I will note. The first match we played. First thing Foz says: "Defending!"
2 seconds after the kickoff, they score on us. Nice defense, Foz. |

So.....apparently Koei Tecmo put out a new version of Nobunaga's Ambition called Sphere of Influence on 9/1 for PS3/PS4/PC. This is a long shot, but anyone pick it up?

For fans of games like Princess Maker, Long Live the Queen, etc. here's an article discussing another entry in the genre that looks like it might be fun:

Man. I've never played a MGS game before this one. I spent the first 60 minutes of gameplay a nervous wreck (the prologue). Playing on PC with maxed graphics, this is the most beautiful game I've ever seen.

My brother and I are a few hours in on MetalGear 5. Despite some preposterous bosses (mostly just cutscene hype and running from them), the game looks amazing, the combat/stealth is fun... And we are now apparently building Big Boss' army. We can "recruit" any tranq'ed enemy and put their skills (they all have ratings) to use either in developing weapons, support, some other things- just getting started with it but a very cool aspect that I'm interested to see in action.

I'm only a few hours in, but I'm not sure how indepth the whole motherbase or personal army is, or if it's just like buying shoes for your NBA 2K MyPlayer avatar. But man, the game is fun. I've pretty much failed at every stealth mission I've tried and had to fire my way out, but I'm getting better.

Two missing campaigns from the script writer of Heroes IV are going to be bonus campaigns in VII. Ubisoft just gets things sometimes. For a larger company, they really do get it sometimes, you know?

Uplay stumbles into the room drunk, belligerently demands you register with it and enter your entire CD Key despite the fact that you just purchased the game on Steam and don't even own a CD, and then everyone around begs to differ. It is pretty cool that they are going to include those campaigns though.

I just should stop playing Rocket League now.
I scored with 1 second left to send the game to OT, then scored the winner at an obscene angle 15 seconds into overtime. I'll never top that. |

This horrible news is what I came over to post after my son shared the update with me. He's distraught -- TB is probably among the top 5-10 celebrities in the world as far as he's concerned -- and I'm more than a little bummed about this myself frankly. As you say, agreeing with TB isn't really the point, his ability & his influence are undeniable. Fuck cancer, just fucking fuck it

I picked up 80 Days on steam - so far, it's really really cool. It's a bit of an interactive novel, bit of a video game about yourself as a valet accompanying Phineas Fogg in his around the world journey (in 80 days) but instead of regular Victorian times it's a weird mechanized alternate history. Great writing (this is done by Inkle who did the Sorcery! apps on the Ipad if you've done those.)
Very replayable as you choose what cities you visit and what routes - I can imagine playing it through a dozen times and still having a lot to explore. You have to not run out of money, keep Mr. Fogg happy with you, and collect items to help you in your journey. 80 Days PC review | Rock, Paper, Shotgun |

Glad to hear a good review. Saw it a few days ago and stuck it on my wish list because I was intrigued. I have too many games on my plate right now, but I'll be keeping my eye on it.

I played 80 Days on iOS about a year ago and concur that it is a great game. As Peregrine noted there is replayablity. I played through it twice (won both times) and each time was a completely different route and experience. It is a fun little time waster.

You are an aristocrat that is dropped into a biodome of the British countryside and hunted by robots dressed as other aristocrats in
Sir, You are Hunted An FPS Sandbox that involves stealth (and running for your life.) Really fun HARD! The muliplayer is a blast . Can be PVP or not. Robots include hunters with guns, poachers that lay traps and that shoot you with a blunderbus, dogs that chase and trap you, scarecrows that stalk you and a giant balloon. Sir, You Are Being Hunted on Steam Got it in the last humble bundle for a buck. There are other places you can find it cheap I'm sure. |

Cross posted from the other thread:
So I have an admittedly really stupid question. I tend to only play games traditionally, not online and not multiplayer. Over the last few years I've just played games like Uncharted and Skyrim. For a game like Battlefront, which I see is only multiplayer, how does that work exactly? This question isn't specific to Battlefront, but just online-only games in general. Do you still progress through "levels?" I guess I am just not sure how a story progresses in a game when you have to play multiplayer with strangers online. Appreciate the patience for this dummy.

You progress through levels, but the story line isn't quite as structured as it is in a single-player game. It is more about accumulating experience and abilities than it is progressing towards a final showdown/resolution.
edit: this is a general reply about online games in general, not specifically Battlefront

I think it does have some kind of single-player mode, just not a traditional campaign. On the website, they have this blurb:

Played some Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes tonight with my roommates - it's an absolute blast. I can see it getting a little stale somewhat quickly, but we played for several hours tonight and still have plenty of difficulty levels to ratchet it up to.

I've got a few games on my docket. Trying (as Vince knows) to get some of my friends together to play Jackbox Party Pack vol 2 so I can review it. Picked up Guitar Hero Live today courtesy of some trade credit (mostly because the music game itch needed scratching and I'm not sure I'm willing to leave my Rock Band DLC on Xbox and start over on PS4). Got a review code for the new Overlord, so I need to start in on that, and I'm still playing the shit out of Disgaea 5 on PS4.
Oh, and Marvel Puzzle Quest came out for PS4 also, in more traditional Puzzle Quest form than the mobile/PC f2p business model. So I've been a busy gamer. |

Yeah just bot stuff not really any different from multiplayer from what I read. They basically have said no campaign or traditional single player. I am not even sure if I could just player with say my son or girlfriend only or as I assume we would need to join or create and online session with others. |

Watching co-optional podcast (well, the kid was watching & I'm here so ...), I didn't even realize Steam was making a controller these days.
And it was reassuring to me somehow to hear JesseCox talk about the difficulty in adjusting to different controller schemes. Apparently it ain't just old guys like me.
