Vegas had it a 4 point spread and Kenpom said 3. Definitely a bit of a surprise. Hopefully UNLV gets rolling a bit here. Next three games starting soon! Looking forward to the Mizzou/CSU game and to see VCU in action again. I've seen them three or four times already this season.. |

Yeah, not going to happen. When we start playing like shit like this, we generally don't bounce back.
Another fucking one and done. Ugh.

I never understand the Belmont love at ESPN. Arizona was going to kill them on the boards and their one perceived advantage (3s) was deceptive when you look at how they shot 3s against similar athletes at Kansas and VCU. To win, Belmont was going to need to hit half their 3s - which was double what they hit in the VCU/Kansas/Stanford games.

Man UNLV plays so fucking dumb sometimes. The game should be closer to a tie at least.

Vegas is a public opinion poll designed to equalize the betting. With ESPN pumping Belmont as a potential upset pick, it makes sense the line was close there. But ESPN doesn't know squat about the Pac 12. You are really better off just ignoring anything ESPN says about the Pac 12 schools in basketball, because they don't allocate the resources out here to properly cover the region. Arizona is a richly talented and athletic team. It is at times sporadic and inconsistent in its play, but it's a very talented squad. Ken Pom, I'm not sure what his methodology is for setting lines, so I can't speak to that.

yep, PAC 12 got shown no respect. UCLA and Colorado both play very inconsistent teams tomorrow. I wouldn't be surprised if the conference was 5-0 or at least 4-1 after tomorrow. Selection committee will have a lot of egg on their face. Oregon is the real travesty IMO |

I was totally disappointed today. My game watching apparatus at work was awesome.
I was working on my work desktop and monitors, my laptop had one game on one side of the desk, my tablet had the secondary game on other side of desk, and my phone was underneath my work monitors in the middle. They had the early games staggered so that there were only 3 not at halftime or between games at any time so it was all I needed. And the annoying thing: I work with no one who appreciates basketball so no one gets just how great it was. Heck, many of them were actively anti-basketball because it ruined their normal watching habits. There's something I miss about living in Kansas, Indiana, or, to a lesser extent, Richmond- they understood that these days were holy days for those of the college basketball religious persuasion. SI

Why isn't the player jacking up a full court shot in anticipation of the foul?

Regarding missing free throws on purpose late in the game - would it be possible to master the skill of throwing the basketball baseball-style, as hard as possible, against the rim to where it bounces back and you can catch it back behind the free throw line (before anyone else can step in and get it)? I'm sure I tried it as a kid, but, couldn't an athlete with a strong arm do that?

Sorry Izulde. As a UCLA fan, I know what it's like to see a team come along with a world of talent, only to disappoint in the postseason. And in college basketball, that window to succeed is even shorter with players jumping to the League as soon as they can. Rice is a good coach. He will get the Running Rebs back in good shape again. The only bad news is that Howland is expected to lose his job as soon as UCLA loses its next game, so Rice will lose his most fertile recruiting ground (dispirited UCLA transfer targets). Lots of talent in CA for Rice to come back with.

Yeah it's just frustrating. 5 years since we've made it out of the first round (2008), 6 since the last Sweet 16 (2007).
I'm not sure if we'll be improved next year or not. AB is going pro, Marshall, Hawkins, and I think Q are graduating. Well, losing Marshall may actually be a plus. He's not a true point guard and tonight was the first game I can actually remember seeing him trying to distribute rather than be ball hog. We need more size inside, though. But then, I've been saying that for the last few years.

VCU and CSU making up for the lack of scoring today.

Oh sorry. That totally makes up for the utter and complete butt kicking that Arkansas is having it laid upon itself right now or the fact that one of the most talented recruiting classes ever couldn't win a single NIT game. I also didn't mention the Big Ten. If you wish to go there, right now this year in basketball the SEC dreams of holding the Big Ten's jock strap.

These teams play so damn slow this year. Overcoaching to an extreme today. Let your talent go out and play. Hate when teams with more talent slow down the game against lesser talented teams. Talk about setting yourself up for the upset and playing right into the opposition.

That is one empty building for VCU & Akron. Not sure what the crowd looked like when it started.

well maybe it has something to do with the fact that VCU is showing absolutely no class whatsoever...a 40 point lead and still shooting 3s and running a full court press is just a sad display on the part of their coach |

At this point in the season I think you gotta let 'em play pretty much however they usually play. Too big a risk of getting out of synch & falling into bad habits with every game being potentially the last.

Better yet, will trolls like you allow Mizzou to die in this thread? Mizzou continues to have one huge problem that has persisted all year long. Phil F'n Pressey. If he comes back next year, he better have a major attitude reversal. |

I will say one thing. For those of you in the Lexington area, there's going to be a helluva party after this game. You know what happens when Mizzou co-eds and Larry Eustachy get together after a game.

I dont consider it trolling when he pimps Mizzou the entire year like when they made that "statement" against South Carolina. Its fine and all to root for your team but a guy needs a little perspective about his/her team. Kind of sets himself up for it. They are who we thought they were |
