Never thrown a pass at Stanford. It was so Chad Kelly could be released 1 year eligibility remaining. |

I am a huge Florida State fan but I am tired of Jameis Winston. He simply does not get it. I cannot wait until he leaves for the NFL. He has been a headache since he got here.

Tired of being relevant, eh? (Seriously though, I completely understand that some players can be more trouble than they're worth & how we'd pretty much give up any amount of success just to be rid of them)

Probably by not suspending him once more details come out. There's supposed to be a press conference soon with the Minnesota PD. The kid transferred in a few months ago and has no ties here...no reason to not give him a swift kick in the ass off the team.

Missouri QB Trent Hosick transfers to BYU. Will sit out 2014 and will be eligible to play 3 in 3 after. He does think he has a chance of unseating Taysom for Taysoms senior run...shaking my head to that one.

We are happy to have him, we lost Ammon Olson as he transferred in the offseason and won't have Tanner Magnum back until close to the start of the 2015 season. One thing that BYU has done well in the past (not the Riley Nelson / Jake Heaps saga) has developed QBs and the seniors are generally heads and shoulders above everyone. I just don't see Hosick unseating him his senior year. I would love to see him come in, learn as much as he can from Taysom, take the reigns and play his last two seasons as a starter and we would get Tanner the same way. It's a cycle that the BYU faithful are used to and it has worked for us for so many years.

As I'm sure you noted from his comments, he's crazy-competitive. He's one of those kids who doesn't like to be told he can't do something. When he initially considered transferring, his dad asked him if he was OK with letting someone else become the eventual starter at Mizzou. That challenge from his dad actually made him reconsider transferring initially just because he has a lot of pride in finishing something. Definitely was best for him to transfer, but sad to see him go. |

Good parenting DOES still exist.
GT DE declared academically ineligible after not turning in work/attending class. His parents are urging CPJ to revoke his scholarship. "Your job is to go to class, what you’re doing (by not going to class) is you’re stealing.” Hunt-Days’ parents ready to pull him from school | www.myajc.com

Ugh, BYU is told by ACC they won't give them the P5 Scheduling exception they have given Notre Dame, chances are SEC will follow suit.
It's getting ugly on some of the BYU message boards.

No, not a privilege, just thought we could get into the exemption..granted no one likes to play us, especially at home but we have the ability to provide a good game and a boost to SOS than some of the lower teams in the P5. As far as I am concerned, we screwed ourselves when the first expansion happened 4 years ago and went independent and then told the B12 thanks but no thanks, we don't want to relinquish TV rights. That was the nail in our coffin....

Well, there goes the neighborhood....
BYU Cougars investigating allegations of improper benefits - ESPN Don't know what the rumors are yet, they are flying all over the cougar message boards, but who knows what pans out. But one of them is the director of football operations was arranging apartments for the players to hook up with women. I am actually disappointed, even though we weren't winning a lot against the big boys, we were (supposedly) doing it clean. We will see what comes out of this, to me Cody Hoffmans refusal to come in and talk to investigators says there is something out there.

Former player Jake Kuresa's tweets make it sound like it has been going on for awhile, and he thinks it could get bad.
Oh well, good to know BYU is like everyone else. (TIC of course, I know this stuff happens at every college, and it won't be on a grand scale here, but still disappointing.) |

After their suspensions of players for violations of the "honor code", this seems especially hypocritical.

The ACC has made it official and will use 8 Officials per game for every conference game. It will follow the Big 12's model.

Well to be fair, it essentially one person who is under scrutiny and that person was already shown the door last month. Also seems less than what it is being made out to be, but yes, it does come across bad. But remember, the honor code is enforced completely separate of the football program and applies to the entire student body, so this at best is a bad apple in the program that skirted some rules or provided minor benefits not realizing they were illegal or thought it was not a big deal. Still stupid with the scrutiny the program is under based on it's strict standards of conduct, but even programs like this and the services academies have worms in them and it is near impossible excise them all. The one thing that works in their favor is they addressed the issues and have been investigating for several weeks before it became public, which includes going to the NCAA. |

Im sure most of you havent looked at Iowas upcoming schedule. I will post it. It is a schedule that could see Iowa going undefeated. Can you say "Iowa is in the Playoffs!"
August 30 Northern Iowa (FF) September 6 Ball State 13 Iowa State (Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series) 20 at Pittsburgh 27 at Purdue October 4 Bye 11 Indiana (Homecoming) 18 at Maryland 25 Bye November 1 Northwestern (FW) 8 at Minnesota 15 at Illinois 22 Wisconsin 28 Nebraska (Hy-Vee Heroes Game) (S) The toughest road games are at Pitt and at Maryland. We host Wiscy and Nebby. There is no MSU, Mich, PsU or tOSU. They are in the East. This road is relatively easy. Its put up or shut up for Ferentz. It cant get much easier.

The problem will be getting past the conference title game to get to said playoffs. Odds of Iowa beating whoever comes out of the West is going to be low.

True. But the one thing about Iowa is that they play better as the season progresses. Not saying they beat tOSU or MSU. But stranger things have happened.
