Damn, that was a crazy 30 seconds for FGC! Massive team chemistry.

Based on general experiences for various sports (including b'ball) rather than NCAA tournament hoops specific experience ... I'd say it's the 300's or hypothetical 200's if you want to see the game unfold. I'd be tempted by the floor risers (where I haven't sat since I was a kid, so I can't swear to anything) if I was more into the atmosphere & experience.

I'd avoid those angled corners for pretty much anything, I've never really enjoyed that particular view for any sporting event. Everything just looks odd to me, since that's not a camera angle you usually see.

FWIW.

FGCU showing that in-season win over Miami was no fluke. I doubt they get past Florida, but we'll at least get a chance to see.

Random thought for the day: 2 of Lipscomb's 12 wins in their 12-18 season were against Florida Gulf Coast.

Danger time for Illini - DJ Richardson picks up 2nd foul, goes to bench. Then Miami gets back-to-back threes off their pick-and-roll action. Need defense to man up for next 3 1/2 minutes, otherwise it is going to be double digit deficit heading into halftime.

I should enjoy it thoroughly. Sweet Sixteen games on Friday, back home Saturday for Easter with parents, then Sunday Astros-Rangers Opening Night. I'm excited

Yep. Like the announcers said, that rule needs to change to allow for that type of play to be reviewed during late game situations.

Yep, but at least refs can go replay every elbow throughout the game. So college basketball replay has that going for it.

I like how they fouled him but the refs weren't used to calling a foul in this game so they just let it go

Damn, Miami closed effectively ... couldn't turn them over, hit all their foul shots.

So many times I've gnashed my teeth watching this Illini team play. None of that tonight. Very happy with effort, glad seniors had effort they can be proud of to end their careers.

Whew. I'm not used to Miami being in the tournament, at least not as a major contender, so this was very nerve-wracking. So glad they pulled it out. That 3 by Larkin was epic.

I hate that there was a late call that went in their favor. I would've rather Illinois got the ball back and missed their shot, but what can you do?

Larry, your guys were really clutch down the stretch. Breaks tend to go to the team who earn them over 40 minutes.

Certainly can't speak for all Illini fans, but I don't think that decided the game. Miami getting huge 3 from Larkin (nice push-off too! saw it on replay, but not live) and then hitting every foul shot won that game. Not a bad whistle.

Florida Gulf Coast is really freaking good. They'll probably get beat by Florida but I wouldn't put anything past them either. I'm sort of baffled by them because they really have some serious athletes and even a little bit of size, it's certainly not just a little 15 seed getting lucky with three-pointers. It doesn't look like a fluke at all to me, but I have no idea how they lost five games in the Atlantic Sun. Look at some of the teams they lost to, I know anybody can have a bad night but I really don't get it. Maybe the Gators will help me figure it out.

But that is really one likeable team. Their kids seem extremely easy to root for beyond just being an underdog.

I think the thing that makes them different (in the tourney at least, like most I haven't seen them play prior to that) is that, unlike a lot of more talented teams, they aren't playing 'not to lose' - ie. dribble it up the court, work 15 seconds off the clock passing it around the perimeter, high screen, etc. etc. etc. every possession. The are playing a little more upbeat and maybe even 'reckless', and while I think that will end up hurting them in the next game, maybe it will show other Div 1 coaches that it's possible to win without over-coaching.

People who brag about their brackets baffle me. If you've been at this long enough, I would think you realize A) it's a crapshoot so B) the secretary always wins so C) there's nothing to gain from bragging unless you've actually won.

D) The Elite Eight is where competitive brackets go to die every year.

It is at least a little interesting assessing chances of winning heading into the Final Four, where there are just a few possible outcomes. To continue Lathum's poker analogy, being leader heading into S16 is like being money leader at time the bubble hits in poker tourney. Would take it, but not a ton of correlation in terms of winning the whole thing.
