I'm guessing Beard gets the first call, but he's going to be tough to pull from Texas Tech at this point. Nate Oats and Musselman would be great hires. |

I can’t understand Texas athletics. I would’ve bet good money that Shaka Smart and Charlie Strong would’ve been big winners there. They seem to make good, pragmatic hires (I’m not crazy about the Sark move, but can’t blame them for ditching Herman), but not enough results.

Watching the UConn vs Iowa game and it's been a very entertaining game. Clark has been excellent after a shaky start. Bueckers has been solid after a shaky start as well. UConn definitely looks like the better overall team. Iowa reminds me of their men's team...they can score, but can they string together enough stops to pull out the win. |

This is some of the worst offensive basketball I've ever seen.

Read an article about Smart moving on to Marquette that makes sense to me. Even though Smart has had decent success at Texas, going to the Big Dance3 out of his 6 seasons, winning the NIT, having a winning season 5 out of 6 seasons, and having a solid year (19-8, 12-6 in the Big XII, good enough for 3rd and winning the conference tourney), he was on the hot seat and one bad season away from being let go. Which is unfortunate because he is a good coach. Hopefully, he'll be able to have the same success at Marquette where the expectations are lower and the past 6 seasons would be looked upon as a reason to be optimistic, not a reason to complain as it seemed to be. Yeah, we are a year away. I think next year we make the elite 8. UConn is loaded again. Clark may have been the 1st or 2nd best player, but UConns 3-9 are better than Iowa's, Fun game and we hung around for most of it But UConn just had too much fire power.

Clark didn't shoot well, but I don't think there were many bad shots. I was impressed by her game. I also liked the way Iowa's big Czinano played. Held her seals and made good decisions when they could get the ball inside. Warnock made some big shots. Williams did an excellent job defensively on Clark. She was the main reason for the poor shooting. Westbrook, Edwards, and Ododa played well as well. I'd love to see a couple of rematches between these squads next year with both starting 5s due back. |

As an Ohio State alum it is super fun watching the team OSU crapped their pants against play the team with the OSU legacy who just happens to be the best player on the court.

I wouldn't have bet all four higher-seeded teams to lose today. Most surprised at Loyola-Chicago.

Houston handled the 3pt shooting of Cuse well. I like Houston being ignored by pretty much everyone. Reminds me of Houston in 1983. Will they win it all and knock Gonzalo/ Michigan? I would say no but would be very happy if they got to the Final Four. I ran into Coach Sampson 2 1/2 year back in a random place and when realized who he was asked him some questions about my son playing college basketball. He was extremely nice.

I don't understand what happened to Houston against Rutgers, but when Rutgers choked, I knew we were fucked. Houston looked so much bigger and athletic than Syracuse. I was impressed when 'Cuse came back to tie it, but they were clearly the inferior team.

Creighton is going to get blown out. They have to be perfect just to keep up with the Zags.

That seems, um, like a bad hire. He's never coached college, near as I can tell, which seems like a problem when you need to recruit /and/ coach. SI

I'm kind of intrigued by this idea if Matta and Woodson can stay on the same page.
Let Woodson focus on coaching and player development, while Matta handles recruiting and compliance with NCAA recruiting rules (which I'd expect Woodson to be hazy on). If they're not on the same page when it comes to talent acquisition to fit Woodson's system, it could just as easily become a nightmare in a hurry. I've seen Moneyball. |

What's the downside of Michigan? Right now, they look like as big of a threat to Gonzaga as Baylor is, though not in the same way.

I’m willing to give Woodson and Matta a try. What’s to lose at this point? And Woodson clearly loves IU, which is a nice contrast to Brad Stevens. |

Same. I feel at least some excitement about this idea, which if much more than I felt for Archie Miller. (Or Tom Crean* when he was hired, or Sampson, for that matter.) It feels like a long time since my reaction to an IU coaching hire was "this could be good" vs. "we'll just have to wait and see"...probably all the way back to before we picked Mike Davis over John Treloar to head the program. [*] Caveat on Crean. I wasn't impressed by his hire at the time, but he won me over with the type of human being he proved to be. I don't think he was a great coach at all, but he was a great figure in the community when IU needed someone who would help us recover our integrity. |

Yeah, Crean could be a dork at times, but he did a lot in the community and his passion for Indiana basketball couldn't be questioned. I want somebody who wants the job. Woodson appears to fit the bill.

Inconsistency mainly. They've been very up and down the last couple of months. Dickinson getting in foul trouble, they're not the same shot-making and perimeter defense team without Livers. I was really surprised how easy it was for them today, it's possible they're getting the groove back at the right time. Wasn't that long ago that Illinois and Ohio State, who uh aren't around anymore, got the better of them. |

They need to limit these replays to one minute. They shouldn't be looking for five minutes to see if the ball grazed off a players shorts. If you dont see it in a minute the call stands.

Congrats Houston! I'm going to laugh if after all the early upsets we end up with them and three 1-seeds in the Final Four.

It seems to in the end usually pan out like that. The lower seed upsets are fun until reality sets in and the teams that have won 28 or 29 wins take over. Last edited by Galaril : 03-29-2021 at 11:13 PM. |
