Yes, Cronin told me he is flying in late on Friday night. I doubt any game is going to have a signup and start before tonight, so should just wait till he gets home and checks in (tonight or tommorrow ) to see if he wants to go or not.

If it's alright, Mr. Schmidty and I would like to do a joint game - both GMing. We think that's what would work best since we both have somewhat crazy work schedules. Obviously communication would be easy between the two of us - expect a good story line!

Might be a good time to start a small game, if enough people will be around over the long weekend.

From the response to Jackal's small game, as well as sign-ups for the last few games it seems that it is time to bring back small games as a regular feature on FOFC. However, the focus is going to be on the large games. When we last did small games they started as small and simple games and then crept larger and larger in size. I think this eventually led to burn-out for many players. So the small game guidelines are being established with those things in mind.
Here's how it is going to work: 1. Small games are going to be capped at 11 people, but may be smaller. It is encouraged that priority be given to players not in the large game (whether through choice or death/lynching). 2. They are going to be tied to the large games. No small game will start if the large game has fewer than 16 players. 3. They should start on Day 3 or Day 4 of the large game. In this way some people will be dead for the start, but the small game shouldn't overlap in any substantial way with the start of a new large game very often. 4. GMs are encouraged to keep the small games simple. 5. For hosting priority will first be given to those not signed-up for a large game and then for players who are not in the top 5 for hosting a large game. We're going to see how it goes. I am excited that we're at the point where it seems like we can support 2 games again, but am nervous at the same time. If it seems like the large games, which are our lifeblood, are starting to suffer then I'm going to pull the plug on small games again. However, I remain optimistic that this won't need to happen. ~Barkeep49, Your Friendly Werewolf Moderator Last edited by Barkeep49 : 07-04-2008 at 11:39 PM. |

Very good to see, and I think the "rules" make a lot of sense.

Thanks
I also want to clarify one point: Quote:
What this means is that we have a priority list, rather than a sign-up. Players can be asked to be placed on the list. Any player not on the large game list will shoot above any player who is on the large game list, regardless if the person on the large game list signed up first. Same thing applies to the non-top 5 rule. The idea here is to try and shorten the long game list a little, by giving players an incentive to host a small game. ~BK, YFWWM |

I've been holding off on signing up to run another large game to let people who haven't had chances to run games to run.. so can I go ahead and sign up to run a small/simple game? I'm sure I'll run more large games in the future, but not right now since so many others want to.

Forgot to mention this, but please remember to say if you want a large or small game when signing up from now on.

BK, the game I'm working on is definitely intended to be a "large game". Hopefully this is helpful for scheduling.

FYI, I'll be gone from 8/6-8/11, but I don't think I need to move. CR's game I'd be will take 7/21-7/31 and Jackal's game is unlikely to finish before I get back I'd think.

if anyone wants to jump ahead of me on the small game list, i have my vacation the first week of august, and by the time i would be able to start, based on the progress of the current large game, i would have to put the game on hold while i was away.

I can sign back up and run another small game if no one else is interested. Seems like most of the interest is to run large games.. so I can run the next small game again. Seems like we probably don't have time for this time around, so I could do it when the next large game starts up.

Ok, fine I'll start up a signup list. If we get 6-7 minimum by next Monday we'll play it out.

path you're still a month away and your asking to drop another month. Is that correct?

Correct. In testing my next game I realized it was hopelessly broken and need to start from scratch -- unfortunately, that's coinciding with a time crunch. Thanks!

I thought about that but then Lathum wouldn't play.......I'll likely run another one of those sometime though, that's a fun ruleset to GM.
