Hate to go boring chalk here, but I think that the Pats and Falcons both win close.

Packers are on fire, but they have a lot of injuries, and if Rogers becomes human again, they are a very average team. Falcons have a lot of ways to score points.

The only trip up I see is if Shanahan mails it in because he's focused on the 49ers job.

If I was Shanahan I would say fuck that job and stick around to continue beating ass in Atlanta. Better jobs will come open next year.

I can see where he is coming from. If you knew that he had issues with a knee, you could run routes that would cause him issues having to cut or turn in one direction. Same as if a quarterback had some sort of leg issue. You'd try to flush them out of the pocket as much as possible since they'd have an issue with mobility.

Isn't the whole injury reporting thing supposed to be due to the potential for gambling sharps to get inside info that would give them an undue advantage?

edit to add: Thereby creating temptation for team officials to sell said info

Frame this post, it's actually me saying "Good job NFL" (if they follow through)\

Seattle Seahawks could lose 2nd-round pick after failing to disclose Richard Sherman knee injury

I get that, of course. It just seems strange to me that it's taking the responsibility away from the other team to actually test the player's skill, injury or not.

It's like if Lou Brown had to publicly announce that Pedro Cerrano couldn't hit a curveball.

Yes. Although I think it's more about disguising it as going for transparency among teams while in actuality it is about gambling, which the league would never admit.

I'm really looking forward to both games today. A perfect case of being mostly disinterested, but not uninterested. I will have some stake in certain outcomes, but I don't really "care" who wins among these four teams.

Haven't seen any mention of why the kickoff times of today's games are different than usual. The normal timeslots have been 12pm Central/3pm Central/7pm Central. I just now noticed that the first game broadcast starts at 2pm Central.

The conference title games have been this way for a while. It is to get one of them in prime time.

Huh, looks like they started doing it in 2002-2003. I know I've watched them each year, I guess I never paid attention to the start times until now.

That was a fantastic run by Julio.

I would say that Aaron's eyes look as if he's given up ... but his eyes are always like that. There's just no energy from GB.

Go Falcons, we're due one SB win.

I have been a Falcon's fan since birth. I remember being 11, and crying my eyes out when Danny freakin White tore my heart out in the 1980 playoffs. I have never been as elated as I am right now.

Expect either the Pats or Steelers in the Superbowl to just run the ball a lot to keep this offense off the field.

Who did better? Dom Capers with this defense today or Jimmy Carter with the Iran hostages?

This is still the same Falcons team that found a way to lose to the Chargers. And the Steelers and Patriots both have defenses that are much better than the Packers' D.

I'm rooting for the Falcons. I want Matty Ice to get a ring. But I feel like I've seen this movie a dozen times before.

I would have bet the over if I were a gambler, biggest number in playoff history be damned. Wouldn't have guessed 44 points of it to be the Falcons, though. More like 35.

Congrats to all the Falcons fans. I was cheering for them today. If it's the Patriots, I'll be a major Falcons fan in a couple of weeks. If it's the Steelers, I'll be cheering for the Falcons but won't really care who wins. If you guys end up beating the Seahawks and Patriots in the same year, you will be one of my all time favorite teams.

Congrats to Atlanta. But how great was Aaron Rodgers to pull this awful defense kicking and screaming to the NFC championship game?

This game came down to health. Atlanta is remarkably healthy this late in the year, Green Bay is playing with an arm and a leg crippled. Even with that, I didn't think it would be quite this easy for ATL.

I cant say I understand this? What are you sick of? How good he is? Probably one of the most humble superstars in all of sports. He shreds the Vikings up whenever he plays them but I have great respect how he handles his business. As much as I dislike like the Packers(rivalry) it has nothing to do with Rodgers.

Thanks! So, looking like it'll be New England. Not a surprise. I give the Falcons a good shot, but it will not be easy. It is all just so crazy, thinking how most people didn't give the Falcons a chance to have a winning record going into this season. I thought they were at least a year away with all the rookies and second year guys that were starting on defense. I have a feeling this is going to be the longest two weeks of my life.
