Oh wow damn.

I really liked his presentation style and loved what him and his father did with NFL Films.

What a loss. I wonder who takes up the reins at NFL Films now? Talk about huge shoes to fill.

Big oversight by the Hall voters not to put him in before he died. He and his father are easily in the top ten most influential people in the history of the game. They basically invented modern sports coverage and always kept innovating and incorporating new technology.

Yeah, didn't know he was battling brain cancer. NFL Films sold me into football when I was younger because they presented the game as if it were a story and I would spend some days even watching some of the classic games told by NFL Films' John Facenda.

Same here. Facenda and the music combined with the plays being in slow motion were just fascinating to me and still are.

This.

Thanks for helping start a forty year affair with pro football. You're unique take on the game will be missed.

Man I love the work of the Sabols and Fassenda and I am sorry for the personal loss to the Sabol family.

NFL films as a whole was kind Of a pop icon and I feel melancholy about the end of an era. I think it is interesting the emotional importance we put into popular culture. What is up with that?

I hadn't seen him in a few years & was shocked at how old he got. RIP.

(Is it just me, or in these recent "old" shots he looks a bit like Colon Powell?)
