You know...I just have to share this here...

My senior year in high school, she was a freshman. I had blown my knee out in football and was done for the season...first game of the season, I am on crutches and she runs to me crying, there is some punk ass calling her a slut and tormenting her...I stood up to the kid, on crutches and I remember the pride in her eyes as she knew her big brother would protect her no matter what.

She was able to return the favor when I had the separation from the Ex and all the shit went down. I knew right then and there what the true definition of family was and I will never forget it.

I turn 37 on Sunday and I will miss her calling me and singing happy birthday.....

Thanks everyone for the kindness and prayers. It does mean a lot.

I have come to think of each and every one of you as my extended family. And the sense of peace, kindness and caring you have provided to me at this time has been great.

I have been trying to lose my self in other things to not think about it. I tried to go into work today and was promptly sent home by my boss.

One thing I will say. I have taken certification tests, written major college essays and high end funding documents, I have been in serious corporate negotiations for multi-million dollar deals but nothing, and I mean nothing has ever prepared me to write my little sisters obituary and plan out her service. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life.

This will be my last post about my sister...I promise

On Saturday the 12th, I officiated over my sisters service. We said goodbye to her that day.

It was sad because she is no longer with us. However it was amazing to see the number of people show up and share their love for her.

It truly touched me and rocked me to my core. Everyone that introduced themselves to me had a common theme. She was a bright ray of light in their life at its darkest moment.

She came back from her coma for a reason, and I think it was to touch the lives she has in the past year to help them make a change in their lives. She used her story to help others and for that I was grateful.

If you have siblings or loved ones you are not as close to or are estranged from, reach out to them, let them know their loved by you. Life is to short....
