Super fun group discussion time

I can't say that this idea hadn't crossed my mind.

“My advice is to go out and do really interesting things,” Tegmark said, “so the simulators don’t shut you down.”

I'm suddenly reminded of my Sims and Crusader Kings play experiences...oh, shit. Now I have to go murder a hobo.

I have come to think it is either this or our universe is nothing more than atoms in a rain puddle in some larger universe, in a series of universes that scales infinitely up and down.

Hey Shakespeare, didn't you say that all the world's a stage at some point or other? It seems that we will see the world through the lens of our preferred technology and/or medium of communication. You saw your world through the lens of the theater. These people aren't doing anything that much different.

It would be interesting to go back in history to see if the first writers saw the world as an unfolding scroll, the first printers as a printing press that produces various types of events, or the initial filmmakers as a film being directed and produced by a deity-esque director.

Maybe we're in a program called Extinction.

Curious to see the distinction of people who don't believe in god(s) but believe this...

What I find funny, couldn't the programmer of said program, or CPU, be defined as God in said simulation?

I've believed this for a long time. Whereas people pray to god, I actually write down my requests to the simulators and hope they respond. They haven't yet.

Can't say I've ever thought of this specifically, but I have wondered if my life is just another version of "The Truman Show" before.

Maybe it's a big gambling thing for whoever is in charge. How will they kill themselves? Nuclear bombs? Global warming? Pollution? Religious nuts?

Planet Nine is the simulators' reset button. "This save game sucks. Let's launch a few asteroids their way and start over from scratch."

I've wondered.

I'm hoping that we are currently in stage 1 of a much longer journey and once we die here, we go some where else.
