No offense, but I don't like this idea at all. The district would fall to Pass, and while, at the moment, I'm trusting Pass I haven't forgotten the gaffe from yesterday. No offense Pass, I'd imagine that no one here is being so short-sighted as to think there are no wolves in our party. |

That seems really overpowered to me; it's essentially going to be giving us double clears from here on. That seems really weak, but with that "non-wolf" part it makes it really strong and I bet it doesn't fly. |

KWhit just broke the party line on the lynch vote. I don't know if that's a tactic or a legitimate difference of opinion but it gives us an opportunity.

I changed, too -- I think KWhit is cooler to get out than henry, who we have slurried. Just a random thought.

If henry gets lynched and we get his seat, the Dems may be in a very tight spot - they may be enough on the ropes to negotiate with the wolves.
We may have to throw them a bone at some point. |

I dunno if Lathum and KWhit planned this as a sort of bob-and-weave or what. Sorry, clap. I think we're still cool -- if clap is a wolf, great. If not, then they're going to lose popularity for voting out someone who was good. Especially KWhit, for changing his vote late.

I'll be honest, I have no idea how we're going to find any wolves in this game via means other than seer/witness.

It's going to be complicated, because everything is covered with a layer of partisanship, so we can't tell what the other side is trying to accomplish. And half of what they're doing is hidden behind the wall of the thread. And the same is true for us, to a lesser extent. At some point soon (maybe even tomorrow) both sides are going to have to open up. |

Agreed. Basic wolf strategy in this game will be to try to fan the flames of partisanship. Maybe that should be our starting point.

Yeah. Only reason I encouraged what we did today was because we had absolutely nothing else. After tomorrow, I don't care anymore, I'll start voting for people in this house. And I really didn't mind clap getting lynched too much.

Nor I and it was an interesting move. My only fear there is that it might take the gloves off a bit more between the parties and distract us from the wolves. Actually, since I feel like we've been pretty open over here, I'm wondering if someone from his own party whacked him out of office.
Who played in the Chess game with me? I'm trying to remember how we avoided getting caught up in black vs. white in that game and still got the wolves because this seems like a slightly similar dynamic. |

Also, we have a 10-8 district advantage, the presidency, and the Dems have three that cannot vote, making it a 10-5 voting advantage...wow!

I won a couple of tickets to see Buffett tomorrow on the south side of Chicago so I'll be out from about 10 am until the next morning. I'm leaving conditionals with CR to vote for a Republican bill, for a presidential bill (so please don't go too middle of the road), and against the Dem bill.
I'll also put in a lynch vote. It looks like the tie-breaker may be first vote. Who are we considering for tomorrow? |

Well, we get to elect a new speaker -- someone right center again, probably.
For lynch tomorrow...the KWhit and Lathum mess from yesterday seems like a good place to start. KWhit I think is our logical starting place. |

I signed all 3 into power. The cunning clause as much as it sucks doesn't really kill the bodyguard role, just take away an added bonus of it. We still have the seer/seer comunicator.

Awesome work tonight guys! As the game's going I'm getting a better idea of how it works, sorry I've been laying low, I was just kind of overwhelmed at first.
The last minute changes tonight to cause a tie were a red flag to me. They could have really all been just for saving party members, but it's at least worth looking at. |

Do you guys want a new Liaison?
Reasons for changing to someone else: 1. Since Lathum is out, maybe new blood on both sides would be good. 2. I'm only working a half day today, leaving at 1 EST, and my sister-in-law is borrowing our computer, so I won't be on at all in the evening. Reasons for sticking with me: 1. Laziness -- no one wants to bother choosing someone else 2. Laziness -- no one else wants to be the liaison |

I mean what I said in my last post in the public thread -- a lot of the reason I voted KWhit was that I was afraid that if we lynched henry and he was good, we would all take a popularity hit. Also, even though I want to get rid of him so that heinz can take over his spot more permanently, henry seems good based on how yesterday went down. No one defended him, or voted to save him, but maybe they thought we would all vote henry as a block, anyway?

The Most Popular Politicians Among Party Members
1. illinifan999 2. Mrs. Schmidty 3. Passacaglia 4. Render 5. jeheinz72 6. Tyrith 7. PurdueBrad There is evidence that both jeheinz and illinifan999 were targeted in the media. Polling is still pretty much where it was at from the Congressional elections. Don't forget: you can pick a new Leader and Liaison today if you want, or leave the current ones in power.

As for Leader, I'm fine with keeping Tyrith in the spot, but if there's someone else that wants to do it, I'd probably support pretty much anyone else, just so that more people get a chance.

I think chesapeake makes a good point in his post 977 -- with the exception of henry. Even if he's a villager, the political gain is just so great for us that we should really get rid of him. Lathum and Chubby can stay for all I care, but getting henry out gives us a HUGE advantage.

I really don't like the idea of Lathum returning. Of course, Henry would trump that, but boy does Lathum scream wolf to me.
Chubby we can let back, he didn't seem all that wolfish so far. |

OK, so do I have this right, that Cronin is gone-gone, right? So we're down a wolf vote? But Mrs. S gets his vote for bills and Speaker stuff.
Clap, Henry, Chubby and Lathum are those who lost their seat and can't vote on bills. Pass, Myself, PF and KWhit control the 2 districts Do I have that correct? |

My thoughts on bills
For "our" bill: What about the Examiner bill? Seems like it's in our scope and since we won't get PM communication this may be a good way to learn what the Seer knows. Or is it pointless because it's assumed any Seer would just give us that info upon reveal? Could be a safeguard to get COT members though should the Wolves get the Seer at random Now we get a 2nd bill right for illini being Pres? At least I think that's the case. Here's a random one What about a general "Un-Duke". Basically a 1-time rule that should we as Congressmen censure a non-Wolf that vote is basically ignored. |

I'm still trying to figure out what Lathum was up to. My thinking is that it was more partisan than wolfish -- he told me it wasn't a set up, but I still think he wanted to get someone else to vote for KWhit instead of henry. I think it was a really bad decision, because it hurt them politically.
Part of me thinks that a few votes for KWhit again might be a good idea. If they go whole hog to defend him and put all their votes on the same Republican, they're the ones rolling the dice on whether or not that person is a wolf. But, the more wimpy part of me thinks that since there are more Democrats around, they might as well 'drive' for this vote. I'm thinking that heinz is going to be key to us for a while. We beat them to the punch on taking the middle, and if we lose him, we might lose his AND henry's seat to a Democrat. If the wolves want to balance things out (or if the Democrats can do something to us), they're going to look at heinz. This makes him a good candidate for the bodyguard, and if we're going to protect him, it makes sense for the seer to scan him, too. I'm not trying to deflect any attention away from me -- if you think I'm a good seer scan, that's fine -- but my two votes don't apply to wolf votes, and I don't think I'd have voted different than clap on bills and such, since our districts were similar. So I don't think there's anything to fear there (even for jeheinz having two votes -- my nomination of him for being scanned is for different reasons) |
