Could possibly have cancer

Went to the doctor today because I could feel a lump down by my groin. *Turns out that is probably from my recent vasectomy. *However when the dr. Was doing the exam, she said that my lymph odes are enlarged. *It could just be an infection, or it could be cancer. *I should be getting a call Thursday or Friday to set up an appointment to have an ultrasound done. *Hopefully it's nothing, but this scares the crap out of me. *My wife is putting on a brave face but her friend is going to dye anytime now from cancer. *For the sake of my sanity and hers, I hope they get me in for this test fast.

Sorry to hear. If it makes you feel better, swollen lymph nodes is usually something else. I believe the number is around 1 percent of people who a physician finds having a swollen lymph node ends up being something serious such as cancer.

I sure hope you are right. Hopefully the dr made it sound a lot worse than it is. Either way until I find out my stomach is going to be in knots.

Some of the worst days of my life when my wife was waiting to get an appointment for what would eventually be a cancer diagnosis. Paled in comparison to the surreal experience of waiting for the results to come back.
(We actually got a voice mail just before 5pm on Friday telling us the results we in & we needed to set up another appointment to talk to the doctor ... imagine the fun of the weekend that followed). And after all that, she kicked cancer's ass.

I'm not gonna bullshit you about the next few days, nothing fun about that process but the real point here is the happy ending, not the shitty journey. You can't really do much to speed up the doctors in most cases, just have to ride the roller coaster until it reaches the station. Do the best you can to keep your imagination under control, any distraction for both you & your wife is probably a good one afaic. Prayers for you both, I wish I could offer more.

Damn, sorry to hear this Seg. Having gone through a scare in the last year, which turned out not to be, the wait is definitely nerve racking.

You go through so many emotions waiting for tests, I was even to the point that I just wanted to know ASAP even if the tests were positive so I could start fighting it.

Ideally it is all related to your vasectomy and your Doc is being rightfully cautious, in the meantime sending thoughts and prayers for a positive outcome.

Hopefully it just turns out to be some minor infection or something of that nature. Will keep you in my thoughts.

I had a large lump in my groin last year, turned out to just be a random infection (Rainmaker's numbers are probably pretty close). Good luck.

My brother had a similar scare recently. It turned out to be a normal buildup of fluid from his years-prior vasectomy. Don't freak out too much over what may turn out to be nothing at all.

Had similar symptoms after a vasectomy. Best to check it either way.

Yes, as others have said, fuck cancer. I hope it's nothing and just something to do with the vasectomy.

Just scheduled my appointment for the ultrasound for tomorrow afternoon. So my guess is that I have to wait until early next week to find out the results. I hope rainmaker is right with the numbers and this is just something minor. But you hear "possibly cancer" that scares the crap out of you. It's probably going to be a very long sleepless weekend. I think I will have to go pick up a new video game to give my mind a break.

How did this end up SegRat? I recently woke up with a swollen lymph node in my armpit. I know the statistics are on my side, but I'm a little worried about it.

I'll see what happens this week. Could be something stupid like a sweat gland or ingrown hair so who knows. From everything I've read online it's either that or just the body fighting off an infection or something.
