They made a Broadway musical out of Jagged Little Pill? Come on.

Eh. 90s music did not age well for me outside of a handful of artists/albums. The only thing I got out of Alanis is that Dave Coulier got a chick to go down on him in a movie theater, proving once again that just seeing someone who is on TV will turn people ridiculously irrational.

Happened to me too but it did finally just show up.

I filed well before April 15th and figured it would take more time with covid. Checked in late May and got the same "in progress" you are getting. Checked in June several times, still the same. Was beginning to wonder about it. I do still mail mine in (with auto deposit to my bank) and had the receipt from USPS so knew they had it.

Then one day in July it just showed up in my bank account.

Wife had a guy out here to do an estimate on having Christmas lights professionally done. It’s. Not cheap.

Have to fess up and say I've thought of doing similar on my trips.

I've visited Angkor Wat (and other temples) and the country is still recovering from their wars, desperately in need for foreign cash infusion. I thought then that if they sold some of the old stones lying around (literally), I would buy one.

In Athens, climbing up the hill to the Parthenon, there are plenty of old stones lying around also. Sell some to tourists at a premium. I can see where wealthier tourists may want a BC rock/stone souvenir.

Tourist apologizes for stealing Roman ruins, being an 'a--hole'
Quote:
An American tourist has returned a fragment of ancient marble stolen from a trip to Rome — along with a note apologizing for “being such an American a–hole.”

The Nation Roman Museum received a bulky package this week from Atlanta, Georgia, which contained the rock inscribed with the message, “To Sam, love Jess, Rome 2017” in black marker, the Guardian reported.

Along with the parcel was a letter asking for forgiveness from a visitor, who museum officials assume was a young woman named Jess.

“In 2017 she must have come to Rome, and took this fragment of marble in order to gift it to her boyfriend,” museum director Stéphane Verger told Italian newspaper Il Messaggero.

Our local Facebook page talks about it being about $300 in our area in suburban Houston (2500-4000 sqft homes)

I dunno - I do my own lights.

I just had to catheterize my father in law.

I think I would have called 911 and have the EMT do it (and pay the $x fee).

I've never really understood the appeal of a McRib until I realized it's basically drenched in corn syrup. Doesn't make it not taste nasty to me personally, but I can at least understand/identify with why it's like crack to some folks (I'll just take my sugar fix in a milkshake).

Beats me which thread to put this in, so "random" will do. It's not serious enough for "mental health", too strictly personal for any of the Covid threads, so here it lands

I'm currently frustrated & furious at myself for my own mistake: I placed a sizable WM pickup order yesterday ... only to have it cancelled due to "operational issues" for the 2nd straight time.

I'm more mad at myself than them because I fucking knew better, I knew they weren't reliable at this point ... but that knowledge didn't pop into my head yesterday when I was TRYING to be helpful in the household & placed it. (usual division of labor: she deals with Instacart orders cause she has the account set up, I deal with WM pickup orders cause I already mastered that one)

I'm just 1000x pissed at myself for being too dim/distracted/braindead to realize that I'd once again end up with no order AND with $100+ tied up for 3 days while the banking unfucks itself.

Not to sound like an old man (though I am), these "McRibs" they keep bringing back don't hold a candle to the original. I craved those things so much back when they first came out. Every iteration since have gotten worse and worse.

I am sitting through three hours of contuing education classes that are super boring. I did learn that in the fall, all the drone bees are cast out of the hive to die because they no longer add value to the colony. That is cold.

Got a sleep apnea diagnosis today. While that really sucks, I've been seriously struggling for about two years now with anxiety, depression, sleep (lol), weight like always, lots of silly basics with hygiene (ick), keeping the house clean, just feeling like almost every little task is monumental. For 3-4 months it got bad enough that I had to bring work into the loop because it started to seriously impact my job performance.

So yeah, I didn't want to have sleep apnea, but the level of sleep deprivation that I'm apparently operating under explains every single problem that I'm having, so I'm really excited to get set up with a machine and start treating it.

If you find one of those, I'd love to know about it. Especially one that does that but doesn't do it by overheating everything and shrinking your clothes.

Had that same complaint for several months, took probably 4 hours to dry even the smallest loads. They'd be warm/hot but not dry.

And then my lawn guy noticed that the outside dryer vent was well & truly blocked with lint.

One vent grate cleaning later & I'm back to drying full sized loads in 45-60 mins.

edit to add: Obviously YMMV, but it seemed worth telling that story on myself -- not my finest hour as a homeowner tbh -- just in case it helps somebody else
