Buy 2 used games get 1 free at gamestop this weekend (12/10 - 12/13) these deals are good , because often you can find very recent new games used at Gamestop, probably could pick up somethings like Assassins creed 2, MW2 and dragon age for 100 bucks, that works for me.

As much as I hated Steam with it's debut in HL2 I must say that it is a wonderful thing now.

Upon discovering that my laptop is actually pretty decent i got into PC gaming more (and am considering selling my 360 once i get it repaired by MS, again ...) , it´s pretty astonishing how freaking cheap those games have gotten over the years, even new ones. Yeah, yeah, the hardware makes the money but still.
And for old games, for the 360 a 2,3 year old game will allways cost 30 instead of 4.99 or 9.99 for the PC. Seriously, why not at least try to get them off the shelfs ? The steam holiday sale is pretty great. I just signed up for steam only yesterday to download a couple demos there, now i think i´ll spent the 40 euros i just earned for selling FIFA10 for the 360. Was kind of hoping Spore would be for sale at a much lower price ... Allways though about trying that one, but not for 30-40 ... will most likely buy - Mirror´s edge - Toca Race Driver 3 OR Race 07 - Prince of Persia - The Sands Of Time - Braid |

Last year there was an even bigger sale that started around Dec. 26. I went a big hog wild on that. Steam is fantastic. I know people complain about it, but much of what they complain about appears to be over my head from a technical standpoint. The ability to buy games for very cheap, right on the spot is fantastic. Just last night, I fired up my laptop to check work email, saw that "Freedom Force" was on sale (one of my favorite older games) and bought both the original and sequel for $5. I am eagerly awaiting "Mass Effect" to get somewhere around $5-$10. I want to play it so I can play the sequel. No rush though, I still have a long, long way to go on Dragon's Age.

love steam!!
saw the other day that Star Wars: KOTOR was on-sale for like $2.99. Figured "well gee I never played that." Picked it up and got way more than my $$-worth. Then the other day saw that Jedi Academy was on-sale for $5.99. Went and looked and the whole "Jedi" bundle was on-sale for $19.99. Easy buy. And I have more than gotten my $$-worth out of Jedi Academy I alone. Add in the ability to store my FM savegame in a Dropbox folder outside of Steam and the fact that means that on dead days at work (like today for instance) and lunch-breaks I can fire up FM for a short spin, and I am a total Steam-convert.

bought World of Goo, Mount & Blade and WWSM 2009 among others in last year's sale on Steam. Looking forward to getting a few cheap ones again this year. Freeomd Force will most assuredly be one of them.

I couldn't resist this morning either. I got Defense Grid, Audiosurf, Braid, Medieval TW II, and Evil Genius, for a whopping 14 bucks. I am going to add The Witcher directors cut for another 14 if I can get the demo running on my laptop.

This Audiosurf game is like Crack, what an amazing idea for a game
unlimited variability in a "timewaster"-type game ? Uh, oh, i need to stay away from that ... (for anyone not knowing anything about it : You can take any song from your harddrive and let the game make a "level" out of it) Just put "audiosurf" into youtube to see examples. |

So far I've bought GTA IV for $7.50. I'm really thinking about grabbing Evil Genius. It looks like a nice time waster though it sounds like it could get boring in parts. Anybody played it?

It's fun, but can be slow. For 1.99 I picked it up again. If you ever played Dungeon Keeper it's the same game with a different setting.

I strongly suspect Dragon Age Origins will be one of their upcoming daily deals. It is one of the few games in their library not currently on sale.

Even tho it's no longer on sale for $3, I think I'm going to toss down the $5 and get KOTOR to play while I'm on vacation and give Steam a whirl.

Dola.
And steam is no discs. Which is brilliant cause I'm forever misplacing computer games. Wife will take them out of the drive, 3 days later I can't find the disc and the game is forgotten about. |

I had issues downloading out of Seattle (default), Chicago, and DC. I finally got in on Atlanta and am getting KOTOR at about 200Kbs.

I totally agree. I only played it for about 3-4 hours at friend's house a few weeks back and thought it was fantastic. A great game that really makes you feel like you're Batman.

well, this is odd. I installed the demo of Freedom Force and when I try to run it, I get a message that says "Freedom Force is incompatible with this version of Windows." and that I should contact EA tech support. Of course, on EA, a seach gives nothing back about Freedom Force...
I run XP with SP3... FM

I had success by changing where I was downloading from. The default of Seattle is probably constantly hammered, but I found luck in Atlanta after Chicago and DC were also full. But that was fairly late last night.

interesting, found this on the steam forums: Incompatible with this version of Windows? (Fully Up-To-Date XP Media Ceter) - Steam Users' Forums looks like the game was patched to 1.3 AFTER the demo was released and that the full game should work on everybody's system... Apparently the demo for the second game is running normally, so I'm downloading that one to give me a feel for the game... Still, $5.01 isn't a big risk for the whole package. FM

Been browsing the games and I'm tempted by Hinterland, anyone here has played this?
Also, seeing how there's a pack of three Tilted Mills games for $14.99, who knows anything about Children of the Nile and Mosby's Confederacy? Thanks in advance. FM

Children of the nile is pretty fun if you are into Caesar city building games. It came after Caesar so they fixed some things and added more stuff. Think on a Tropico based in the old Egypt.
