I hope he does stay for another year or two (although I doubt it), and I don't see why he can't at least be the SF version of Jeff Garcia, except with the added benefit of all the new rule changes and coordinators who will maximize his elusiveness (and willingness to take a hit). |

Add to the fact that Purdue is winning. Purdue's QB is 7-9 with a TD. Irish got some secondary issues.

Really nice win for UW on the road against a Big 10 team. Got a little sloppy towards the end of the 3rd quarter. I would like to see us know when we have an opponent on the ropes and step on their throat, but I really like what I am seeing, excited for the season.

Let's see. Midway through the 2nd quarter and Central Michigan is winning 14-0, and Nick Sherry got benched 12 minutes in. Fast on the way to 0-3 and the end of that completely inept asstard Hauck's career in FBS. I can only laugh hysterically at how poorly this team is coached and prepared and eagerly await Hauck's sacking at season's end.

Nice. Early jitters for wisconsin as Asu plays very aggressive on first two drives. All that said the Badgers went up 7-3 despite a horrid first quarter.
Then Asu makes a crucial mistake that you just cannot make in big games.. bad snap on punt and Badgers score a TD as ball rols into endzone instead of their punter trying to make a play and get a safety instead. 14-3. I can relax... a tiny itsy bit only. Last edited by mauchow : 09-14-2013 at 11:29 PM. |

Badgers score on 80 yard run by Melvin Gordon on first play of half.. defense gets three and out and what happens... punt returner effs up and Asu recovers fumble..
But asu tries for homerun and picked off on next play. A td on this drive would be ginormous. Last edited by mauchow : 09-15-2013 at 12:35 AM. |

Well, THAT finish in Wisconsin-ASU is going to be controversial.

That being said, not sure what Stave was doing there. Run to the middle, then take a knee - don't set the ball on the ground without falling down first. Still a major fuck-up by the refs, but only because Wisconsin gave them the opportunity to get fucked over.

If there was ever a spot for an appeal this would be it. The refs were completely incompetent on that play.
Stave clearly kneed down.. he set the ball down for the ref and for 15 seconds the asu player laid on the ball and ref chatted with the players... 15 seconds ran off and ball game over. Wtf. |

If the ref is calling a turnover then the game clock stops at 9 seconds. The play is reviewed. Reversed and Badgers spike anyway and still get a 26 yd fg try. Last edited by mauchow : 09-15-2013 at 02:20 AM. |

On this screencap, Stave DOES take a knee before getting up a... on Twitpic
He knees. Sets ball down. Asu proceeds to lay on ball for ten seconds. Ref sets down and proceeds to tell badgers to wait and clock runs out. I'm flabbergasted. I need to give up sports forever. |

Still, the refs did blow the play dead and should have re-spot the ball with around 7 seconds left or called a delay on ASU. Pretty bad officiating. Last edited by Arles : 09-15-2013 at 02:53 AM. |

The back line judge seemed to know what was going on but never intervened to call the delay penalty. Again... just a mess. I'm still awake pissed. |

I'll be damned. UNLV comes back to beat CMU thanks to the the defense pitching a second half shutout and Caleb Herring's connecting with Devante Davs for 3 TDs.
The 21 point deficit comeback win ties the largest comeback in school history.

For all the belly aching about the ball spot, it was stupid to even try that with :18 seconds left anyway. If your kicker can't hit that kick from the hash mark, you don't deserve to win anyway.

Great news from Oregon State; Storm Woods was released from the hospital last night and flew home with the team. He took a really scary looking shot to the head and neck and didn't move at all for a long time before they strapped him to a board and took him out in an ambulance. So a major sigh of relief.

Well, Cris Carter has always been known for his insightful and intelligent commentary. But, he's a kicker, too. Doesn't that come with it's own brand of hazing about how much of a wuss and nerd he is? So next up is "four eyes"? Silly. SI

The refs were incompetent but if Stave doesn't do that odd kneel down that could have been construed as never having touched the ground, none of this happens. The field goal was no chip shot for the Badgers either.
Melvin Gordon is something else, but Joel Stave seems like one of those QBs that looks great against mediocre competition but pretty mediocre against anything of quality. |

By rule, it was a kneel down. He clearly was kneeling and that's all it takes. It's written that way to prevent a fake kneel, then stand and throw. Refs blew that one royally. Should have been a spike and field goal attempt. |

What does that have to do with the result of the awful finish? Homerism? Its clearly not. The Ex NFL Ref VP Mike Periera confirmed what I've said amongst many others. There were to rules that should have been implied but neither were. Delay of game or unfair time something.. I can't rcall the rule off the top of my head. Let's just say the guy on the forums who reffes his first d1 game yesterday better not have been the one who effed up. Last edited by mauchow : 09-15-2013 at 05:15 PM. |

At least you are not saying the refs should have been instantly fired and then taken out and executed as Troy would have.

I'd be down with that. I've got zero interest in/for either team, that's one of the worst calls I've ever seen in my life. Not sure any official involved should ever work on the field again.
