That is the catalyst that opens it up to further scrutiny...

It's like a wicked fight that starts out as a simple discussion over say doing the dishes...

I disagree. It was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I am still sticking to my story: no tit, no controversy, outside the conservative fringe.

I even read that Pepsi is going to withdraw all of its ads from next year's Super Bowl unless they get assurances that this type of thing wont happen again. Pepsi? Didn't they air that ridiculous Britney Spears ad a few years ago. The one where she was covorting around so much and was so scantily clad that she got Bob Dole's dog worked up? And now they're pulling out the moral highground. Why? Because we saw tit.

What about the scantily clad cat-fighting chicks in the beer commercial a few years back? That just got the faintest amount of buzz and mainly from women's groups. Where was the outrage then? Where was the "women as objects" out cry? Silent. Why? Because we didn't see a tit.

The line is clear. The line is simple. American cannot handle breasts. That's what is sad. It's sadder than the trashy, classless, ridiculous halftime show that culiminate in the baring of said breasts.

There's hundreds of things shown on TV a day that are a far, far more damaging than a naked tit. But people aren't all that concerned about them. Sad.

Ahhhh....I get it now. Belgian culture is better than American culture???

(Note: I'm not saying either is "better" or "worse", but it is ludicrous to claim that it is "sad" that our culture is one way.)

SD, I'm American. I just happen to live in Belgium for the time being. Trust me, after living here for 2 years I'd never imply Belgian culture is better than, well, just about any culture. When I say I find an aspect of American culture "sad", I am commenting on my culture. Our culture.

'N Sync Singer Removed From Pro Bowl Halftime Show

http://sports.myway.com/news/02042004/v7094.html HONOLULU (AP) - The NFL is changing the Pro Bowl's halftime show because of Janet Jackson's breast-baring at the Super Bowl.

Singer JC Chasez was dumped from the program for the all-star game Sunday after fellow 'N Sync member Justin Timberlake's stunt with Jackson at the championship game.

The new Pro Bowl halftime plan includes hula dancers, drummers, conch shell blowers and local singers.

"The commissioner said Monday morning that we will change our policies and procedures as it relates to entertainment during our games," league spokesman Brian McCarthy said. "This is immediate action that reflects that approach."

...

Chasez issued a statement Wednesday through Gina Orr, publicist for 'N Sync's label, Jive Records in Los Angeles.

"No one could be more disappointed than I that the NFL has canceled my halftime performance at the Pro Bowl this coming Sunday," Chasez said. "I've told the NFL I understand the pressure that they are under since the Super Bowl."

Orr said she couldn't immediately say whether Chasez would still perform the national anthem at the Pro Bowl as planned.

The new halftime show - with 200 hula dancers, 1,000 other dancers, drummers and a new song called "Welcome to my Paradise" - originally was supposed to be pregame entertainment.

No, I was pretty disgusted when I heard Nelly singing about shooting his cum all over. It isn't about a tit, it's about a culture that's becoming more and more disgusting by the day. Im far from conservitive, but theres a slippery slope we're slideing down as a nation.

If the Grammys were really interested in preserving the culture, and if CBS wanted to show its contrition, I say ban all the rappers and dancers in G-strings, ban all the lip synching to suggestive and violence-inspiring lyrics, and ban all the so-called stars who have spent years in prison and are now celebrated as heroes of the culture.

Better words have never been spoken, imo.

Janet, Justin Sued over Boobgate

by Sarah Hall
Feb 5, 2004, 11:00 PM PT

Who knew that a slip of the nipple could cause serious injury to millions?

After catching a glimpse of Janet Jackson's mammary during the Super Bowl halftime show, a Tennessee woman filed a proposed class action lawsuit Wednesday, naming Jackson, Justin Timberlake, MTV, CBS and Viacom as defendants.

Terri Carlin filed her suit "on behalf of all Americans who watched the Super Bowl," blaming Jackson and Timberlake for causing her and millions of other unsuspecting viewers "to suffer outrage, anger, embarrassment and serious injury."

(The full legal documents can be found online at The Smoking Gun.)

The suit does not specify exactly what kind of injury was incurred; however damages sought could add up to billions. Though no figure is given in the suit, Carlin indicates that punitive damages should not exceed the combined gross revenues of all defendants over the last three years.

Apologies from Jackson apparently did nothing to soothe Carlin's wounded morality, nor did denials from the networks and Timberlake of any prior knowledge of the stunt that resulted in the infamous wardrobe malfunction.

"Families have an expectation that they can trust companies and individuals such as the defendants not to expose families to sexually explicit conduct during broadcasts of prime time events such as the Super Bowl," Carlin's suit snipes.

Carlin further accuses the networks of not having a "sufficient broadcast delay" in place to prevent unexpected mishaps like Boobgate 2004.

It seems the networks agree with her to some extent--a gun shy CBS has announced plans to air the Grammys on an unprecedented five-minute delay Sunday, presumably to protect viewers from the hijinks of wacky entertainers.

ABC may follow suit by running the Feb. 29 broadcast of the Academy Awards on its first-ever delay, albeit a mere five seconds. And NBC decided to edit out a glimpse of an elderly woman's breast from Thursday's episode of ER.

In other Jackson-flash fallout, Michael's sis will no longer be attending the 2004 Grammys, her rep Stephen Huvane confirmed to E!

Jackson was originally scheduled to present an award to Luther Vandross, but after the ailing crooner confirmed his no-show status, she was told her services were no longer needed, according to Grammy production sources.

Timberlake, who claimed to be "shocked and appalled" by the breast-baring bodice rip, is still slated to perform at the Grammys.

Meanwhile, Timberlake's bandmate, JC Chasez found himself at the receiving end of nipplevision backlash--the NFL nixed him as halftime entertainment for the Pro Bowl, fearing that his act was too racy.

Furious at being replaced by a Hawaiian-themed extravaganza, the 'N Syncer fumed that league leadership has "clearly become so disoriented it has reduced itself to bashing me and my music to divert attention from the fact that the NFL screwed up at the Super Bowl."

I love FOX NEWS....as full of crap as thier "conservative" radio counterparts.

After a segment on Janet Jackson and making comments about her, they have a lingerie show........i believe you could see part of the third models nipple and they cut away pretty fast. One of the FOX guys then said "I think the FCC wants you to put your top back on."

I want my lawyer, i am damaged for life now.

The fact that the person suing is named Carlin is a little on the ironic side, no?

P.S. You can now view that Labatt beer ad online:
