Ok, that's fair. Then the answer is "The Shawshank Redemption" The Running Man is fun early 80s camp (however the movie is significantly dumber than the book). SI

But the actors, especially Richard Dawson, make it a hell of lot of fun. Plus all the TV puns.

My favorite story by King was The Mist. I did not like the movie
I would love to see a movie based off the book The Talisman, co-written by King and Straub

Talisman was great. These old King books really bring me back to my teen years. I always had one with me. Everything he wrote up to Needful Things was great. After that he tailed off except for The Dark Tower books and few other randoms. Another underrated made for TV King was The Langoliers. |

This is not a real toy. Obvious Plant is a website that creates flyers and posters etc. that they then place in real stores to make them look legitimate.

It was when King lost me. 1st hundred pages were great. Then it went to Shite
Lathum, there is a 2nd book in The Talisman story, called Black House. It was okay. Not great.

Shawshank is just a historically, great movie. The Shining and Green Mile are well done, too.
I like the Mist (book and film). I read that King actually liked the movie ending better than his own. Netflix made 1922 into a better movie than I would have imagined could come of the material. |

I have never understood the hype/love for Shawshank Redemption. It's a prison movie....a pretty good prison movie to be sure, but not all that remarkably different from a hundred prison movies that came before it or a hundred more that came after.

I thought it was better acted than most of the genre, maybe better (or just more likable?) characters. AFAIC you're not entirely wrong though.

What was your first King book. Mine was Firestarter. My favorite was It, although I’ve never read it a second time. Favorite short story is The Last Rung on The Ladder. Or maybe Strawberry Spring.

Not sure what my first King book was. I read them all up until IT.
My favorite is The Shining. Scariest book i have ever read. The Mist is my favorite short story. Currently reading The Outsider. Pretty good morning.

Love The Running Man. (Once added it as a new area to a MUD...) No, it's no masterpiece but it is very fun for what it is.
As for reading...I should probably finally read something from King. (Look, I went a LONG time w/o reading fiction.)

(repurposed from my social media, just so the fofc can all enjoy it)
For years it's been debated whether my most likely cause of death will be fast food workers or some other random idiot. I'm going to give you insider info, a hot tip if you will, if you want to play in any of the death pools: it'll be cat related. I'm either going to die from a trip & fall incident involving our youngest cat OR from a stroke/heart attack induced by dealing with his inability (unwillingness) to stay out of my $%@#$ way in the @#$%#$ kitchen. My blood pressure has to look a lot like it's been taken over by internet stock traders.

That's tough when you're stuck in the kitchen fixing meals for the patient :/ This has been a long-running issue with me & that little m'fer. It's just 100x worse now that I'm in the $%@#$ kitchen at least 2x a day. I spend at least (for me) a normal week's worth of time in the kitchen now every single day .. and I'm getting tired of the angina attacks this little bastard is causing. Tonight is at least the third meal I've missed in the past 10 days due to me being in no condition to attempt to eat after having him send me into hot rage orbit. I want his fucking furry ass GONE. To Miami, into the yard, to fucking Pluto, wherethehellever. The only reason I haven't found someone to take him off my hands is ... well, there's two reasons. 1) wife won't hear of it, apparently she likes me be fucking miserable, and 2) I'd feel genuinely guilty inflicting this psycho bastard on anyone else, friend OR foe.

I'm not one to usually say, "I told you so", but, after getting me a ass chewing by the CTO of my company yesterday, for refusing to sign off on a software release, not more than 2 hours later, one of the potential bugs that I brought up, happened big time. I may be a dumb QA engineer, but, I've been doing it for over 16 years now and when I say something isn't ready for release, it's for a good reason. Especially since QA didn't even get their hands on the software until this past Friday.

Huh. I didn't have any issues during or after, other than the temporary cap falling out. But even that was OK because it just moved up my appointment to get the permanent put on.

Went to the in-laws today. Got to listen to my FIL talk about how giants roamed the Earth. Like from the time of Noahs ark until Jesus came. And also portals to other dimensions, etc.
It was interesting and wacky. Think he is starting to lose his mind.

It should be a law that all canned goods must be able to stack on top of each other. I should be able to make a stack of Kroger chicken broth to the sky if I wanted to and not have to worry about it falling over.

yes, if it's rotten, you'll know, and that's different than just cutting the eyes off to eat.

Thanks Also another random question for you: When flying, have you ever gotten on the intercom and randomly announced, "This is your Captain speaking, I would like to assure all passengers that there is nothing wrong with the plane. I repeat, there is absolutely nothing wrong the airplane. Please follow all safety directions. Thank you."? Have you ever been tempted to do so just to screw with the passengers minds?

Not really, because out of my 18 years as an airline pilot, I've only been a captain for about 5 months. LOL! How's that for an answer?
Otherwise, I have made PA's though while we had an emergency, that sounded a little less frantic than that, and a little more empathetic and reassuring that the plane was perfectly fine.
