In retrospect, Manningham's drop probably was a good thing.

Well, he did overthrow a wide open Miles Austin who would have easily scored a TD on a 3rd down play with less than 2 minutes left (or was it with just over 2 minutes left? Somewhere around there) that probably would have ended the game right there.... So there's that. Last edited by sabotai : 12-11-2011 at 11:08 PM. |

As soon as he dropped it I told my wife it was probably a good thing. Also, I have argued with many people here about Eli and where he ranks among current NFL QB's, and all I can say is he is proving me right this season. |

The weird thing is other than BigBen how many times do Brees, Rodgers, Brady, and Peyton need to come back? Those guys are all better than Eli, but they certainly haven't showed they can lead a team from behind the way eli has. |

I guess I should classify it by saying 6th overall and not in comebacks.

I've always looked at Eli the same way I looked at Favre. He WILL give you 3 or 4 chances a game to intercept a pass. It's up to you to take advantage of it. If you don't, he'll stick a shank in you in the fourth quarter. The Cowboys got one and I think they had a chance at two more. They didn't convert and they let him hang around long enough.
As much as I've never been a big fan of his, he continues to get the job done and like Rivers and the Chargers, seems to come back from the dead multiple times. |

According to pro football reference, Tebow now has 6 fourth quarter comebacks and 6 game winning drives. Manning has 16 and 19. Brady 21 and 27 Rogers 3 and 6 Brees 17 and 26 Rivers 12 and 15 Of course, Tebow has comebacks in 6 of his 10 starts, so if he keeps up that ratio he'll destroy them all. |

Actually he may be beginning to drink the Tebow Koolaid. Was on Mike and Mike this morning and while still critical of his QB skillset, acknowledged that the skillset he does have is working for Denver, and he may actually be rooting for them/him now. |

That's what I was getting at. Didn't he have two of those starts last year? Isn't it something like 6 comebacks in his 8 starts this year? |

Really? #1 - I'm not sure that's true. Maybe not AS OFTEN, but certainly in situations that are as big. And #2 - that's not exactly a "badge of pride" to be wearing. Just means that he hasn't played well enough early in games to put teams away (while acknowledging that it's not entirely on him, yes I know).

Actually he's had 11 starts now in the NFL. Last year he had a comeback and game winning drive in the Texans game. (his only win) He had two other starts. This year he has five comebacks and game winning drives in 8 starts. The only three games the Broncos did not come back was the Lions (blowout loss), Chiefs (up 10-7 in the fourth, he hit Decker on a bomb to seal the game) and Raiders (they were down 10 in the second half, tied it up by the end of the third and won with a punt return and a late TD run after a Raiders turnover) So that's 6 in 11 games, 5 in 8 games this year. Seems like over the last few years there's been a lot of Guru Flunkies. Young, guru-esque coaches we were supposed to be the next coming of Bill Walsh. And ended up Camcameroned. In other surprising news (besides Lance Bass being gay), the Dolphins are talking about Sparano not surviving into next season. Seems like an on-off again thing from wishy-washy owner Ross.

A bit of a surprise at the Haley firing given the Chiefs just won the division last season and had to deal with the season ending injury to Cassell. Had some awful games of late, but thought he might survive the year.

I'm stunned as well. There had to be something going on behind the scenes here. He lost his top running back (Charles), his best defensive back (Berry) and the team is still mighty young in a lot of spots. Kubiak was allowed to coach another year after people thought he should be fired and it worked for the best. There has to be more to this story than just on the field play. |

It might have been the painstick the Dolphins brought down on him. Or ... He's been Tebowed. What? Think about it ... Tim Tebow began Tebowing with the Dolphins. Tony Sparano will be canned at the end of the season. The Tebow list looks as so: Oakland KC Jets Charges Vikings Bears There are reports now that Al Davis may fire Hue Jackson from the grave. Haley is now dumped in KC. Norv Turner is probably a lame duck coach at this point. Fraiser and Lovie Smith might not be long for this coaching world. Tebow will Tebow the Bills in a couple of weeks and put Chan in jeopardy. In a few months time we'll learn if Tebow was the result of the firing of 6 head coaches. |

This. So glad he's finally gone. There was a new drama every week with this guy and he'd go into every press conference and act like nothing was amiss when questioned about it. The great part about the timing of this firing is that it allows the Chiefs to get out there and start through the available coaches. As was mentioned, the Chiefs have a roster littered with injured stars. The next coach will have a young, talented squad that has a ton of cap room available for free agents next year. It's a great opportunity to hit the ground running. |

Way to go Dallas CHOKEBOYS. Somebody needs to tell Ryan he needs to pull his head out of daddy's a$$. Buddy had better talent in his secondaries in Chicago and Philly. Cowboys D backs are NOWHERE near good enough to support his crazy blitz schemes.
During the last couple of drives while under pressure, Manning put up some floaters that had better hang-time than some punts I've seen, and yet, Giants' receivers were still able to pull them down without much of a challenge from Dallas defenders. That is a testament to just how much our secondary SUX. Last edited by SFL Cat : 12-12-2011 at 11:41 AM. |

Seems pretty simple. If your MO is to be an unlikeable douchebag to everyone then you have to win and keep winning. Otherwise you will be out on your ass the first time somebody has a chance to do it.
Seriously I have never heard anyone say one nice thing about Haley, even guys on his own team. Not a surprise at all. |

I have to say I think he's one of the most overrated coaches in the league right now. He's got some great talent and doesn't seem to be getting much success with it this year

I see he can call a time out in a press conference, but, can't do it in a game. I hate you Norv...I hope you and your Edward James Olmos complexion does not return next season.

It's like there's some ancient, outdated, life debt the NFL owes Turner or something. I just don't see how he keeps getting head coaching positions. He's the Wade Philips of offensive coordinators.
