim company shows they know how to do HTML/XML well (for example), then when can certainly be hopeful that in-game reports will look great too. Same thing for am easy navigable web site, that bodes well for a user-friendly in-game operation. [/done] |

What about if we get back in topic here and forget about if flash is good or not for games sales?
You guys have a chance to help this game to be a great one. Gary is a guy that listen a lot to his customers as it has been proved in the past, use it to flood him with suggestions and football talk and we all will enjoy the results. I'm so excited about this game, both as text sims customer and as new WS staff member. It seems i joined Wolverine at the perfect time, and while i'm not going to work directly on the football game, (Gary had enough future projects for me already) I'll do my best to transmit FOFC ideas and suggestions to the DDSPF development team while adding also my own. I'm a huge fan of Paul graphics in the other WS games and i'm sure he is going to do an incredible work in DDSPF too. I trully believe on pretty text sims that are also deep. Having the resources to do it, as WS has, there is no need to make ugly games to make them appealing to the hardcore text sim fans. The problem is not if the graphics are pretty or ugly, but if the interface is easy to navigate and not a click fest. FOFC has an "insider" now in WS, i hope it will help to make Wolverine games even more appealing here.

getting back on topic - one thing I hope we see that I almost anticipate seeing is a great free agency mode: bringing players in for workouts, potentially tampering (?), contacting players and sounding them out about your chances with them, different variables going into a desire to sign somewhere (winning team, style of play, coach's record, teammates).
also, for the draft: what about generated college statistics, so we can compare players based on their statistics too? and the usual combine scores, and interviews/private workouts those are just a couple quick early thoughts |

I watched the video of the basketball example draft and the movie caught my interest enough to download the demo and run through a DDS draft. I liked most of the experience, having the draft start and be timed added an interesting element to the game. limiting the time to make the pick/trade really adds to the gameplay.
suggestions based on basketball demo and experience with FOF: - that phone should ring during the human players pick, teams wanting to move up, teams wanting "their" player on the board - trading down should not be as easy as adding up the points and making the trade, the team moving up should really want a player available - the bubble feature is nice when the guys are chatting, but a transcript might be nice so that you can skip to your pick, and read the thoughts and such about the previous picks in a quick manner - the pre-draft workout feature was interesting and is a bit different in the NFL, perhaps a budget to attend pro days would be the right way to go there - Mel Kiper's hair has to be perfect, or I will not buy this game!!! |
