NC State's heading for Spain. Will be good to see whether the hype is warranted. When scribes are saying that a 20-24 win season may be considered a disappointment, that's a pretty doggone big jump from the old middle-of-the-road, scraping-into-the-NCAAs expectations we used to have foisted on us.

It's kind of sad to see Syracuse leave the Big East a year early. I think my college basketball interest is going to go down a ton without them in the big east. It's just how I grew up, those teams, that tournament. And in college, there were so many fun weekend trips to big east road games, in a lot of cities where we all had friends in college.

Awful early, but the excitement can only grow after seeing that ESPN is picking Mizzou to win the SEC. Really unbelievable to see how the talent level has grown so quickly under Haith.

Excited to finally see the new Mizzou court. Picture is from Frank Haith's twitter account. New conference logos and the center logo has been changed to the tiger head logo.

That looks like a great opportunity for a family trip.

No way your wife turns down a trip to the Bahamas and you get to essentially see a "Round of 32"-like slate of basketball in one day.

Fuck off.

Spin it anyway you want.

Matt Roth spent 4 years at IU and graduated. He had his senior night last year, played a important role on the team, and was never promised a 5th year. Sure, I question about what happens with Matt Roth is news, but not the way you are spinning it.

Ron Patterson, while he is eligible to play in the NCAA this year, did not meet the academic standards needed for admission at IU. Coach Crean and most of the fanbase really wanted Buss to be apart of the team this year.

You sound like a jealous Purdue fan. I wonder how many IU fans post stuff on Wisconsin?

Patterson has been on campus for how long now? He got accepted into Indiana coming out of high school and now all of a sudden he doesn't qualify...just a few days away from when Indiana needed to get to 13 scholarships? Convenient.

"Patterson’s former AAU coach, Chris Hawkins, said the 6-3 guard had cleared all of the academic hurdles to enroll at Indiana, but did not meet all of the academic standards in summer school." He took summer classes AT Indiana.... how does this make any sense to say this is anything but Crean House Creaning?

Uthoff wants to transfer out - Bo Ryan plays within the rules and says you can't go here here and here and the media goes NUTS! Crean tells a guy he magically didn't meet academic standards (again..where he's ALREADY TAKING CLASSES!) three days before the program needs to get down to 13 scholarships and the media doesn't write one iota about it beyond local newspapers?

Patterson was the low man on the totem pole and Crean disgustingly 'cut' a guy who had been committed to Indiana since 2010 and was already taking classes. His try out obviously didn't go well.

I really hope Patterson finds a school to get into THIS year, one that has higher academic qualifications than Indiana so then this will further prove that Crean is indeed a grade-a sleazeball. (he was at Marquette, too)

Pretty simple. He came in with the understanding that he needed to post a 2.0 or better to qualify. He got a 1.8 GPA for 6 credit hours this summer. Hard to see him doing better with more classes in the fall and more time devoted to basketball. Also, the decision to deny him was made by a committee, not Tom Crean.

As for Roth, he has two degrees on IU's dime now. I don't see how he was deprived of anything.

That being said, I'm not crazy about Crean's use of the oversign in general.

And this is public? His grades?

When has grades ever been grounds for a kid to be cut entirely from the school? He would have an opportunity during the semester to get his grades back up and at worse Indiana would have had a great opportunity to give him a red shirt season.. but no he was cut. Plain and simple. The scholarship limit had to be at 13 by MONDAY. FOUR DAYS prior to that day Crean finds the out he was looking for so he wasn't in hot water.

I had a 1.0 my first semester; I didn't get kicked off my team nor did the university say "sorry, you no longer qualify at this university, good bye".

Crean will have to work to be as upstanding a coach as Bo. Just ask Jarrod Utoff.

I guess Bo is busy recruiting one of IU's recruits as well-Luke Fischer. Stay classy, Bo! And good luck trying to pry him away.

If that is the case there is nothing wrong with feelers especially since crean is oversigned for Luke's class. Nothing wrong with saying careful about where you're going. Luke plays with one commit for Wisconsin so I'm sure it comes up occasionally. I personally believe Fischer would have been a good get for us considering we are losing a lot of height after this season.

His aau coach said no contact has been made but if it came from Luke's mouth then there ya go..Bo is a sneaky devil(or not so sneaky).

I think if we took a good look at the rigors of the coursework that football and men's basketball players handle at top universities nationwide, we'd find something akin to doping in cycling.

I understand it's supposed to be an "objective" measure of programs, but it's still unbalanced in a few ways: all conferences and their championships are treated equally (hence Penn and Princeton get high marks because they've dominated the Ivy League for decades), the at-large bid helps out many programs who were good-but-not-great in the past 30 years when they wouldn't have made the field before at-larges were allowed in, and it's also using subjective choices based on which players became All-Americans.

Yes, all of this is a semi-roundabout way of saying while NC State is no longer a top 15 or 20 program nationally like they were before 1990, they're not #43 and certainly not worse than Weber State.

Without having looked past finding UNC's ranking in that stuff, I do understand that it's strange UCLA wouldn't be #1 and will happily cede the rank back to you if (pretty please?) or when the time comes.

Devin Booker (Devin Booker (DevinBook) on Twitter) just confirmed he'll be in Columbia on September 8th for the Georgia game on an official visit.

If that name looks familiar, he's the son of former Mizzou guard Melvin Booker. Would love to see that kid in a Mizzou uniform.

On the rankings. Iowa is better then 62. Not the past 5 or 6 years. But the last 50, I imagine we would be a little higher then 62.

And I hadnt heard that Bo was tampering again. Oh wait, Bo doesnt do that. He is the most stand up coach in America. He doesnt know what tampering is, because he doesnt do it. Just ask him. Or any wisky fan.
