Do retailers charge these shoplifters after they drive away? Seems like with video inside the store & parking lot it would be pretty easy. The one with the gimpy leg should be easy to find.

Burlington store in Sacramento is raided by trio of female shoplifters who make VERY slow getaway pushing shopping carts filled with stolen booty | Daily Mail Online

It is interesting that retailers are making a conscious decision not to confront them (maybe have mall cops & like). You wouldn't think this is sustainable. As more and more of these get in the news, it's just going to snowball.

I mean, if the police weren't deciding which crimes to punish and which ones not to punish it wouldn't be so bad. But when they are 'too busy' or it 'won't be worth their effort', then it doesn't really matter what the retailer does. I feel like some of the stuff I've bought off ebay has been fenced. No other explanation for it really.

What's that the right says when black men are killed? If you don't break the law you don't have anything to worry about? I think this shows that isn't a valid take. Yes, there are very different criminal systems for people. It's not always color, and it's not always socioeconomic, but you can damn sure bet, it's there, and the relationship is statistically correlated.

The whole point of this as a understand it is the law was changed so the most they can get is a misdemeanor. And since that is such small potatoes, the police aren't even wasting time to investigate these cases. It was a really, really dumb law change that is having serious consequences in areas that were affected. I don't know why or how any major chains have stayed in those areas.

Of the police, stores, prosecutors, state legislature, and local government leadership, the police have the least power about whether and how shoplifting is prosecuted in an area. Police themselves don't make as much policy as people think, they carry out the policy decided by others.

Most shoplifting isn't even reported. Stores don't want the police presence in their stores, employees are just told to ignore shoplifting. Shoplifters have figured this out. There's an overall lower appetite from prosecutors and local government leaders to prosecute any low level offenses, some of that based on expressed preferences from their communities through voting and other feedback. A lot of stores have closed. There was a San Francisco Whole Foods that lasted one year. I know someone that works at a Berkeley Whole Foods with similar issues. It's kind of a wild social experiment going on in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest. (and not just with shoplifting, but with the homeless population, traffic enforcement, etc.)

I just ordered 30 sildenafil which is the generic viagra. Cost me $10 on Mark Cubans site. Would have been almost 1K through CVS.

I guess I meant generic Viagara but a good sized seedless bucks now, so surely that watermelon wouldn’t last a month so. I don’t know like three watermelon a month maybe like five, if you keep it in the fridge?

Cialis better.

I'd like to try it just to try it, but pretty sure I won't like it.

In celebration of National Mustard Day on August 5, the candy brand has partnered with French’s to make its first-ever mustard-flavored skittle. A press release describes the candies as having a “tangy mustard flavor” combined with the candy’s “iconic chewy texture” doused in a yellow coloring.

Don’t expect it to see it on store shelves – near the mustard or the candy aisle. People brave enough to try the new flavor can do that at French’s “Mustard Mobile” that’s stopping in three US cities, including Atlanta on July 31, Washington on August 2 and New York on August 5. (There’s a website for exact time and locations.)

I get helping out your adult children when there is 21+% percent unemployment but below solution in China is ridiculous.

If my kid was unemployed, it'd be room & board, help out with yardwork, run some errands, and continuous updates on job search progress. I know China doesn't have unemployment insurance like in the US, but heck if I'm going to pay anything extra, least of all the "national average salary" for my kid while unemployed.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/chine...110000305.html
Quote:
Many Americans got an allowance when they were children, a few dollars of pocket cash a week, usually in exchange for doing household chores. In China, youth unemployment is so bad now that some adult children being paid allowances as large as the national average salary, in exchange for basically being a kid.

On Chinese social media, the hashtags #FullTimeDaughter and #FullTimeSon have millions of views each. Full-time children get paid to be their parents' kids, including spending time with them, joining them on outings, and doing household chores. They serve as hybrids of kids and multitasking assistants who shop, cook, and clean for their parents. Most of these full-time children also have the benefit of free room and board in their parents’ homes.

Some numbers below on the scope of the problem ...

Quote:
Unemployment in the world’s second largest economy is a huge challenge, as three years of China’s draconian “zero COVID” policy greatly slowed the economy. In June, the unemployment rate for Chinese people aged 16 to 24 was a staggering 21.3%—an all-time high, up from 20.8% in May. With one in five Chinese Gen Zers out of work, the full-time child arrangement of earning a living wage for doing simple chores and hanging out with mom and dad can be appealing. Over 4,000 full-time children populate a community forum on the Chinese social site Douban.

Just think, China has 4,000+ Michael Rotondos in the making.

Dig a little deeper though than the article points out that this is a pretty small segment of the population, as it's really only affordable to the middle class and above.

Interestingly, China may have one of the broadest official definitions of "middle class" I've ever seen. The range (per the govt) is $7,250 to $62,500

Eh, there's around 230 million people in that demographic age cell in China.

I imagine we have more doing the same thing (at least effectively) in metro Atlanta alone

I have a friend who was the regular handler (I don't wanna say "escort" cause the friend is female and that'd just sound wrong lol) for several years for The Amazing Randi.

Since we're just name dropping random people, my sim partner for training a couple years back was the brother of one of the B list actors that starred in Saving Private Ryan (among other things).

How often does a forward handoff beyond the LOS happen? Like on fumble plays, or the end of game lateral plays? Basically, anything that looks like a rugby scrum, I imagine. If that's the only intent of the rule, I wonder who thought it was so important that it needed to be outlawed.

I've had a head cold for the last few days. I hate that I have started doing old man sneezes, like my father used to do, where I do five sneezes all at the same time!

No, I don't mean one after the other either.
