The TBJ guys tried to guess at the beginning of the year who'd have a 5x5 if anyone, don't believe anyone would have expected Batum

Your leader in triple doubles so far this season... Jose Calderon! As a Raptors fan, even though his defense can be questionable, I love watching him play and I'm sad that this may be his last year in Toronto.

Calderon would be a big hit on a good team. He´s not good enough to make a bad team a good one but he´d be great at making all the right decicions in a 4th/5th starter role on a contender i think.

The 7-5 Bobcats were a feel good story. The 7-17 Bobcats are hilarious.

to be fair, there´s a ton of guys with similar streaks and similar low foul rates and it´s usually wing players. Kirilenko commits just 1.3 fouls per 40 minutes, as does Joe Johnson or Luol Deng (Tayshaun Prince averages 1.0 per 40 minutes)
Noah with a Triple Double (11,13 and 10 assists), averages 13.5/10.5 and 4.5 assists along with 2+ Blocks. OKC is on an 11 game win streak btw, Clips 10 and Golden State is 17-8. Also, that 17-8 mark is only the 5th seed in the west right now. Quote:
7-17 allready 12 game loosing streak. I´m feeling better for not being able to pinpoint why they were off to a good start, turns out it was a fluke afterall.

James has a style of play that should result in a lot more offensive and defensive fouls than he gets called for.

This is just stupid. It's on the front page of ESPN (hence the "this is just stupid" is redundant). I mean, because, you know, no one ever knew who Melo was in Syracuse or Denver and he hasn't been criticized more than lauded in his time in New York.
New York's Giant Carmelo Anthony has risen to star status in Manhattan (and beyond). What's next for N.Y.'s biggest star SI

Steve Nash with his return last night, now it´ll be interesting if they can get it turned around long term.
Last night Nash allready hit some big shots late. Kobe with 34 points on 41 shots ... Playoff race in the West will be insane with lots of solid teams on decent starts and you have to figure that the Lakers will improve now considereably and the Mavs still await Nowitzki´s return. Bobcats with their 15th loss in a row, Hornets their 11th ... Washington is at 3-22 ... Blazers with their 5th win in a row. Pacers have righted their ship despite Hibbert still struggling on offense (but he´s been great on defense Rockets destroyed the Grizzlies and are now at 14-12. Harden had a rough stretch a few weeks back but has bounced back very nicely. Last 8 games he´s averaging 30 points on 16 FGA

Not the most impressive job of refereeing in that Heat/Thunder game. The refs got in such a hole to the Thunder for calling so many fouls early that they couldnt call the game fair down the stretch.

Are there still expectations for Joe Johnson other than him being the #3 option for a good team or a good to great option off the bench?

Best record in the NBA at the end business on Christmas, 2012?
Not the Heat. Or Thunder. Or Knicks or Celtics. Or Spurs or Lakers. Go Clippers. 14 in a row and counting. The second unit would be a playoff team on its own. Hopefully they keep this up.

Rockets with their 3rd 120+ point game in a win, all 3 opponents rank in the top 10 in opp ppg.
They are not only fun to watch but also now at 15-12. Asik bullied Noah around and ends with 20/18 and a +41 in a 23 point win. Lakers beat the Knicks and looked pretty decent out there.

Deron Williams strikes again.
Fair or unfair, I don't think it was a coincidence given his recent comments about the Nets' system.

I could never understand the hype the Nets got this fall. A shitty team plus Joe Johnson doesn't equal a contender.

People will argue that Lebron isnt the best player in the NBA as well. People are silly I am starting to wonder if I didnt overvalue Dwight Howard in my head. At this point he has added very little to the Lakers and could be argued is a much worse fit than Bynum. Perhaps Howard is one of them stars that arent meant to win championships because they cant adapt. Last edited by jbergey22 : 12-27-2012 at 02:17 PM. |

17 and counting now ... Also Jeff Van Gundy continues to be one of the good people : Jeff Van Gundy would only have interest in Nets job if there's a vacancy - Yahoo! Sports eventhough at this point i think he just doesn´t have much interest in coaching again anyway, it´s still an admireable position to take. Mavs are reeling, Nowitzki looks rusty and slow as hell Warriors are 20-10

For some reason I actually watched this game. Sessions had a good look to send to OT but it was short. As bad as the Bobcats are, Kemba is looking better, MKG is still working out how to score in the NBA but looks like he's got a career as, at least, a solid, defense-orientated 2nd or 3rd option ahead of him. On offense he kinda reminds me of Rudy Gay minus the long 2s. Outside of that... well, Henderson is a quality 6th or 7th man, Biyombo shows enough flashes to warrant holding onto for a few more years, and Sessions is an OK backup PG. I don't think Kemba or MKG are ever going to be a #1 guy for a good team though. Need to hope for Muhammad or maybe Zeller in the draft, with Muhammad probably the safest bet for a #1 option type of NBA talent.

Good to see Eric Gordon back too. Definitely didn't seem to have a lot of rust to shake off, minus a turnover right at the end that didn't end up hurting them. Austin Rivers has been invisible at best, terrible at worst, every time I've caught a Hornets game.

Nicolas Batum has struggled with his shot, but is averaging 6 Assist per game in december. Blazers need to force him to continue to improve as a player, could be an elite 2-way player afterall.

I watched the Clippers/Nuggets last night to see if I could see what the fuss was about the Clippers. Obviously, they shot the ball like crap. They lost for their first time in 18 games, which isn't anything to laugh at. Still, I wanted to look deeper at them and figure out if they were really the real deal. I used Denver to compare them to, as I've watched a lot of Nuggets games this year and I had tons of advanced stats on them ready to compare with.
Home/Road split - Clippers 18/14 Nuggets 11/22 (worst split in the league) Strength of schedule - Clippers .510 (9th toughest in league), Nuggets .551 (2nd toughest in league) Games against sub .500 teams: Clippers 16 (including 13 in the 17 game winning streak) Nuggets 14 Games against teams with less than 10 wins: Clippers 4 Nuggets 2 Games against teams with 20 wins (I included Memphis here, because they are 19-9, I'm sure they'll win one of their next four games. I included the Nuggets in the Clippers total for the purpose of the comparison): Clippers 10 (6-4 record, 6 at home, 4 on the road) Nuggets 14 (6-8 record. 5 at home, 9 on the road) So what does all this googly moogily tell me? The Clippers are a very good basketball team that is slightly overrated. The Nuggets are a very good basketball team that is slightly underrated. Neither are as good as San Antonio or Oklahoma City. one last thing, Blake Griffin is incredibly overrated. wins per 48 Faried beats him. he wins in per only because he shoots the ball more. Listening to the announcers, we have a superstar on our hands in Mr. Griffin. Look up Al Jefferson, Kevin Love, Zach Randolph, Kenneth Faried, David Lee, Tim Duncan (at 36 years of age no less), LeMarcus Aldridge, Ryan Anderson or Serge Ibaka and tell me the difference between the players. I'm sorry, Griffin is not a superstar right now. i'm sorry, he's just not. |

To think Blake isn't a superstar is silly. He's one of the most marketable players in the NBA right now and that is what defines a superstar at this point. Is he the best player in the NBA? Certainly not, he's not even the best player on his team
