What if, like, the Universe was just a hologram, man

Turns out a stoner's theory of the cosmos just might be true.

I've got to admit that on stuff like this, I have NO IDEA WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT!

Eh, it's just mathematical models - they are saying lots of dimensions with gravity gives the same results as fewer dimensions without gravity, and thus they can use a simpler model that more closely matches what we observe (3 dimensions with gravity) to make predictions.

It's like saying if you got a fancy French or other 5-* restaurant and use lots of words, or if you go to the McDonalds Drive-Thru, you're still getting a hamburger...

I'm with Kodos. I appreciate the attempt, Greg, but I still don't get it.

It's mathematics, the universe is a hamburger. Probably a quarter pounder.

I think it is a bit more complicated than that. Think of it more like trying to solve an algebraic equation using the rules for diagramming a sentence structure or vice versa. You can't. What they might have found in their simulations is a way to do just that.

I like this stuff, I just don't entirely understand what they are saying, unless they are saying that the real world is a secret universe that is big and fat, except completely flat, which I concur with completely.

But now they can make it with Krispy Kreme doughnuts!

They're saying the Matrix is real and we're stuck in it ...
