cmp - if I create a .car file from a design I've done, would you be able to see if it works in your mod? I'm still not clear on how that works.

Race #10 - Peace Tea 400 from Myrtle Beach Results

Well it looks like Trick Dickle and the DoubleTap Racing team have figured out any problems they were having the past few races as the #15 car led 266 of the 400 laps en route to an easy win in the Peace Tea 400. Cannon Pace was the only other car left on the lead lap in 2nd while Aemon Snow finished 3rd, Sir Wolf Howlington 4th and Dexter Jackson 5th.

Trick Dickle increases his lead to 15 points as Cannon Pace moves into 2nd, Dexter Jackson is 3rd, Bo Duke 4th and Nick Harold 5th. Alejandro Murrieta, Ace Idol, Avery Thomas, David Gonzalez, and Patrick Hutt round out current Chase eligible drivers. Mustafa Henderson and Luke Duke hold the wild cards.

22th, again in a bad position, we had to make a lot of adjustments if we want to be in the chase, we are going to work day and night.

Nice Top 5 finish that puts us 3rd in the standings. I'm liking where we are sitting with only 5 races to go until the chase. What a turnaround a season makes.

FC Racing will take that result.

I hope we took Murrieta's car and hid it prior to post race inspection. That was one heck of a qualifying time compared to the rest of the cars.

Race #11 - Watkins Glen Results

Fox McCloud took the pole but only led a lap before falling back into the pack. His team kept making adjustments throughout the day however and with only 8 laps left he took the lead from Cannon Pace and took the win, all by locking up a spot as a wildcard in the Chase with his second win.

McCloud is pretty secure as the first wildcard. The second will be more interesting. Helen Wheels will have to hope that Luke Duke and Mustafa Henderson, who are 10th and 11th and have a win each, overtake Chris Snow, who is 9th without a win. If Henderson displaces Snow in the top 10, Wheels becomes the second wildcard, as the highest-ranked driver outside the top 10 with 1 win. Four races to go...

Only the second top 10 of the season for Sterling.

So, I have a curious question: how similar do the top ranked cars look in terms of stats? Is this a case where there's a ton of randomness and it's just luck? Or is there just some builds that work a lot better than others and those at the top just have the "magical" best builds?

SI

Ahh, not a great race, but we have both drivers in the Chase group now. Looking forward to moving on to some better tracks, and solidifying our positions.

There's 2 bits of randomness that go into this for each race.

First is your stat range, your stat # for each item for each race will be different, it will range between the numbers you set for it. So your stats will probably never be the same twice. But its all based on what you set up.

Second, the required BEST setup for any given race also fluctuates in pretty much the same way. Weather(if used) and all the track settings are adjusted by the game engine when the race is run, so you are never 100% certain of what the perfect stat-line will be to match a given track on a given day.

So while yes, it seems random and magical, there IS a certain specificity that you can put into your stat-line to make you perform better over the length of a season.

Yeah RendeR summed it up pretty well. Over the course of the years it seems a few drivers have figured out a stat set that gives them the best chance for success. Snow and Phillips always are strong and that has to do with the stats they have. I can tell you that the set ups for Snow and Phillips are very similar, not identical but very close in a lot of categories. Now it looks like Trick Dickle probably has figured out the best stat set and his is a bit different from the others. 9 wins in 31 races so far over two seasons is impressive so he clearly has something figured out.

Race #12 - Mountain Dew 500 Results

Kyle Kappe took the pole, led the most laps, and took back the lead at the end when it mattered most to pick up his first win of the season. Kappe took the win after Elliott Foley, who looked to be on his way to the win, got hung up in lapped traffic. Wade Moore took the lead for a lap from Foley before being overtaken by David Ginsberg and then Kappe. Alex Donovan ended up 2nd, Erik Flamebeard 3rd, Foley 4th, Moore 5th, Ginsberg 6th, Ace Idol 7th, Nick Phillips 8th, Travis Elkin finished 9th and Mustafa Henderson rounded out the Top Ten.

Cannon Pace takes the lead by 1 point over Trick Dickle. Cannon hasn't been spectacular but has remained consistent. Dexter Jackson holds onto 3rd while Ace Idol moves up three spots to 4th. Avery Thomas is 5th followed by Nick Harold, Bo Duke, Chris Snow, Mustafa Henderson and Nick Phillips rounds out the Chase drivers in 10th. Fox McCloud holds the first wild card spot and Alejandro Murrieta holds the second.

To-Paw Racing thinks that Snow Motorsports should go get stuffed and learn how to drive properly in Pit Row!

After further review we have decided that Snow motorsports should not have a grandma racing anymore because it interferes with her watching Matlock and Murder She Wrote weekend marathons.

That Brickyard video was hilarious, it seems like some of the drivers mistook it for a demolition derby. The 58 car in particular was cop stopping everyone in sight!
