Thinking about buying this today. Anybody kicking the tires on an online PS4 league?

It's been great so far, but I got the Ultimate Edition because of Ultimate Team sounded fun.

Go to open one of my 3 packs today and it says EA Servers Not Available.

I log back into Ultimate Team and I'm down to 1 pack. Fairly ticked about that.

Good, isn't it? Slows you down, let the blocks develop and then when you time the hole right and explode through it, really good things happen. I haven't had nearly as much time to play as I like, but I'm enjoying the hell out of this years game.

L2 you say. Interesting.

I'm in season 2 with the Vikings, lost every FA I had on my team (I just gave them what was initally suggested - they all signed elsewhere for a lot more), but got a couple of steals in the draft - an 80 OVR receiving tight end in the first round, and a 79 OVR speedy back in the 3rd. All my other selections were busts, although my 5th round WR has solid return ratings.

Because I suck with the run and Bridgewater has become an 88 OVR West Coast Offense machine, I traded Peterson for a young RG to fix my depleted line and my speedy rookie HB has been causing havoc on the screen pass... I run about 7-8 times a game only in general, plus on some goalline/3rd-and-shorts. Maybe L2 is what I need to beef up the run game, but having a lot of success with treating drag routes as my running game.

Yeah - I can bust some nice double-digit runs with L2.

I think I will start a franchise where I actually play the whole game today when I get off work. Pretty excited to give it a go. Either that or I will hone my skills as a MLB in a superstar mode career first. I need to get the feel for playing D in this new madden.. The controls are quite a bit different than they were back on the original XBox.

Post your PS4 usernames. We could start a league and go at the pace of the slowest player. I have a couple of CFMs started, so I would not be in a rush to push the pace.

I've yet to have a freeze on the PS4. Worst I've had is sometimes the highlights will stutter during the halftime show.

I'm down for a league as I posted before. Think I already have you as a friend. I'd want to do something quick though, maybe a player CFM? I work weird hours so it would be hard to match up to play a whole game with someone.

With those sliders someone posted a few days ago, I've been throwing a ton of interceptions. I think 23 in 11 games. Part of me wants to say it's my fault, but some just seem like the guys are jumping out irregularly against the ball

AussieGroundhog is mine.

I can't say for certain (and haven't been checking OS or any other forums), but the tuner pack that I downloaded a little while ago seems to have made some subtle yet solid changes. I've had AI QB accuracy down at 15 for a while now but until the tuner pack I still wasn't seeing many bad throws hit the ground, and I'm also now seeing the QBs get rid of the ball before taking the sack - ie. those dropped-forward passes that hit the turf in front of the QB.

Enjoying it a lot more since it's actually possible to keep opposing QBs below 80% throwing accuracy.

Also, that L2 button has improved my running game 30000%. Sorta wish I hadn't traded AP now.........

We can start a league. It's pretty easy, after you play your game you just hit "Ready to Advance" and once everyone has done that, the game moves forward.

We could also set like a 5 day limit for a game week, in case someone is holding everyone up

I might try an online game first to see what the lag is like from down here in Au. I don't think I've played Madden against a human for about 5-6 years now, so I expect I'll be horrible.

We should start a thread in the "FOFC Multiplayer" area, so we don't clutter this thread up with scheduling/administrative stuff.

By the way, did you guys create your own owners, or did you just choose the default owner for each of your teams?

Yesterday in my offline franchise, my Bengals headed into Indianapolis at 4-1 against the 4-1-1 Colts. I had just dismantled the Patriots 19-0 (!) and the Panthers something like 27-10. I thought maybe I was getting so good at the game that it was time for some slider tweaks.

As it turns out, I'm still terrible. I wasn't trusting my pass reads, and threw an early pick for a touchdown. Then, I got the ball back and Gio Bernard ran for a 73 yard touchdown... by far the longest run I've had in the game to this point (previous high was maybe 20 yards).

After that, I took Luck down and he went out with injury. I'm thinking with Hasselbeck in, this game is in the bag. What ACTUALLY happened was that he went something like 16-19 for 155 yards, and just ate me up with short passing, while Ahmad Bradshaw had 20 carries for 95 yards.

Meanwhile, whereas my passing in the other recent games had been very good... in this one I went something like 13-30 for 200 yards and 3 picks. I even was able to throw a play action bomb from my own 3 to AJ Green out to the Colts 40 and still didn't score on that drive.

I've never had so much fun getting my ass handed to me by the AI... I think it had a lot to do with the fact that I thought I had it all figured out. Nope.

I just had an EPIC SP game.

Fantasy-drafted team. 20-17 victory over a Tom Brady led Colts team. Tied 17-17 in the 4th quarter I stopped their attempt at a game-winning drive with like 2:05 left and took the ball at my own 21. Drove down the field and kicked the winning FG with 2 seconds left on the clock.

Brady finished 10/18 for 170yds and 1 TD whereas my QB (drafted 2nd year guy Chris Ray who's now like a 94 overall finished 21/34 for 284 yds, 2 TDs and one (bad) INT.

Jamal Charles had 29 carries for 121yds and Megatron chipped in 8 grabs for 141yds, with my undrafted rookie FA pickup chipping in 7 for 70yds after being called into action due to an injury.

I tossed a long bomb down the middle against the cover 2 that was intercepted. Phil Simms explained how dumb of a decision it was, since you have to know where to attack the cover 2. Deep and down the middle.

I do enjoy this game. I think EA has really done a fine job on the field with Madden on the new platforms.

What is the final verdict. The Microsoft store has it on sale for 40 dollars. Is it worth it?

I'd say yes, absolutely. The biggest issue for me is probably the AI QBs - they tend to either check down too quick or hold on too long - so they'll end up with high completion %s for the most part, even if they don't drop a ton of points on you.

Outside of that, it's not perfect no, but IMO it's as close as Madden's ever been to a football simulation.
