And now NBC just called it for Hobbs. Another loss for Trump.

I'm assuming they're just "Men" at this point, and "Middle Aged Men" at that

He didn't hold a ton of rallies (like Trump and Obama did), but he did a lot of fundraisers, made appearances in swing areas across the Midwest, gave the big speech about democracy, and then had the big rally in PA with Obama. He was just smart enough to go places that would enhance the vote, rather than drive out both sides.

I just never heard a single word from him on the radio or tv...never heard reports of any rallies or appearances...nothing. Granted I wasn't seeking out anything. But our radio and tv was constantly blasting mcconnell's shitty lies

But it's looking like their majority will be only something like 221-214, which is a pretty slim margin and unlikely to be able to do much - especially with a Democratic Senate.

Current Democratic House has been between +4 and +9, so it'll probably be a show of how good Pelosi was at herding cats and how much the GOP will struggle.

Pelosi and McConnell took a ton of flack from the other side (and a decent amount of friendly fire). But they each knew how to get shit done on the Hill.

Well, they're not really going to try to do anything anyway, so I'm not sure why unity matters legislatively. They won't try to do anything to help anybody, because that might make people less mad come 2024. They can't do anything too harmful, because if it even made it through the Senate it would get slapped down by veto.

So we get two years of Anger Circus Theatre.

Their first press conference with McCarthy as leader was to announce they will go after Hunter Biden. Make no mistake about it, MTG is running that caucus.

(I can't remember - were they called Code Ninjas or is that the little kids computer school near my house? Either way, equally effective at finding nonexistent election fraud)

This is awesome - a comedian repeats the intro to Herschel's vampire speech, verbatim, at a comedy club and gets laughs.

Roy Wood is awesome. I knew of him but really got to appreciate him from This Week at the Comedy Cellar, which was a weekly show late night Fridays on Comedy Central that showed clips of 3-4 comedians doing stand-up about the week's hot topics, interspersed with clips of them sitting around shooting the shit. He was hilarious just sitting around with other comedians.

I think Covid killed the show and it hasn't come back - although I hope it does.

They've had 2 years to prepare for being in the majority, and they lead with Hunter Biden's Laptop?

Is Biden the least corrupt politician to ever live? How in goodness' name is that the big smoking gun they are trying to impress people with?

Pretty simple answer in that. Media denied that the laptop was valid, and then it seems it was. Republicans desperately needs people to stop trusting media for them to be able subvert them into their delusions, and this is a way to do that. "Don't trust mainstream media, just trust us."
From what I have seen of what they can verify off that laptop, they really have zero on Joe. They can present things to make it seem like it is possible that maybe something was presented to him that in the end never happened. Beyond that, it is zilch. But they will play that up big. Really it is the same as Bengazi. Nothing really there, but you just keep saying there is over and over again.

Edit: was answering Albion.

They are going to do the same thing with Fauci. They might find some inconsequential inconsistency through hours and hours of testimony and then they are going to harp on it as if someone tried to overthrow the government.

Plus there is a certain amount of “both sides” in preparation for 2024 when it comes to Trump, which I think is probably a bigger factor.

Expect lots of setting up false equivalences: "They won't comply with our subpoena where we asked for all of their damning evidence about that pizza sex dungeon. So when Trump was not responding to their subpoenas - that was the same thing"

And lots of repeat-it-enough-to-elevate-it: "As the representative from the great state of Texas, I'm going to say 'Joe Biden is a pedophile' over and over for the next 5 minutes to try and get it in people's subconscious"

So, basically, turning the House committees into Fox News for a couple of years
