Maybe we could trade for Hue Jackson?

I'd probably promote Munchak cause I doubt he can do worse than Tomlin.

Tomlin is a good coach. A lot of other teams would love to have him.

Based on the tone of several players on the Patriots, I'm pretty sure they're trolling everyone and that Brady really wouldn't miss a conference championship game for a finger cut, but, there always has to be some drama.......

Today the word is that it was just a cut, no ligament damage, and he was throwing the ball fine, but of course that's from reporters at a distance because the Patriots sure as hell won't give a straight answer.

My gut is telling me that this is going to be a very close game that will come down to Bortles protecting the ball, getting some early play-action completions and completing the third and short throws that he is capable of making (and perhaps scrambling for a few first downs as well).

I think the Jags have the linebackers/safeties to cover the Pats runningbacks and tight ends (with Ramsey pitching in to help on Gronk at times).

My prediction... Bortles surprises everyone with a competent performance, Jacksonville wins the turnover battle and Jags get the upset, 23-20 (that or my idiocy is confirmed for putting any faith in Bortles against Belichek).

That was a monumental delay of game if New England can claim some momentum here.

Bets on whether Gronk gets cleared? Even whether he enters the protocol?

Church should be suspended for the Super Bowl if they get there. That’s about as blatant a head shot as it gets.

Nothing good can be said about the Patriots. Nothing. If the ground swallowed the entire team it would be too good for them.

Yes I am surprised that Gronk is in the protocol.

No, I still don't trust the NFL when it comes to the protocol.

Yes, it is irrational.

Well if the Jags play like they did for the first two quarters minus the last three minutes or so, they might have a chance for the upset. If they play like they did for the last three minutes or so before the half, they have no chance for the upset.

Anyone know off hand the odds you would have got on the Jags in the Superbowl before the season? How about Jags - Vikings?

I'd assume the best TV narrative is Pats-Vikes, followed closely by Eagles-Pats.

I was contemplating those match-ups a minute ago, and I'm sad to say I'd almost rather see the former.

(I want the Patriots to NOT win that much.)

I'd agree with that. Anything with the Jags won't match up the same as the Pats in pure TV power. The bottom would be Jags-Eagles.

Massive play. That's going to be nearly impossible to overturn, no matter which way they would have called it initially.

Not for making the Super Bowl, but for winning it...

Patriots 13/4
Vikings 28/1
Eagles 40/1
Jaguars 66/1

Technically that looks like he’s down by contact as the ball is still under the arm when he touches the ground. Then as he rolls it goes to Jack.

I was initially thinking the same thing. That could have been an incredibly costly delay of game. If that completion late in the half holds us, Jacksonville can probably run out the clock and kick a field goal.

The ironic(?) part about that is that while the Patriots scored on that drive, the Gronk injury also came on that drive. I'm guessing the Pats would rather have been down 17-3 with a healthy Gronk rather than the 14-10 that they were without Gronk.

If the Pats come back and beat the Jags the Jags will look back at the conservative play calling in the 2nd half for why.

I dunno - there’s been a flea flicker and a decent number of downfield throws. Any sensible Jacksonville game plan had to involve Fournette running th ball a ton and they were doing that in the first half too.

Seems like the big difference has been Bortles being Bortles and missing the big throws rather than the insane hot streak he got in in the middle of the game.

They’ve pointed out on our coverage regardless of fumble/no fumble, Jack shouldn’t have been blown dead as he was untouched once he gained possession. He would have had an open runback for the TD

I'm not sure that's right, as the act of the tackle is considered a touch. Leave it up to one of our rules gurus though.

Nantz is full on fan boy mode right now, arguing for the Amendola catch.

Yeah, I saw that. While arguably you could call holding on every play, that one was about as blatant as it gets and should have been called.
