Wait, The Middle got kept?!?!

What a freaking horrible show. I watched it by accident last night when Jeopardy finished and I was doing some stuff on the computer so the TV was on in the background.

I never cared for Community (I never got into it) but man oh man is it miles above that terribleness.

It's not as good as it was but "The Middle" is a great FAMILY show. Something there is way too little of on TV.

Yeah - we thoroughly like The Middle. Last night wasn't the best episode, but it's consistently solid in our book.

Family shows still exist but now they're on Disney or ABC Family.

The middle is a solid single of a show that sometimes stretches out to a double for me. Almost never a triple and certainly never a homerun but I like almost all the actors, Patricia Heaton is by far my least favorite actor/character on the show, and the material is fine.

Huh. I don't think my parents would have let me watch The Middle when I was a kid. They didn't let us watch a lot of those shows, like Family Matters or Full House. I guess I'm weird.

We have neighbors who wouldn't let their kids watch Spongebob but would let them play Call of Duty.

Heaton gets a ton of hate for her [non-liberal] politics. Agreed though that she's one of the weaker parts of the show.

Dude who plays Hannibal is so freaking good. Not sure whether we're supposed to read much into Lawrence Fishburne being on a new series next fall or not.

Such a great episode last night. We'll finally see the conclusion of the Fishburne/Hannibal kitchen fight next week. I'm guessing it doesn't end well for Fishburne.

However, really, it felt like they're trying to do good PR and make us feel better about a bunch of the creepy cyber spying our government is doing.

I was thinking pretty hard about it and I'm nearly positive I've never watched anything on CW, at least on the primetime end. I gather they aren't making Homeboys in Outerspace type stuff anymore?

A lot of their stuff is geared to older teens and 20 somethings. Pretty people, teen/20 something dramas type stuff. But I feel Arrow is well worth watching. You just sometimes have to learn the ability to filter out the teen drama parts...

Yeah the CW has actually had some interesting SF shows of late-The remake of the Tomorrow People (sadly cancelled), Star-Crossed (not so sadly cancelled), and The 100. But they then mix them in with teenage drama and situations, and I quickly lose interest in them. Arrow doesn't have a lot of those teen drama parts thankfully so makes it the best show on their network for me. And we get a spinoff next season with The Flash!

Arrow is fantastic, though I've only seen season one on Netflix.

The actress that plays Laurel is a little weak (make another facial expression!), but otherwise it's great.

Can't wait for The Flash!

I like Hannibal, but I just have this feeling that there will be an episode at some point that just makes me want to give up on the show and I'll never watch it again. The finale was damn close to that episode.

I am confident that everything we saw in the finale actually happened. I am confident that I am not smart enough to piece together on my own explanations for much of it that make sense to me.

After reading a couple reviews of the finale and an interview with the creator of the show I get most of it. Some of the explanations lead me to infer that the 3rd season won't be done this way. That the second half of season two was meant to be abstract and super artsy even by Hannibal standards to give the viewer the feeling of confusion and uncertainty and possibly terror that Will feels in trying to outplay Hannibal. I am not smart enough to figure that out on my own so I was just confused.

I'm ok with that for now, but I'll have my limit with that too and will admit defeat at some point if that's how season 3 is going to roll as well.

If you missed Spartacus when it was on Starz network, good news, SyFy has acquired basic cable rights and will start showing episodes beginning June 26 at 10 pm ET, following the second season of Defiance and the first season of much buzzed angels and demons show Dominion

Once they excise all the stuff for basic cable, how many minutes will be left to put on the air?

It was - I meant to post that last night. Funny, redemptive, tied up a lot of the loose ends (did HBO announce a renewal yet? i thought they did) etc. Loved it.

Arrow is fantastic. While it is a CW show it has not suffered from too much teenage drama crap and the writers really do a great job keeping that comic book feeling.

I'm curious where season two goes for Arrow due to how it ended. Hopefully more gets added soon to Netflix, who seems to be willing to add great shows but only add the first season.

The word: Time Warner eyeing a piece of Vice | Media Life Magazine

The gist of the story is that TW is looking to acquire Vice (the company that sent Rodman to North Korea, among other things) for about $1B and as part of that deal HLN would be rebranded as a Vice network.

Did anyone check out the History Channel mini-series the The World Wars? I really like the first episode and a half but after that it seemed they were like oh shit and rushed through the rest of the show. No mention of Montgomery or Rommel amongst other things. Just felt very rushed.

Just a late heads up that the second season of Defiance starts tonight on SyFY followed by a new show Dominion, which needs to be better than Helix after both were promoted for over a year and a half in advance. Never finished watching Helix, so I hope Dominion is better.

I guess it wasn't talked about on here, but the guy running FOX got fired a month or so ago. I really wonder what this means for the future of their programming. I'm hoping that low rated but well received shows like Brooklyn Nine Nine and New Girl aren't quickly discarded. The pretty shocking renewal of The Mindy Project makes a lot more sense now, as that guy was a really big fan of the show. Seems more and more like the type of move you'd do when you know you're on the way out.

Edit-
Also I caught up with that show Enlisted that Fox briefly showed around the midseason and I can't believe they didn't fight to try to get it a larger audience. It was a pretty funny show.

I enjoy Brooklyn Nine Nine and New Girl as well. Enlisted and Almost Human should never have been cancelled. It almost makes me want to stop watching shows on Fox because they usually just last the one season, at least the ones I like.

Not sure how I feel about the 2nd season of OITNB. I kind of wished it wasn't so much, "Hey, did you know that women in prison are lesbians?" They eventually toned down the graphic nature in season one and focused on stories. This time, not so much. Of course, there's time for that to change as I'm about midway through, but I don't have my hopes up.
