Well as a Colt's fan I can't really be disappointed. They got a top 3 guy who can protect Andrew Luck and they picked up 3 extra 2nd rounds picks also.

Well I think there would have been a mutiny if the Cards didn't trade up for a QB. Given Rosen's injury history, I might have preferred Jackson over him, but breathing a big sigh of relief here that they might have finally got a franchise QB.

As a UCLA fan, I am of course biased. But I have also watched Rosen play a ton for three years. And he is the real deal. If you can keep him on his feet (as durability is definitely an issue), then I think in five years everyone will be wondering how in the hell the best QB in this draft fell to #10 and behind three other QBs. The only one of the others whom I think will be in the same ballpark is Darnold. Rosen's intelligence, ability to make all the throws and tight window accuracy are going to make him an elite QB--if he stays healthy.

As a Rams fan, I'm annoyed he ended up with the Cards.

Yeah given the Cards injury history at QB over the past few seasons, it seems incredibly risky to take a QB with an already existing injury history. But I hope you are right and he annoys Rams fans for years to come

so...did Green Bay essentially trade a current 3rd and 6th to move back 4 spots and pick up a current 5th and a future 1st?

That’s right, nice move for the first year GM. Especially if you believe they wanted Alexander all along. Given he was the best CB at 14 (their biggest need), that makes sense. Homerun move for GB

GB originally traded down (#14 to #27) with the Saints, picking up their 2019 1st round pick and a late round pick this year.

Then they traded back up to #18, giving their 3rd and 6th round picks this year to Seattle.

I think Sack was confused, thinking it was just one trade instead of two?

No, I knew it was two trades, but I was trying to suss out what the final picture was after the dust cleared.

#14 for #27 and a 5th this year, #27, a 3rd, and a 6th this year for #18 this year, if I'm reading it right; that means they essentially traded #14, a current 3rd, and a current 6th for #18, a future 1st, and a current 5th.

Again, if I'm reading it right. If I'm not, then yes, I AM confused.

Josh Rosen isn't too happy about being selected as the No. 10 overall pick in the NFL draft.
:
When interviewed during the draft, Rosen told reporters "There were nine mistakes ahead of me."
:
It was speculated on Thursday afternoon that the Jets might take Rosen over Darnold with the third pick.

Rosen also said during draft night, "I was pretty pissed off that I fell."

Plan on updating it as necessary once the selections are made to see if team/fit changes things for me.

Pulling this over from the draft thread...I actually pretty much hate where each of these guys ended up. I think I'd swap Mayfield and Jackson at this point as I don't know if Flacco is the right guy for Jackson to learn from.

As a FOF player, I am very nervous that the Saints traded a future first rounder.

One injury to Brees, and that becomes a top-10 pick easily.

But I guess if you want a pass rusher, you need to pay through the nose to get him.

I wonder if it even crossed the Browns minds that if they take Barkley #1 they still could get one of the 3 elite QBs available(probably Mayfield). They just seem to do everything to dumbest way possible. If they didnt want Barkley they should have traded the #1 overall pick for a truckload and drafted their QB at #4. Personally, I would have traded the #1 overall for a truckload. I dont feel any running back is worth the #1 overall in todays NFL.

Teams will just never learn to stop forcing QBs. It rarely works out. Just draft the best available every year and you will eventually land a decent QB that can win with a solid team around him already.

Question is, perhaps, whether there was a proverbial truckload to get for the spot?

I mean, as it worked out, how many teams didn't end up getting what they wanted and would have been willing to go #1 overall for someone?

Actually that just means you don't know who Josh Rosen is. That's very much a Rosen thing to say. He's confident and he was raised to speak his mind. So when his talent put him in front of microphones, it quickly became clear you will always know exactly what Rosen thinks of something.

He's good, he knows it and he doesn't do the BS the media stuff. It's pretty much the reason why Mora tried to keep him away from interviews. He knew Josh has no filter.

Fair question. I just assumed with how teams seem to give up so much for QBs and numerous teams looking for QBs this year. Possibly the Bills or Cards might have been able to put together a nice package.

Mojo Drew picked the number 32 because he felt all 32 teams missed the boat by passing on him. Rosen has never been quiet about his skills. It might be arrogant, but it's not a maturity issue with that quote. I really wanted that fakesportscenter quote to be true tho

Yeah, he's not that good. None of this year's QBs will be a star. At best we're talking serviceable backups.

So he was taught to put his own interest before others. To draw undesired attention to his teammates, employers, and fans. He is self centered and hasnt yet learned the ability to delay personal gratification in exchange for the greater good.

Or... especially then. He's a QB of course he'd get attention and wants to be paid.

What about the 3rd string Guard who is damn happy to be getting a free $200k education.

Again he didnt think about anyone but himself.

I know you are a fan, I get it. I dislike him and I am sure you get that.
We will never convince the other to change.

I just want him to name those 9 teams who made mistakes. (hint its 8 Cleveland picked twice. And by his statement he is saying he is a better QB than Luck, Manning and Garropolo and Trebisky)...

Its one thing to believe in proving them wrong its another to put foot in mouth.

Only a minor quibble here, as I generally agree with the bad tude take, but he said there were 9 mistakes, not that 9 teams made mistakes. I took that as saying that each pick or player take in front of him was a mistake.

The third strong guard especially. Rosen didn't care about getting paid himself. That was the point of his comments, he disn t need to get paid, his teammates did.

Or he could just keep his mouth shut and maybe just beat on his wife, or carry a gun into a club, or maybe do tons of steroids the NFLfans would love him.

Jets has to be about the worst case scenario for Darnold. While he'll probably get most of a redshirt year with McCown and Bridgewater there already, that fanbase is crazy, it's New York and there will be ghosts of Sanchez every time he makes a bad play. Plus there's always the scenario that Bridgewater looks like he did before the injury and you have insta-QB controversy to deal with for the next few years.

DOLA - going to be interesting to watch Rosen if Bradford can stay healthy as well. Obviously that's one of the biggest "if's" in the entire league, but Rosen was the one guy in the class whose best scenario probably involved him starting right away. Buffalo would have probably been the best fit there on a team that wasn't terrible too long ago.

Granted I'm not a Jets fan but my read on it from knowing some is that they are pretty optimistic about him. And they aren't really making the USC connection. I think most Jets fans were going into the season hoping to get him, as the preseason #1 type. And re: Sanchez, they didn't really have a huge problem with him as much as the devotion to him by Ryan that they couldn't handle.

Gotta hand it to The Ringer for its biting draft coverage. When grading the "fit" of each pick, they managed to hand out 19 A+s and 9 more As by my count.
