Hmm. OK, A might be the option if Mrs. S was the lead wolf and was the only one who could order the kill. Sounds awkward though. B -- I just don't understand what you're getting at here. Seems to me if a wolf was going to make a kill they would be exempt from a duel that night rather than the opposite. But I'm fuzzy on how the duels are determined anyway. C -- Lathum pretty much ruled that one out. D -- Possible. If that's the case we're in good shape the further along the game goes depending on how many wolves there are. But can you imagine how much the game could drag out towards the end if you've got say 1 wolf and two villagers and they're all bouncing to different cities every turn? Could make a month long game!

Anyone have any thoughts on my idea of setting up the locations?

This makes more sense to me. These duels are a weird dynamic. I'm hoping things clear up as we go along.

Just a way to avoid too many deaths. Wolf wins a duel and does a kill seems a little lopsided to me. I'd buy the opposite too.. I'm unsure of the duel mechanic also

I am going to let things play out this afternoon a little before placing a vote. I am looking at two people in particular based on what has perspired up to this point and I am hoping that I can narrow it down a little.

Well, I'm of the ilk that someone had to have at least tried to save Mrs. S. Obviously Narc wasn't that person. I don't think Saldana is (he's better than that). I'll vote here instead

I wonder whether if there are more than two in a city if there would be no duel. I have a feeling there were several folks in Boston last night.

I was in Boston and I felt the presence of others there as well last night. So just being in the same city as someone else doesn't seem to trigger the duel. |

My guess is that dueling depends on the weather (the rainier the higher the chance of a duel) and the presence of two people in a city.

Nice catch. Given that Lathum commented on the 60% chance of rain in Dallas and linking to the weather channel in the opening. Might want to stick to places with little to no chance of rain unless you are feeling frisky.

Maybe duels only happen when there are only 2 highlanders in one town, or an even number or something. Since there were 3+ in Boston last night, no duel?

only problem with the weather theory is that there is no mention of rain in my duel with telle.

dola, perhaps it is the other way around...no rain = duel, thats why the rain in dallas was a surprise.

I thought it was some kind of inside joke between you and DT or something.. yeah SF weather is miserable. My in-laws live there. As Mark Twain once said, "The coldest winter he ever spent was a summer in San Francisco" |

It's pretty horrific actually *in* the city. Suburbs/San Jose where I am, it's nice. But in the city, it's like a blessed occasion or a heat wave if it tops 75. Ick.

Gotta add though, when hell is frozen over and it does happen to be nice in the city, it's a friggin majestic place to be.

Yeah, I am actually leaving in about 15-20 minutes myself until after deadline most likely. I'm still trying to catch up to the discussion from day 1. Is there anyone that has not checked in, voted or anything yet this game? No wolf action for multiple days perhaps point to no wolf activity for multiple days?
Otherwise the only person that I got a bad feel about earlier was Path based on some comments he made , or how he made them.. but I know he was one of the ones that broke the tie on Mrs.Schmidty yesterday. That could have been a hedged bet that since she didn't show up yet in PM to him either, and was close on the vote race he cut his losses there to gain trust later.. but I think on day 2, its probably better to give him the benefit of the doubt since he was one of 2-3 guys that had important votes on killing off Mrs.Schmidty... So right now I'm going to try to see if there is anyone else who has yet to be active this game and may just go that way. |

Did The Jackal get a vote in yesterday? Looking through people's summarization of the vote counts I don't see where he got one in. I saw night 1 (I think) he mentioned something about trying to get an order in but not getting it in on time, and then yesterday didn't see any vote or comments from him in quick skimming.
I'm thinking I might vote for him if nothing else presents itself before I have to leave. I really should have caught up on day 1 reading today, but it was just too busy at work.. so if something happened during day 1 that explained the jackal's actions or why I'm going down the wrong road here, please someone tell me so. |

Ahh, reading back through I see where he posted at 7:30am this morning explaining his no vote.. but more importantly if he was bad he could easily have gotten an order in.. so that shoots holes in that theory.

Possibly the weather in New York is key and not the other cities. Also, is it possible that chances of a duel increase if you go to the same place in a city? I got referenced to a baseball game, then last night I was in DC and visited the shopping district. but I got no feeling of anyone else's presence which I did get the prior night in Philly.

Yeah Jackal has been probably the "least" active thus far. But yeah, I think we can't possibly get lucky on that road twice.

Illini, I didn't get a response to this. I noticed Narcizo asked the same thing -- what was it about NTN that had you feeling "that high" that he isn't a wolf?

I'm not vetoing you. I'm voting for you though. Basically because I think you tried to artificially start crap on me yesterday when I was championing a pretty standard Day One line of thinking, one that actually worked in fact. Plus I didn't like your vote at all (breaking a 2-2 tie the wrong direction, or at least the supposed wrong direction if we weren't wolf/wolf). In my experience it's around the 2-3 vote level that wolves start to worry about one of their own getting heat. |
