Just bought both the Witcher 3 DLCs. Hearts of Stone was a little underwhelming, not bad but not up to the high standard the game set. Story was a little silly and not a tremendous amount of new content.
I'm currently part way through Blood and Wine and it is phenomenal. It's almost The Witcher 3.5, the amount of content is staggering, hands down more than 90% of full $60 games out there. In short, if you own The Witcher you should buy Blood and Wine, today. Last edited by jeff061 : 06-12-2016 at 08:09 AM. |

So I've recently uncovered the treasure trove that is RPG games on my Nintendo 3DS. I blitzed through Bravely Default and am now working on Fire Emblem: Awakening. Xenoblade Chronicles is on my radar...anything else I should be looking for on the 3DS?

I enjoyed Witcher 3 for the time I played it, but the lengthy cut scenes ending up killing it for me. I need to give it another shot though, because the story itself as well as some of the main quests seem to get rave reviews.

Dragon Quest 7 comes out in September. You could also try Tales of the Abyss if you're a fan of the series. ETA: I'm assuming you already know about the Bravely Default sequel and Fire Emblem Fates.

The best/my favorite 3ds RPG in the last few years is The World Ends With You. It's different, pushes the genre in some different ways, and is pretty good. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_World_Ends_with_You http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/...4&postcount=38

I played TWEWY for a little while, finally started to enjoy it, then they changed the rules on me. I put it down for a while and haven't gone back. I should pick it back up again, easily the best use of the stylus and dual screen technology I've seen.

Are Shadowrun Returns or Shadowrun Dragonfall (Director's Cut) any good? And if so, which one is better? I have some Amazon credit about to expire and they are $3 each....

The Trilogy is on Steam Summer Sale for <$5 I think.
All three games are good, and the series build on each other.

The Long Dark is pretty fun, although it's EA but like $7. I've had fun trying to survive so far.

I picked up the Long Dark when it first hit early access. The updates aren't consistent, but the guy working on the game does update it and it is fun. Once story mode and all of the other promised features get into the game it should be really, really good. |

Maybe I'm just old, but I downloaded Pokemon Go on the train, captured a pokemon that was sitting on the seat in front of me, saw the little GPS/google maps screen, wondered if that's all there is to the app, then uninstalled.

I've never owned a console in my life, but this seems like a good way to be introduced to them. Comes out in November for $59.99:

Nintendo has been pretty good about having their old games available on things like virtual console, but it's still pretty heartening to see one of these classic editions actually produced by the company which made the first one (not that with Nintendo there would really be another option).
I've bought some old Intellivision compilations/classic consoles, and they never seem to quite get things right. Either the controls are a little off, timing is off, sound is off, they come wrapped in a frustrating interface, or something. Little doubt Nintendo will get this right.

A little bummed that RBI Baseball isn't included, but I'm going to have a hard time resisting buying one. For my son. Not for me, for my son.

Have any of you tried making your own emulator with a Raspberry Pi? You can bulid one pretty easily for cheap and load it up with thousands of games on multiple consoles.

I did this with one of the new Raspberry Pi 3s and a hard drive. Put it into a small case, and hooked it up to the screens in back seat of the car. On the trip to Big Bend last week, my cousin's sons played it a bunch.

I did, it works really well. My biggest issue was getting the bluetooth dongle and my ps3 remote to cooperate, but it works really well for most games. The pi struggled with stuttering on some games but that was 2 versions ago. I think the new ones are much more capable. |

The rather obvious impact of Pokemon Go has me wondering ... has anyone managed to do anything of the sort for console? And if not, how far away is the tech from being able to handle it?
Logistically, let's say instead of using your camera (which obviously wouldn't work as well) it was tied to Google Earth 360 mapping, or something of the sort?

Rimworld is at Alpha 14 and looks like fun from Youtube viewing. Anyone played it (a search came up with only three posts from 2014)?
If purchased, would you go with the Steam buy or the one from the author website directly? Thanks.
