Looking at the list, it was definitely in the era of counting stats. HRs and RBI totals dominate that list.

Well yeah. But I was just thinking guys who would have had good numbers. That was McGwire's rookie season I think. I forgot about Bell though.
I remember 1987 for one thing - the Doyle Alexander trade.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/a...rds_1987.shtml I don't care that Davis didn't win, but 9th seems crazy for that resume.

And in 8th place, with 8.6 bWAR to Davis's 7.9 was Tony Gwynn. What did Gwynn do that year? .370/.447/.511 (.958 OPS) 82 BB (career high) to only 35 K in 680 PA 7 HR but speed 13 3B and (not a misprint) 56(!) SB to only 12 CS SI

I'm never going to grow up. At least that's what my wife told me tonight when I had my daughter buy 8 packs of 5 gum for me since she was going to the store anyway.
Why did I want 8 packs of 5 gum? Because there are codes that get you goodies for the new Avengers game coming out in a couple of weeks. I wanted the 7 PS4 themes you get with the 8th code.

Our teams were crazy of course, as we only had four human owners; what we did was draft from the league, and then we played against each other and the real 1987 teams. If we had a player from that team, he had to sit out.
We wheeled and dealed a lot, but some of the names I remember from my lineup were Gwynn (.370), Molitor (.353), Trammel (.343), Seitzer (.323), McGwire (49 HR). Gwynn at least was a post-draft trade, because our draft sheet has him drafted by someone else. I think I had Pete Guerrero (.338) too, with Kruk and Mike Aldrete thrown in the mix. (I might have dealt McGwire at some point, or lost him in an expansion draft for '88; at some point I believe I had a lineup with Boggs, Henderson, Dw. Evans.) For whatever reason Murphy just never lived up to his numbers, so I went with other options. It's not like I ignored OBP either.

Dawson clearly wasn't the best player, but he had those HRs and RBIs. Jack Clark probably had the best offensive numbers, but he didn't get anything from speed or fielding.

There is a woman in my towns Facebook group complaining that it is unacceptable to her that her newspaper has been delivered at 9AM the last few days. Predictably she is getting crushed, which is a little sad because she is an older lady.
Several comments in someone comes to her defense, claiming the paper is filled with things we need to know such as local sales, obituaries, movie times, local happenings, etc...without a hint of irony that shes posting this on the internet where all that information is easily accessible. |

I'm not a big musical theater guy so I'll throw this out there for the crowd.
What's the "biggest" musical of the 2000s? It has to be Hamilton, right? Before that, it would have been Wicked, I'm thinking? These are things I've heard of and seem to have substantial cultural impacts and I'm not sure I could name another from the last 20 years. This came up as we watched Prince of Egypt and the music was done by Stephen Schwarz who did Wicked and I was talking with my wife saying, I think I'd say he's responsible for the 2nd biggest musical this "century" (I get it, we're only 20 years in) and so it's a bit odd that his music in that was somewhat disappointing. I love the Goonies and the Sopranos, have watched both many times, and just realized, after all these years (while watching the Goonies reunion Zoom from a few months ago), that Ralph Cifaretto and Francis Fratelli were played by the same actor. I was thinking as watching him on the Zoom, "this guy should have been on the Sopranos - wait a minute...."

What is it about a fat slab of beef that makes a good man's mouth water.
One thing on my bucket list is to sit in front of a delicious well-prepared steak so large that I can't finish it.

It was 3 huge ass pine trees near my house. It’s not something I would have wanted to use handyman joe for, for sure. They were all 40-80 feet tall. That’s disposal too. And a tree in the front yard. Yes I could have probably saved money by calling around but $500/tree not exceptionally expensive. |

No. I spent $1500 for a fence and 3 trees to be removed after a storm gutted our backyard.

Switching from a country gal who talked NONSTOP about the most inane and trivial crap imaginable to a service that sends various Latinas who barely speak English was a HUGE upgrade for me personally. It got to the point that I would schedule unnecessary calls Son cleaning day, and sometimes even put my headset on and talk aloud to no one, just pretending to be on the phone.

So I was sitting at an outdoor restaurant along the main street of town about 25 minutes away from where I live. I own some commercial real estate there and just happened to be in the area to stop by and decided to have lunch.
I look over and see a guy I recognize, but not sure where. Right behind him is a woman I definitely recognize. It is a woman who lives in my town, our kids go to school together, I know her somewhat. Facebook friends, that sort of thing. She goes to the same gym as me and 3 of my friends who work out together. The guy was the persona trainer from the gym that 2 of my friends use. Now why were they out together at a restaurant 25 minutes from our town, dressed nicely I may add, not in work out clothes. She either didn't see me or pretended not to notice me. |

I had to contact a business about an appointment, and I marked the box that said I prefer communication by email. I left my phone number too, either the field was required or it auto-filled in. I figured I'd just get an email confirmation of the appointment. But instead they're calling me. Leaving voicemails. I think I might just go with another business.
