Jay Ajayi could end up one of the biggest steals of the draft IMO. And if he doesn't pan out, Miami only spent a 5th rounder on him.

Don't forget Big G is the son of Jesse Tuggle and nephew of Ray Lewis. Something tells me need get his clothes replaced either way.

What hurts is that was his "trophy" room. He lost 3 game balls, several team awards and any memorabilia he had, that's what he will miss.

Agreed with this. They got 3 really good prospects at 3 positions that they needed. Can't really ask for more than that. Hopefully they pan out. If so, the Giants should be much better this year.

Disagree. Arm strength isn't the issue. He can make all the throws. It's the speed of decision making he needs to work on.

Yeah, TurnItIn is what a lot of campuses use to check for plagiarism for those instructors who use online submissions. I've caught a couple students over the years because of it.

Zach Stacy for a 7th round pick seems like a reasonable gamble for the Jets

I think that's a great deal for the Jets. I still don't understand the Rams thinking in taking a RB with an ACL injury 10th?

If you are St. Louis, what reason do you have to make that trade now? Why not wait for training camps to start and guys to start going down? Was his value going to end up going below a 7th round pick between now and August?

Seems like they could have held on to him and traded him to a more desperate team for, like a 5th rounder.

Or maybe I'm over-rating Zac Stacy.

Probably too hard to start from scratch at the beginning of February.

Does seem odd to ditch Stacy before you know whether or not Gurley is going to be ready for training camp.

Jacksonville getting FSU WR Rashad Greene in the 5th round was a steal, IMO

The Lions drafting a fullback in the 5th round was not a steal, IMO

With Tre Mason and Cunningham I guess they didn't feel like hearing him moan during training camp.

He's from Rutgers, it was definitely a steal.

La'el Collins meeting with Bills coach Rex Ryan - NFL.com

Rex Ryan works pretty fast.

I wouldn't mind the Colts trying to grab Collins to shore up the right tackle position.

It just seems like typical cop behavior to tell a dude that he's not a suspect even though he's probably the most likely suspect given circumstances.

Anyways even if innocent, which seems probable, the whole situation is poor and another Roger debacle. Kid was slated to get something like a 4-8M signing bonus for going in the first. Now he gets league minimum for 2 years plus (maybe) his unborn kid was murdered AND competitive balance wise someone is getting a free first round pick for nothing. I'd imagine he's also in the hole several hundred grand to his agent based on probable line of pre-draft credit. If he tears a knee his future is screwed.

Plus there's gotta be an implicit promise that he'll be fairly compensated in 2 years which I'd assume violates the cap.

All Roger has done is make up rules on the fly, it should continue

The alternative would have been to allow him to enter the supplemental draft. Which might have been the best case for him, but it would have opened up a huge can of worms. The owners (and the fans) love the draft as a way to distribute incoming talent. Roger is protecting the owners's interest by not starting to chip away at the draft as the one and only way that high-level talent enters the league. If Collins gets this exception this year, how many guys petition for it next year?

The only thing that seems strange to me is that, out of 32 teams, none of them decided to take a 7th round flyer on him and figure that they would have the whole offseason to try and convince him to sign. I wonder if Collins is much closer to being a suspect than we realize and NFL security let that be leaked to the teams.

So, there's nothing really keeping an NFL team from ringing up La'el Collins and offering him, say, the contract they'd have in mind for a 3rd round draft pick (complete with signing bonus, etc), right? Given the unusual situation, I'm a little surprised that someone like the Saints haven't given this some thought.

According to the obsessives on the Saints's boards, teams are limited in their UDFA budget. I don't have a cite to the CBA or anything, but the common thinking is that every team can pretty much offer him the "max" UDFA contract, which is not much different than the "min" UDFA contract.

I think there's two pieces to it: you have his agent saying he's not signing if he's not a 3rd round pick, so what are the chances he actually does eventually sign at a 7th round salary? And...if you draft him, your team is connected to him throughout this entire process.

The max signing bonus teams can offer to all of their UDFAs combined is something like $75K. So no, they couldn't do what Quik is suggesting.

The max for all UDFA for one team is 80k... I only know this because I was reading an article that the Cowboys have guaranteed George Farmer from USC 55k which is highly unusual. Usually, the guaranteed deals are about 4-8k.

For the last week, the Saints Message boards have been talking about how this poor guy got reamed by the system and he's misunderstood and he just needs a chance and he should stay close to home and play guard for the Saints.

It will be fun to go there now and see everyone convinced that he killed his girlfriend and is a horrible person.

There was quite an uproar on some Lions' sites about the Lions not being aggressive enough in getting him.

Hopefully, their anger will be assuaged by the not one, but TWO, articles pumping the tires of UDFA running back Zach Zenner out of South Dakota State.

Diamond in the rough! He had the 7th highest pSPARQ out of 160 out of 160 draft eligible running backs this year. OMG! AMAZING!
