1. The early the information is out there the easier it is to coordinate 2. I had a sense of strategy heading into the game, having, you know, actually read the rules before the game started. I knew that we didn't have to lynch our way to victory and so the key lied in winning the camps over. So when it was pointed out to me that everyone had a role it seemed like a perfect way to help further this goal. I admire the fact that you can articulate your reason for discomfort and separate that discomfort from the logic of the argument. I don't want to be accused of lathuming you any further, so I won't push it with you, though I do still hope that of the 8, by my count, who haven't revealed or stated they wouldn't, that most will choose to reveal. If nothing else it helps us to perhaps figure out whether or not the idea of 3 claiming the same role is credible. |

That's the best reason I've seen so far for the reveal idea, but I don't think it requires everyone to reveal -- which still just seems early in a game where we don't know all the consequences yet -- for example, Abe said that it might not be such a good idea to put our race out in public. However, if we know how many types of skillsets there are, it should make it easier to believe whether or not 3 in the same role is believable. Since I know for a fact (assuming that people have been truthful in the revelations so far) that two is possible, three doesn't seem like a big stretch to me -- especially when you consider that there was an open number for signup. I suspect there are five or six skillsets that are repeated amongst us. Sympathizers included.

I specialize in food distribution.
I was going to post that I didn't remember (since I read it this afternoon) but then a miracle happened. I realized that we have this thing called an In Box where we can read the PM to see just what it said. |

Um, yeah. Like I was saying, there are eight skills and twenty players so half the skills probably have 3 and half 2 players associated with them. Though if die were involved the distribution could be skewed.

This started quick, and this is one of the longest days of my life. I'm beat, and don't understand the actions I'm supposed to take. I work until 5 PST tomorrow, so I should be able to vote. I have Wed and Thu off, so I'll catch up.
Sorry, I'm out in my chair and going to bed.

Some interesting discussion, but I am firmly on side of BK's logic in that more information almost always helps the villagers.

Been a long, long day (my two-job day, for those of you who are new).
I just read through the thread, and my mind is tired to grasp much. I will weigh in a little on the reveal debate, though. And that's that, right now, I don't see a reason for full reveals from everyone. Information helps the village coordinate, yes. But it also helps the wolves coordinate as well, and we don't have any clue what sort of powers and abilities they have. I do think some people should reveal--those who have gladhanding or oratory as their specialties. Those people should announce this, and put in for that work. I don't see a reason for the rest of us to reveal yet. We do not have skills that are needed yet (and I'm not yet certain the Searching skill is isable on the mission, although it would certainly make some sense). I do think everyone who is not especially skilled at today's two skills should say so, so it's clear they are not skilled in these two options. For instance, I will not reveal what my skill is at this moment. But I will say it is NOT gladhanding or oratory.

Here's what I have so far:
Gladhanding – heinz (x3) (151), Clap(x3) (162), dubb(x3) (201) Orate – Barkeep (155), Purdue(x3) (161), Autumn (249) Mission – Poli (189), Jackal (192), Render (208), ntn (259), Danny (273) We definitely need some real work going into orating at this point. |

BK, I was thinking the same thing, particularly if nobody else has come forward as being a specialist in orating.

Just looked back, we need 8 of oratory. Assuming everyone else is a 1 (which may be incorrect, not sure), we're currently at 5 man hours.
I would recommend an overkill of 2 for each job as well (but that is just a cushion that we may/may not need). So that means we need to add 5 more man hours. I looks like gladhanding is okay although I would like to see 2 more hours added just in case one of the three hour people fakes, we would still make it. |

That makes sense to me, PurdueBrad, then send the rest at the mission. So, two more regular folks on gladhand, five more regular folks on oratory. That would leave two more for the mission, assuming no one else has a specialization in oratory or gladhanding.

Maybe I am mssing something but an overkill of 3 seems better since it seems most of the people touting abilities have a x3. That way if one of them is lying or gets their work sabatoughed ( if thats possible) then we wont fall 1 short. |

That makes sense Lathum. I'm not sure why two made sense to me, but I think you're right, three is better. Which would mean having no more people on the mission unless we get some more specialists out here.

Lathum, we only need 8 hours to "pass" the assignment so if we put 11 on (the three 3's and 2) even if one of the 3's fake, we make it. We only get screwed it a 3 and a 1 or 2 or another 3 fakes. |

I just re-read what I wrote originally and I see the mistake. Sorry, I meant an overkill of 2 WORKERS and 5 WORKERS vs. what is already there. My bad for not making that clear.

OK, it's really early for me. if we do 10 and one of the 3's fakes that's 10-3=7=us fucked if we do 11 and one of the 3's fakes that's 11-3=8=YAY! hence we need an overkil of 3, not 2. |

So, we want 11 man-hours on each is basically what we're all agreeing about, right?
I like this, as it will force hte Sympathizers to put several of themselves on each mission to sabotage it, which should make it harder for them and easier to catch them at it. |

Lathum, it's not too early, we're talking the same thing basically.
We have 3 people, committed to 3 hours each, equaling 9 hours. Our goal is to get to 11 hours (since 8 is all we really need). This means that, from my argument, we simply need to add 2 hours. You are saying that if 8 is our goal and 3 is the most anyone can work, we need to add 3 to cushion it and get us to 11. Same total I have as well. Help some? |
