With the exchange rate, that makes a 5 a 1 and 4 is 100 and a 2 is 666. SI

That's why you run your cable/satellite tuner through your Xbox and watch TV that way. It is already on at that point!

On a related note, the Brazil Now snap app on the Xbox One has been awesome. I didn't get to try out the NFL equivalent, but I'm looking forward to it this fall. Lots of info and stats on the match are easily accessible.

Did anyone else try out the Destiny Alpha? I got an invite over the weekend, despite not having signed up for it.
Awesome balls. Can't wait until it comes out.

It helps when people engage in the discussion rather than engaging in personal put-downs. Tell me why I'm wrong rather than personally attacking me. As most have noted, the people making personal attacks have become far worse than anything I've posted. |

It's because you are trying to debate with an ideology. Look, I don't know many XBox fans on the board who would disagree with "Sony is kicking their ass right now" Many may debate WHY this is the case, but I don't think anyone would deny the fiasco that started before the systems that came out. Despite that, and I know this is some sort of major news flash, Microsoft still doesn't do all wrong and Sony does not do everything right. And please don't spin this, just one response, don't spin it. Last generation you were piping up about how much more powerful the PS3 was, how MS was screwed and coming up with every way you could bash MS (and Nintendo) as possible. Virtually every post you make has two points to it: MS sucks in some way and Sony NAILED IT, THEY ABSOLUTELY NAILED IT. Ummm, you want to have a discussion with unchanging ideology, you aren't in a discussion. You are preaching. That's why the insults come. You will just have to deal with it. |

This is my opinion only with this thread. You don't post discussion topics, or at least it doesnt seem that way. You seem to post blurbs, propaganda, and debate talking points. When no one else is having a debate. Let me make a comparison we are all less "passionate" about. If this was the NBA thread it would be like 4 out of 5 posts from one poster reading. Quote:

Now you want a discussion? Lets talk about what you think MS should do. Or what Sony should do to "bury" MS. Lets not ignore the X1 is still selling a shit ton of consoles, albeit way less than PS4. And lets quit acting like just because Sony is out selling MS that means MS may go broke, or may neever make another console, or should be embarrassed to even exist. 1. Sony has the golden gun in their hands in regards to what they can do to win by a wider margin than they're already winning. Price. It's a simple as that. MS can't really move much further without losing all credibility. They tried to convince the market that the value was there and it wasn't so they've changed course. Sony obviously has room to move. $50-100 move would kill MS's chances. 2. Let's see the June NPD numbers before we go too far with X1. It's a poor time to be trumpeting their sales figures, as they were heavily outsold by the Wii U over the past two months. I've never made any statements or implied any of the other things about MS. They're certainly benefiting from Nintendo's poor showing, allowing a bigger chunk of the market to buy their console instead. But in the end, no one at MS is happy with the situation. They're getting outsold by a few million units 8 months into the console cycle. That's the point where you start making a goal of breaking even in the end, much like Sony did last console cycle. Edit: I should also note that most retailers show that the Titanfall bundle (Kinect included) is selling better than the Kinect-less console right now. That's good for MS in the short-term, but I'm not sure what that means for the long term. Last edited by Mizzou B-ball fan : 06-15-2014 at 04:48 PM. |

In the same way MS had the golden gun last year. It's a damned near slam dunk that Sony wins this generation now. The question is how much? I doubt it'll be to PS2 levels. The only word of caution I would have is that of the die hard console buyers, a vast majority of them went for the PS4. I also think a lot of the PS2 people who had wonderful memories of Sony jumped at the PS4 early. I think MS has room to grow with the people who will eventually get two systems. MS is far from done this generation. Last edited by TroyF : 06-15-2014 at 05:57 PM. |

I'll have to dig through threads, but I think it's closer to 8. I don't think it goes back to 2005 but was definitely by 2006 where I tried to explain to him the differences in coding for the 360 vs PS3 and where each one's strengths and weaknesses were, and despite never writing a line of code for either he was busy telling me where I was wrong. And that's the trick, as TroyF pointed out - when you aren't willing to admit the weaknesses of the position you are defending nor acknowledge the strengths of the opposite side, you are engaging in dogma and ideology, not debate and information sharing.

The trick is: It doesn't MATTER. All that matters is you sell enough to keep yourself a going concern. The big loser over the last few years has actually been Nintendo, but even they aren't really dead yet. This fight over winning and losing is silly.

The key for Nintendo as far as 'dead yet' goes is going to be twofold. 1) If their handheld division can fend off mobile, or at least find a way to co-exist, they'll survive no matter what happens in the console space. 2) As long as they continue to release affordable machines, there is a certain contingent that will be willing to buy a Nintendo console just for first-party stuff. Hell, that's been true going back to GameCube. Wii sort of rode the lightning for 3-4 years, and now Nintendo is in a position of trying to recapture that. Wii U's $299 initial price tag was probably a barrier to that goal, and the confusion they caused the "blue ocean" marketplace with the name of the new console can't have helped. If they wanted to keep it simple for that group, they should have just gone with "Wii 2." Instead, they tried to get cute, have their cake and eat it too. Doesn't work. |

May numbers came in yesterday. No real surprises here outside of the strong showing by 3DS that bumped the X1 to third. PS4 more than doubled the X1 count, but that was to be expected at some level. Next month's numbers will be EXTREMELY interesting.
Edit: Should note the 360/PS3 effect. The 360 seems to have pretty good numbers still, but is that necessarily a good thing for MS? Similarly, the PS3 needs a price cut if they want to sell off units, but do they really want to do that and risk undercutting the PS4 momentum? Quote:

Honestly, both of those companies should ride the gravy train while they can as the previous generation is still profitable. Ditching the PS3 and the 360 does nothing to encourage those 90k people to migrate to the current generation. People who buy previous-gen systems as the new generation begins are doing so for reasons of frugality - in the past, it was because the system had hit a mass-market price point (usually sub-$150). These days, I'd imagine it's because you can build quality libraries on the cheap for either system. If Sony and Microsoft pull the plug, those 90k buyers will either just buy used hardware or sit on their thumbs for a few years and wait for the PS4 and One prices to get more reasonable in their estimation.
I'm flabbergasted that the PS3 and 360 are only just now starting to edge down south of $300. I can't remember a previous generation where the hardware prices stayed so stubbornly in that range. |

I thought Nintendo's E3 presentation was a shit ton better than Microsoft and Sony's. The politician looking guy Sony had talking made me want to throw something through my screen.
