apparently one of the Saints players (unidentified at this time) was caught yelling "Pay me my money!" as Favre was being helped off the field in that 2010 game.
Which is kinda funny, because if the NFL figures out who it was, I fully expect they'll be yelling the same thing at him (as in, hello fine city)

Oh sure. The Lions get crapped on all season for being dirty, get blown up in New Orleans with all sorts of personal foul calls on National TV, forcing me to listen to Cris farking Collinsworth preach about it, and the Saints were the dirty ones all along. Suck it, NFL.

Any idea of pre-draft trades that have gotten done so early? Can't remember any taking place before maybe the week preceding the draft. |

I can't either. Most seem to happen during the draft or on the day of. I suppose if Luck signs a deal early with the Colts that could start things off earlier than usual, but I think it's very rare for draft picks to start changing hands, even very early picks, so far before the draft. I mean, what happens if RGIII tears his knee up during his pro day or wrecks his shoulder or something?

Sad day as the Seahawks will cut Marcus Trufant. Kind of inevitable given some recent injuries/decline in play while 2 other corners emerged (Browner/Sherman) with a recent draft pick (Thurmond) looking to take a big step forward this year.
But still, sad to see a guy who was a valuable long time member of the team, and local boy, become a cap casualty.

Cleveland Browns GM Tom Heckert confirms trade talks with St. Louis Rams - ESPN
Talk of a Browns/Rams trade but doing the usual non-commitment. Not sure I would use the word "eager" when talking about wanting to see Weeden throw.

Jacobs could have been a hell of a back if he wasn't so damn soft. Watching him is like watching a pussy version of Christian Okoye.

Not surprising. He's supposed to be a big back that goes through the hole and runs over anyone in it. He used to be that way. The last few years, he's tried to bounce everything to the outside (sometimes it worked), and seems a bit gun shy when it comes to lowering his head and bulldozing people. A shame too. If he kept running the way he did a few years ago, he'd still be a very good back. |

sigh
not surprising but sad to see him go. He certainly wasn't worth the money he wanted. I hope he gets it somewhere else or decideds to resign for less with us. He was a big part of the best era in Giants football and I'll miss watching him run guys over ( even though he has done that a lot less in recent years). Also, I hope we don't go and spend any signifigant cap room signing a guy. It seems these days running backs are so easy to find in the draft. I would rather just draft a guy in the 4-6 round. |

Ugh, hate the Redskins.
If you are a Browns fan how frustrated are you right now. You have to think the Rams would have rather had 2 first round picks this year then spread them out. |

Well, Jerry Jones, that defensive is no longer a "should we" but a necessity.
Vick and RG3 twice a year? Get some god damn speed and a better pass rush. And Eli abusing the secondary. NFC East could be interesting. |

The Jets will announce they have signed Mark Sanchez to an additional three year/40.5 million extension (making it a total of 5/56) . THanks, Jets, from an AFC East rival..

Sanchez made like 15m last year.
Hes the most overpaid QB in the league IMO. Its easy to argue for guys who did less making a little bit less like Kolb, but come on. With INDY dumping their roster and the Skins making an all-in trade , the NFL really is becoming more and more like FOF.

3 years / 40.5 million for maybe the most overrated QB in the NFL?

It reminds me of the Donovan McNabb "vote of confidence" deal with the Skins that in reality enabled them to cut him for little to nothing. But then I looked at it and it guarantees Sanchez $20.5m. So I dunno. Maybe they know something we don't, but I can also see it as..."we don't really want to throw away that much money and have Manning spurn us and in the process, damage Sanchez's fragile confidence." So I guess we'll see what happens.

Need to see new money on that Sanchez deal. He was due 11.75m in salary/roster bonus this year. They could have easily reduced his cap hit by like 8-9 million dollars with this move.(cap out plus additional years to spread it out)
http://nyjetscap.com/salary.html His cap value was $14,253,125 Last edited by stevew : 03-10-2012 at 12:20 AM. |

Just browsing through active NFL QB's, Sanchez had a superior third year as a starter than Eli and Brees did. It's not his fault he has a blowhard coach who set expectations unrealistically high for him. He had a disappointing year but I'd also say he's probably the QB whose situation I envy the least all things considered.

if he wasnt playing in the ridiculous NY media market and had a team that wasnt overrated with blowhards he could develop into a solid starting QB in this league. it was obvious the second he got drafted that he was going to have a hard time and wasnt going to be in NY in 6 years time due to the circumstances around him

Redskins with the latest version of the Ricky Williams deal? Or is this worse because it is all First Rounders?

I'm not sure how to evaluate the Redskins deal. Yeah, they probably overpaid, but in this case they had a lot of legit competition for the player they wanted. How many superstars have they drafted in the first round the past 10 years, while only making the playoffs once or twice? Of course if this guy blows out a knee or becomes the second coming of Tim Couch they made a huge blunder, but if he's as good as they expect, he could be their best QB in over 30 years. I'm sure the PR / business aspect played into this decision as well. Fan discontent must be very high at the moment and this at least gives them more hope than another free agent spending spree would.

It would have been eerily similar if the Colts had paid Manning & drafted Luck, then St. Louis drafted RGIII & let him sit on the bench behind Bradford for the next 12 years, paying both starting salaries & not trading RGIII to me because he is idolized. |

I'm curious, what do people think would be a fair haul for RG3 if they think the Redskins "overpaid"? Trading picks and then just 1 extra first round pick? I would have been shocked if that's all the Rams got, with so many teams in need of a QB.

Yeah, this. When there's 2 players who are that clearly going to be pick #1 and #2, and there's no real incentive for the team picking #2 to trade unless they get a ridiculous deal in return, and there's a bunch of teams bidding against each other, I'm not really sure what people expected. I might have tried to hold out on the additional second this year, but three first rounders sounds about right to me. |
